3 RLCC Council Meeting The meeting was called to order by Moderator, Debbie Awes. Pastor Chuck opened with a prayer. In attendance: Debbie Awes, Pastor Chuck, Debbie Tomicich, Shirley Petersen, Shirley Quinn, Skip Bratton, Yvonne Jensen, and Renee Gabrian. Minutes from meeting were reviewed, motion made to approve by Shirley Petersen and seconded by Skip, and motion carried. Financial Secretary: Debbie reported an anonymous gift of $15,000 to offset loss of Headstart funds was received. The gift designates $ for music and $10, for general funds. Lynette will be asked to send a thank you note. Donations for The Angel fund totaled $ Debbie will be sending out end of year statements. Treasurer: Shirley reported total expense for the year was $156,050.00, below budgeted amount of $165, Pastor: Chuck reported a wonderful Christmas season. His schedule for January include a wedding at Rock Creek Resort , the 2nd Clergy and Therapist Veteran training , a planning meeting to plan the Community Lenten Service. The 30 minute service will include the Lutheran, Episcopal, Catholic, and RLCC churches followed by a soup supper. Ash Wednesday service will be at 7:00 PM. He will be on vacation to Adult Sunday School will resume and Book Study will start Moderator: Debbie reported all ministry reports have been submitted to Lynette. Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be 5:00-7:00 PM on Norma Scheidecker will have banner dates changed. Don Kinney will be our cook. The Annual Meeting will be and Yvonne Jensen will lead the meeting in Debbie s absence. Vice Moderator: no report Facilities Management: Skip reported payment will be be made to David Petersen for snow removal, janitorial supplies have been purchased and Facilities will pay $ toward Leonor s fees for Worker s Comp Certificate. There have been no further meter spikes in water usage. He is following up with the City for meter replacement. Book rack replacement for the original pews are pending. Exterior door keys have been made for Yvonne and for the Girl Scout Troop. Skip and Jay West met with Helland Insurance and a package is being put together to see if Church insurance rates can be reduced. A Facilities Manual is being planned with assembling of equipment manuals and written procedures. Jay is making a DVD of Church inventory. Ministry: report on file. The missing Deacon key has been found. Christian Education: Chuck reported Youth Sunday School has resumed and Adult Sunday School will resume this week. Stewardship and Missions: Shirley reported this is her last meeting for her term. The Memorial Board is being made by Dennis Elo. Memorials of $ or greater will be on engraved plaques. Memorials less than $ will be noted in a Memorial Book. Future plans for this committee include redoing the Narrative budget book with the Finance Committee. Budget: no report Bylaw: no report New Business: Chuck reported a new Girl Scout Super Troop is being organized by Theresa Whistler and use of the Fellowship Hall is requested for bimonthly Monday meetings from 6:00-7:30. A motion was made by Yvonne to approve, Shirley Petersen seconded the motion, and the motion carried. Shirley Quinn turned in her resignation as Council Treasurer. Her replacement will be requested at the Annual Meeting. Old Business: none Our next meeting will be [ Shrove Tuesday] There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Kim Wilker The Endowment Mission is planning the use of the Hazel Chamberlain Endowment Fund income to disburse in We need suggestions as to how best spend the $15, that is available for disbursement this year. Funds can be spent for local Church use, community philanthropies and national and world wide mission. Your input is important to the decision making process. Our committee will review your recommendations and allocate them to our designated categories which are Mission and Outreach, Internal Church Ministry and Facility Management Reserve. The Endowment Mission will present its suggestions to the Church Council for approval and disbursement. Please consider prayerfully how to most effectively spend these funds and use the accompanying form to share your thoughts.
