1 Reading Assignment The Dispensation of e Fulness of Times: Part Three The Great Millennium For e great Millennium, of which I have spoken by e mou of my servants, shall come. (D&C 43:30) Introduction The great Millennium, wi e little season which shall follows (D&C 43:30-31), shall bring to a conclusion Heavenly Faer s work and glory regarding is ear and its people. McConkie ( ) Quorum of e Twelve Apostles Eer, whose teachings are summarized for us by Moroni, speaks of [1] e New Jerusalem (Enoch's city) at shall come down out of heaven, of [2] e New Jerusalem to be built upon e American continent, and of [3] e building up anew of e Old Jerusalem in Palestine. His words show e relationship of ese ree Jerusalems to e Second Coming [These no. will be used to help reader understand which Jerusalem is being discussed.]. [Discusses No. 1 and 2] As Moroni records, Eer taught at America "was e place of [1] e New Jerusalem, which should come down out of heaven, and [2] e holy sanctuary of e Lord. Behold, Eer saw e days of Christ, and he spake concerning a New Jerusalem upon is land." [2] One Jerusalem is to be built up in America after e latter-day restoration of e gospel; [1] e oer is to come down from heaven after e Lord returns. "He spake also concerning e house of Israel, and e [3] Jerusalem from whence Lehi should come-after it should be destroyed it should be built up again, a holy city unto e Lord; wherefore, it could not be a new Jerusalem for it had been in a time of old; but it should be built up again, and become a holy city of e Lord; and it should be built unto e house of Israel." The Lord's people will build up Old Jerusalem again; ey shall do it in righteousness, including e placing of a holy temple wiin its walls. Joseph Smi says is temple must be built before e Second Coming. Eer also taught "at a [2] New Jerusalem should be built up upon is land [America], unto e remnant of e seed of Joseph." We and e Lehite descendants are remnants of Joseph. "Wherefore, e remnant of e house of Joseph shall be built upon is land; and it shall be a land of eir inheritance; and ey shall build up a holy city unto e Lord, like unto e Jerusalem of old; and ey shall no more be confounded, until e end come when e ear shall pass away." This is e New Jerusalem at is to be built in Jackson County, Missouri, in due course.

2 "There shall be a new heaven and a new ear; and ey shall be like unto e old save e old have passed away, and all ings have become new." This is e Millennial or renewed or paradisiacal ear. "And en come [1] e New Jerusalem." Enoch's city will come to join wi e New Jerusalem built by e saints. (A New Witness for e Articles of Fai [1985], pp ; underlining and numbers added) John Taylor ( ) President, spoke of e heights of attainment made by e saints at will bring about e New Jerusalem and its affects upon e whole world before e second coming in ese terms: We believe at God is going to revolutionize e ear, to purge it from iniquity of every kind and to introduce righteousness of every kind, until e great millennium is fully introduced. We believe, moreover, at God, having commenced his Work, will continue to reveal and make manifest his will to his Priesood, to his Church and kingdom on e ear, and at among is people ere will be an embodiment of virtue, of tru, of holiness, of integrity, of fidelity, of wisdom and of e knowledge of God. We believe at ere will be a temporal kingdom of God organized at will be under e direction and auspices of e Lord of Hosts, and at in all our affairs, wheer ey relate to ings temporal or ings spiritual, as we have been in e habit of calling em, we shall be under e direction of e Lord, as e Scriptures say, "It shall come to pass at all e people shall be taught of e Lord." This is part and parcel of our creed. We believe at we shall rear splendid edifices, magnificent temples and beautiful cities at shall become e pride, praise and glory of e whole ear. We believe at is people will excel in literature, in science and e arts and in manufactures. In fact, ere will be a concentration of wisdom, not only of e combined wisdom of e world as it now exists, but men will be inspired in regard to all ese matters in a manner and to an extent at ey never have been before, and we shall have eventually, when e Lord's purposes are carried out, e most magnificent buildings, e most pleasant and beautiful gardens, e richest and most costly cloing, and be e most healy and e most intellectual people at will reside upon e ear. This is part and parcel of our fai; in fact, Zion will become e praise of e whole ear; and as e Queen of Sheba said anciently, touching e glory of Solomon, e half of it had not been told her, so it will be in regard to Israel in eir dwelling places. In fact, if ere is anying great, noble, dignified, exalted, anying pure, or holy, or virtuous, or lovely, anying at is calculated to exalt or ennoble e human mind, to dignify and elevate e people, it will be found among e people of e Saints of e Most High God. This is only a faint outline of some of our views in relation to ese ings, and hence we talk of returning to Jackson county to build e most magnificent temple at ever was formed on e ear and e most splendid city at was ever erected; yea, cities, if you please. The architectural designs of ose splendid edifices, cities, walls, gardens, bowers, streets, &c., will be under e direction of e Lord, who will control and manage all ese matters; and e people, from e President down, will all be under e guidance and direction of e Lord in all e pursuits of human life, until eventually ey will be enabled to erect cities at will be fit to be caught up-at when Zion descends from above, Zion will also ascend from benea, and be prepared to associate wi ose from above. The people will be so perfected and purified, ennobled, exalted, and dignified in eir feelings and so truly humble and most wory, virtuous and intelligent at ey will be fit, when caught up, to associate wi at Zion at shall come down from God out of heaven. This is e idea, in brief, at we have entertained in relation to many of ese ings. (Journal of Discourses, 26. Vols.[London: Latter-day Saints Book Depot, ], 10: ) (3) The Meeting at Adam-ondi-Ahman Joseph Fielding Smi ( ) President Not many years hence ere shall be anoer gaering of high priests and righteous souls in is same valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman. At is gaering Adam, e Ancient of Days, will again be present. At is time e vision which Daniel saw will be enacted (Daniel 7). The Ancient of Days will sit. There will stand before him ose who have held e keys of all dispensations, who shall render up eir stewardships to e first Patriarch of e race, who holds e keys of salvation. This shall be a day of judgment and preparation. Joseph, e Prophet, in speaking of is event, said: Daniel in his seven chapter speaks of e Ancient of Days; he means e oldest man, our faer Adam, Michael; he will call his children togeer and hold a council wi em to prepare em for e coming of e Son of Man. He (Adam) is e faer of e human family, and presides over e spirits of all men, and all at have had e keys must stand before him in is grand council... The Son of Man stands before him (Adam) and ere is given him glory and dominion. Adam delivers up his stewardship to Christ, at which was delivered to him as holding e keys of e universe, but retains his standing as head of e human family. In is council Christ will take over e reigns of government, officially, on is ear, and "e kingdom and dominion, and e greatness of e kingdom under e whole heaven, shall be given to e people of e saints of e Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him," even Jesus Christ. Until is grand council is held, Satan shall hold rule in e nations of e ear; but at at time rones are to be cast down and man's rule shall come to an end-for it is decreed at e Lord shall make an end of all nations. (The Way to Perfection [1978], p.289) Ear is Passing Through Stages of Existence Just as we are passing rough various stages of existence until finally we achieve equality wi our Heavenly Faer and Moer, so e ear is passing rough differing stages. President Joseph Fielding Smi ( ) taught: This ear is passing rough four grand degrees or stages: 1. The creation and e condition [preceding] e fall. 2. The telestial condition which has prevailed since e fall of Adam. 3. The terrestrial condition at will prevail when e Savior comes and ushers in e millennial era. 4.The celestial or final state of e ear when it has obtained its exaltation. There is, also, what e Lord has called a little season, following e millennium when Satan will be loosed and e last great battle will be fought. (Doctrines of Salvation 3 Vols., sel. Bruce R. 3 The Purpose of e Millennium Read D&C 88:15-20 The Lord told Joseph Smi at e ear would pass rough seven ousand years of its continuance or its temporal existence (D&C 77:6). The Millennium is e last of ese ousand year periods. It s general purpose is bring to a completion Heavenly Faer s work and glory. The goal of e first two phases of e dispensation of e fulness of times were to get a people ready for e second coming of Jesus Christ, so e final phase which is accomplished during e Millennium will be to prepare bo e ear and God s people Zion to dwell in e presence of God after e ear has been sanctified of all unrighteousness and resurrected as e celestial world. Notes on D&C 88:15-20 Verses speak of e resurrection of man as a redemption of e soul of man, defined here as bo body and spirit. Verse 17 states at e resurrection comes rough him at quickene all ings, vs. 26 states at is includes e ear. Vs. 17 declares at in e resurrected state, e poor and e meek shall inherit e ear. This reflects e Savior s teaching in e sermon on e mount (Matt. 5:3,5) and e sermon in e temple (3 Ne. 12:3,5). Verse 18 states at before e ear can be resurrected it needs to be sanctified from unrighteousness. Verse reveals at after e ear has filled e measure of its creation (D&C 49:16-17 teach at e principal purpose of is ear was to be a habitation for God s offspring in eir second estate) en it will be resurrected and become an habitation for Heavenly Faer and ose of e celestial kingdom. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ Inaugurate e Millennium D&C 29:11 (also 43:29-30; 45:44-59) For I will reveal myself from heaven wi power and great glory, wi all e hosts ereof, and dwell in righteousness wi men on ear a ousand years, and e wicked shall not stand. The First Resurrection D&C 29:13 For a trump shall sound bo long and loud, even as upon Mount Sinai, and all e ear shall quake, and ey shall come for--yea, even e dead which died in me, to receive a crown of righteousness, and to be cloed upon, even as I am, to be wi me, at we may be one. D&C 45:43-46 And e remnant shall be gaered unto is place [i.e., Jewish remnant will return to Jerusalem]; And en ey shall look for me, and, behold, I will come; and ey shall see me in e clouds of heaven, cloed wi power and great glory; wi all e holy angels; and he at watches not for me shall be cut off. But before e arm of e Lord shall fall, an angel shall sound his trump, and e saints at have slept shall come for to meet me in e cloud. Wherefore, if ye have slept in peace blessed are you; for as you now behold me and know at I am, even so shall ye come unto me and your souls shall live, and your redemption shall be perfected; and e saints shall come for from e four quarters of e ear. D&C 88: And e saints at are upon e ear [at Christ s second coming], who are alive, shall be quickened and be caught up to meet him. And ey who have slept in eir graves shall come for, for eir graves shall be opened; and ey also shall be caught up to meet him in e midst of e pillar of heaven-- They are Christ's, e first fruits, ey who shall descend wi him first, and ey who are on e ear and in eir graves, who are first caught up to meet him; and all is by e voice of e sounding of e trump of e angel of God. What Form Will Man Be Found in During Millennium? Bruce R. McConkie ( ) Quorum of e Twelve Apostles During e Millennium ere will, of course, be two kinds of people on ear. There will be ose who are mortal, and ose who are immortal. There will be ose who have been changed or quickened or transfigured or translated (words fail us to describe eir state), and ose who have gone rough a second change, in e twinkling of an eye, so as to become eternal in nature. There will be ose who are on probation, for whom ear life is a probationary estate, and who are us working out eir own salvation, and ose who have already overcome e world and have entered into a fulness of eternal joy. There will be ose who will yet die in e sense of being changed from eir quickened state to a state of immortality, and ose who, having previously died, are en living in a resurrected state. There will be ose who are subject to e kings and priests who rule forever in e house of Israel, and ose who, as kings and priests, exercise power and dominion in e everlasting kingdom of Him whose we are. There will be ose who, as mortals, provide bodies for e spirit children of e Faer, for e spirits whose right it is to come to ear and gain houses for eir eternal spirits, and ose who, as immortals (Abraham is one), are already begetting spirit children of eir own. There will be ose for whom e fulness of eternal glory is ahead, and ose who, again like Abraham, have already entered into eir exaltation and sit upon eir rones and are not angels but are gods forever and ever. (The Millennial Messiah, pp ) Mortal Life Will Continue But Wi A Difference D&C 63:50-51 And he at live when e Lord shall come, and ha kept e fai, blessed is he; nevereless, it is appointed to him to die at e age of man. Wherefore, children shall grow up until ey become old; old men shall die; but ey shall not sleep in e dust, but ey shall be changed in e twinkling of an eye. D&C 45:57-58 For ey at are wise and have received e tru, and have taken e Holy Spirit for eir guide, and have not been deceived -- verily I say unto you, ey shall not be hewn down and cast into e fire, but shall abide e day. And e ear shall be given unto em for an inheritance; and ey shall multiply and wax strong, and eir children shall grow up wiout sin unto salvation. Isaiah 65:18-23

4 Be ye glad and rejoice for ever in at which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and e voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor e voice of crying... And ey shall build houses, and inhabit em; and ey shall plant vineyards and eat e fruit of em. They shall not build, and anoer inhabit; ey shall not plant, and anoer eat: for as e days of a tree are e days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy e work of eir hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring for for trouble; for ey are e seed of e blessed of e Lord, and eir offspring wi em. Bruce R. McConkie ( ) Quorum of e Twelve Apostles Great and marvelous ough e changes will be incident to life during e millennial era, yet mortality as such will continue. Children will be born, grow up, marry, advance to old age, and pass rough e equivalent of dea. Crops will be planted, harvested, and eaten; industries will be expanded, cities built, and education fostered; men will continue to care for eir own needs, handle eir own affairs, and enjoy e full endowment of free agency. Speaking a pure language (Zeph. 3:9), dwelling in peace, living wiout disease, and progressing as e Holy Spirit will guide, e advancement and perfection of society during e millennium will exceed anying men have supposed or expected. Physical bodies of ose living on ear during e millennium will not be subject to e same ills at attend us in our present sphere of existence. Men in at day will still be mortal; children will be born to em; spirits coming into e physical or natural bodies born in at day will en go rough eir mortal probation as we are now going rough ours. Those born during e millennium will not be immortal, at is, eir bodies and spirits will not be inseparably connected as is e case wi resurrected beings. But eir bodies will be changed from conditions as ey now exist so at disease cannot attack em, and dea as we know it cannot intervene to cause a separation of body and spirit. (Mormon Doctrine, [1966, 2nd], pp ) Christ Must Return to Fulfill e Promises Made to e Faers D&C 45:16 And I will show it plainly as I showed it unto my disciples as I stood before em in e flesh, and spake unto em, saying: As ye have asked of me concerning e signs of my coming, in e day when I shall come in my glory in e clouds of heaven, to fulfil e promises at I have made unto your faers, This will happen in many ways Brigham Young ( ) President As I have frequently told you, at is e work of e Millennium. It is e work at has to be performed by e seed of Abraham, e chosen seed, e royal seed, e blessed of e Lord, ose e Lord made covenants wi. They will step for, and save every son and daughter of Adam who will receive salvation here on e ear; and all e spirits in e spirit world will be preached to, conversed wi, and e principles of salvation carried to em, at ey may have e privilege of receiving e Gospel; and ey will have plenty of children here on e ear to officiate for in ose ordinances of e Gospel at pertain to e flesh. [ ], 2: also Discourses of Brigham Young [1954], 403; and Teachings of Presidents of e Church: Brigham Young [1997], p. 333; emphasis added) Enoch s Zion Will Return Wi e Savior to Gaer wi Latter-day Zion. *Read Moses 7:59-67; Eer 13:2-11 The Kingdom Of Heaven Joins Wi e Kingdom of God (Zion) on Ear During e Millennium When e Savior gave a pattern for prayer what has now become known as e Lord s prayer it is interesting e first ing we are to pray for, look for, or be concerned wi is e Millennial kingdom which is to come: Our Faer which are in heaven, Hallowed by y name. Thy kingdom come (Matt. 6:9-10). To e latter-day Church e Lord gave a Revelation on prayer : Hearken, and lo, a voice as of one sent down from on high, who is mighty and powerful, whose going for is unto e ends of e ear, yea, whose voice is unto men--prepare ye e way of e Lord, make his pas straight. The keys of e kingdom of God are committed unto man on e ear, and from ence shall e gospel roll for unto e ends of e ear, as e stone which is cut out of e mountain wiout hands shall roll for, until it has filled e whole ear [see Daniel 2:35, 43-44]. Yea, a voice crying--prepare ye e way of e Lord, prepare ye e supper of e Lamb, make ready for e Bridegroom. Pray unto e Lord, call upon his holy name, make known his wonderful works among e people. Call upon e Lord, at his kingdom may go for upon e ear, at e inhabitants ereof may receive it, and be prepared for e days to come, in e which e Son of Man shall come down in heaven, cloed in e brightness of his glory, to meet e kingdom of God which is set up on e ear. Wherefore, may e kingdom of God go for, at e kingdom of heaven may come, at ou, O God, mayest be glorified in heaven so on ear, at ine enemies may be subdued; for ine is e honor, power and glory, forever and ever. Amen. (D&C 65:1-6) Joseph Smi ( ) President It has been e design of Jehovah, from e commencement of e world, and is His purpose now, to regulate e affairs of e world in His own time, to stand as a head of e universe, and take e reins of government in His own hand. When at is done, judgment will be administered in righteousness; anarchy and confusion will be destroyed, and "nations will learn war no more." It is for want of is great governing principle, at all is confusion has existed; "for it is not in man at walke, to direct his steps;" is we have fully shown. Talmage ( ) Quorum of e Twelve Apostles From While e expressions Kingdom of God and Kingdom of Heaven are used in e Bible synonymously or interchangeably, later revelation gives to each a distinctive meaning. The Kingdom of God is e Church established by divine auority upon e ear; is institution asserts no claim to temporal rule over nations; its sceptre of power is at of e Holy Priesood, to be used in e preaching of e gospel and in administering its ordinances for e salvation of mankind living and dead. The Kingdom of Heaven is e divinely ordained system of government and dominion in all matters, temporal and spiritual; is will be established on ear only when its rightful Head, e King of kings, Jesus e Christ, comes to reign. His administration will be one of order, operated rough e agency of His commissioned representatives invested wi e Holy Priesood. The Kingdom of God Before and After e Second Coming John Taylor ( ) President In making a brief summary of what we have said before in relation to e means to be employed for e establishment of e Kingdom of God, we find e following: st 1 That it will be not only a spiritual kingdom, but a temporal and literal one also. nd 2 That if it is e Kingdom of Heaven, it must be revealed from e heavens. r 3 That a standard is to be lifted up, by e Lord, to e nations. 4 That an Angel is to come wi e everlasting Gospel, which is to be proclaimed to every nation, kindred, people, and tongue; at it is to be e same as e ancient one, and at e same powers and blessings will attend it. 5 That not only will e Ancient Gospel be preached, but ere will accompany it a declaration of judgment to e nations. 6 That ere will be a literal Zion, or gaering of e Saints to Zion, as well as a gaering of e Jews to Jerusalem. 7 That when is has taken place, e Spirit of God will be widrawn from e nations, and ey will war wi and destroy each oer. 8 That judgments will also overtake em from e Lord; plague, pestilence, famine, etc. 9 That e nations, having lost e Spirit of God, will assemble to fight against e Lord s people, being full of e spirit of unrighteousness, and opposed to e rule and government of God. 10 That when ey do, e Lord will come and fight against em himself; overrow eir armies, assert his own right, rule e nations wi a rod of iron, root e wicked out of e ear, and take possession of his own kingdom. I might here furer state, at when e Lord does come to exercise judgment upon e ungodly, to make an end of sin, and bring in everlasting righteousness, he will establish his own laws, demand universal obedience, and cause wickedness and misuse to cease. He will issue his commands, and ey must be obeyed; and if e nations of e ear observe not his laws, ey will have no rain. And ey will be taught by more forcible means an moral suasion, at ey are dependant upon God; for e Lord will demand obedience, and e Scriptures say, time and again, at e wicked shall be rooted out of e land, and e righteous and e meek shall inherit e ear. The Lord, after trying man s rule for ousands of years, now takes e reins of government into his own hands, and makes use of e only possible means of asserting his rights. For if e wicked never were cut off, e righteous never could rule; and if e Devil was still suffered to bear rule, God could not, at e same time; consequently after long delay, he whose right it is, takes possession of e kingdom; and e kingdom; and e greatness of e kingdom under e rule of e whole heavens, shall be given to e Saints of e Most High God; and e world will assume at position for which it was made. A King shall rule in righteousness, and Princes shall decree judgment. The knowledge of e Lord will spread, and extend under e auspices of is government. Guided by his counsels, and under his direction, all ose purposes designed of Him, from e commencement, in relation to bo living and dead, will be in a fair way for e accomplishment. (The Government of God, Ch.11) Welding e Family of Adam Togeer Read D&C 128:18 Brigham Young ( ) President We are trying to save e living and e dead. The living can have eir choice, e dead have not. Millions of em died wiout e Gospel, wiout e Priesood, and wiout e opportunities at we enjoy. We shall go for in e name of Israel's God and attend to e ordinances for em. And rough e Millennium, e ousand years at e people will love and serve God, we will build temples and officiate erein for ose who have slept for hundreds and ousands of years-ose who would have received e tru if ey had had e opportunity; and we will bring em up, and form e chain entire, back to Adam. (Teachings of Presidents of e Church: Brigham Young [1997], p. 311) In e Millennium, when e Kingdom of God is established on e ear in power, glory and perfection, and e reign of wickedness at has so long prevailed is subdued, e Saints of God will have e privilege of building eir temples, and of entering into em, becoming, as it were, pillars in e temples of God [see Revelation 3:12], and ey will officiate for eir dead. We know at many wory and wonderful Latter-day Saints currently lack e ideal opportunities and essential requirements for eir progress. Singleness, childlessness, dea, and divorce frustrate ideals and postpone e fulfillment of promised blessings. In addition, some women who desire to be full-time moers and homemakers have been literally compelled to enter e full-time work force. But ese frustrations are only temporary. The Lord has promised at in e eternities no blessing will be denied his sons and daughters who keep e commandments, are true to eir covenants, and desire what is right. Many of e most important deprivations of mortality will be set right in e Millennium, which is e time for fulfilling all at is incomplete in e great plan of happiness for all of our Faer s wory children. We know at will be true of temple ordinances. I believe it will also be true of family relationships and experiences. ( The Great Plan of Happiness, Ensign, Nov. 1993, p. 75) Anoer idea at is powerful to lift us from discouragement is at e work of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to bring to pass e eternal life of man (Moses 1:39), is an eternal work. Not all problems are overcome and not all needed relationships are fixed in mortality. The work of salvation goes on beyond e veil of dea, and we should not be too apprehensive about incompleteness wiin e limits of mortality. Joseph Smi taught: [T]hey shall be heirs of God and joint heirs wi Jesus Christ. What is it? To inherit e same power, e same glory and e same exaltation, until you arrive at e station of a god, and ascend e rone of eternal power, e same as ose who have gone before. What did Jesus do? Why, I do e ings I saw my Faer do when worlds came rolling into existence. My faer worked out His kingdom wi fear and trembling, and I must do e same; and when I get my kingdom, I shall present it to My Faer, so at He may obtain kingdom upon kingdom, and it will exalt Him in glory. He will en take a higher exaltation, and I will take His place, and ereby become exalted myself. So at Jesus treads in e tracks of His Faer, and inherits what God did before; and God is us glorified and exalted in e salvation and exaltation of all His children. Noing in or on or over e ear will be wiheld from human ken, for eventually man, if he is to be as his Maker, must know all ings. The language here bears out e concept at apostasy and its consequent evil way of life will be e key at opens e prison in which Satan is bound. (The Millennial Messiah [1982], pp ) After e Millennium plus a little season - perhaps itself anoer ousand years - during which men turn again to wickedness, en come e end, not of e world, which occurred at e Second Coming, but e end of ear. Then e final battle against Gog and Magog, e battle of e Great God, will be fought. Michael will lead e armies of heaven and Lucifer e legions of hell. Again ere will be a new heaven and a new ear, but is time it will be a celestial ear. This ear will en be an eternal heaven, and e meek, who are e God-fearing and e righteous, shall inherit it forever and ever. (The Millennial Messiah [1982], p.22) This final great battle, in which evil spirits, mortal men, and resurrected personages all participate, will be e end of war as far as is ear is concerned. Then e ear shall be celestialized and become e abode of e righteous forever. nd (Mormon Doctrine, [1966, 2 Ed.], pp ) Joseph Smi ( ) President The battle of Gog and Magog will be after e millennium. No, but e people on e face of e ear, many of em, will be like e Nephites who lived 200 years after e coming of Christ. They will rebel against e Lord knowingly, and e great last struggle will come, and e devil and his forces will be defeated; en e ear will die and receive its resurrection and become a celestial body. The resurrection of e wicked will take place as one of e last events before e ear dies. (Doctrines of Salvation, 3 vols., sel. Bruce R. McConkie [ ], 1:87) After e ousand years Satan will be loosed again and will go for again to deceive e nations. Because men are still mortal, Satan will go out to deceive em. Men will again deny e Lord, but in doing so ey will act wi eir eyes open and because ey love darkness raer an light, and so ey become sons of perdition. Satan will gaer his hosts, bo ose on e ear and e wicked dead who will eventually also be brought for in e resurrection. Michael, e Prince, will gaer his forces and e last great battle will be fought. Satan will be defeated wi his hosts. Then will come e end. Satan and ose who follow him will be banished into outer darkness. (Doctrines of Salvation, 3 vols., sel. Bruce R. McConkie [ ], 1:87) Satan will be loosed to gaer his forces after e millennium. The people who will be tempted, will be people living on is ear, and ey will have every opportunity to accept e gospel or reject it. Satan will have noing to do whatever wi little children, or grown people who have received eir resurrection and entered into e celestial kingdom. Satan cannot tempt little children in is life, nor in e spirit world, nor after eir resurrection. Little children who die before reaching e years of accountability will not be tempted; ose born during e millennium, when Satan is bound and cannot tempt em, "shall grow up wiout sin unto salvation."
