Our theme this year is "The Year of Present Truth," and we ve seen God moving on the hearts of men and women everywhere. They're searching for this present truth, and no other denomination is giving the three angels messages containing God's final call and warning. Soon these messages will lighten the earth with God s glory, and Jesus will return! I ve often wondered how God will use his people to reach the multitudes of lost souls who need to hear the everlasting gospel. They need the everlasting gospel. Many people including many Christians will not listen to or watch sermons on Daniel and Revelation. Why? Simply because, as one prominent leader told me, Our pastors tell us we shouldn t try to understand those prophetic books. This well-known writer went on to tell me that Daniel and Revelation were scary for him until he began studying the three angels messages through the music on our new Give Him Glory project! I m overjoyed to tell you that we re seeing great results from this new music project. It s filled with a number of new songs taken from the three angels messages of Revelation 14. The music is crossing denominational barriers, and even the songwriters and musicians are being impacted by these truths. 3 4 NEWS & EVENTS Bobby Davis God is constantly bringing new workers to 3ABN, and we re excited to welcome Ryan and Stephanie Day as the newest members of our ministry team! Ryan joins general manager Tim Parton on our 3ABN Praise Him Music Channel, and Stephanie has accepted a position as principal and teacher at the Thompsonville Christian School on 3ABN s campus. We asked them to share how the Lord led them to us, and once again, we were amazed how He made it all happen. Pentecostal Upbringing Ryan and Stephanie were both raised in a small Arkansas town and had similar religious backgrounds. Growing up in the Pentecostal faith, Ryan began playing drums at an early age and soon joined his mother and father, playing and singing in church and other gatherings. The emphasis in the Pentecostal church is on music and experiencing the presence of God, Ryan explains, so I enjoyed playing and singing, even though I sometimes questioned the genuineness of some of the members. As I grew up, I remember often wondering, Is this really the work of the Holy Spirit? Stephanie says she attended her grandmother s Pentecostal church from time to time as she grew up, but never had the same experience that others displayed. However, she says, I kept going because people always made me feel welcome and loved. Introduced to the Sabbath As Ryan recalls, he was only a young boy when an aunt and uncle gave his father a VHS tape of Pastor Mark Finley on the Seventh-day Sabbath. They had just returned to town after being exposed to what the Ryan Day sings, They Sang a New Song in the Give Him Glory concert during 3ABN s Spring Camp Meeting in June. family called a seventh-day cult, and he vividly recalls his father digging through Scripture to confirm what he was hearing. For the next four years my dad watched programs by Mark Finley, Kenneth Cox, and especially Doug Batchelor s Millennium of Prophecy series, he says, and eventually, both my parents were convicted of these truths. But a visit to an Adventist church felt so different from what they were used to that they didn t go back. Ryan s father (who was now preaching) began presenting those new truths in his church, and that soon became a problem. For the next seven or eight years we changed churches frequently because when he preached about the Sabbath, the state of the dead, and what the Bible says in regards to speaking in tongues, he would be asked to leave," he says. "Finally, during my senior year in high school, Dad said, We are going to start our own church! Together with Ryan s uncle and aunt, his father bought the old Pentecostal church he d attended in his childhood and began renovating it into a Sabbath-keeping, non-denominational church. One day an old friend stopped by and asked him what he was doing, and as he began explaining his new-found truths, the man became increasingly excited. Finally, he blurted out, I ve been studying those things, too! A week later, that man returned with a stack of books, and one of them caught my attention, Ryan says. It was Danny Shelton and Shelley Quinn s book, Ten Commandments Twice Removed, and I read it in less than a week! Finally, I understood why it s important to keep all of God s commandments, and I was on fire. That same man brought me a set of DVDs, too, and as I began watching, I suddenly recognized them as the programs my father watched years before the Millennium of Prophecy series with Doug Batchelor!" Several years went by, and when Ryan and Stephanie moved to a different college several hours away, they began looking for a new Sabbath-keeping church while avoiding the Seventh-day Adventist church just a few miles away. When that didn t work, I decided to go visit the Adventist pastor and told him that although I believed most of what the Adventist Church was teaching, I had a few reservations. I believed differently about the godhead, I was struggling with the prophet status of Ellen White, and I

4 6 NEWS & EVENTS (continued) had some problems with their worship style. Then I asked if any of those things would be a deal breaker, and Pastor Elroy Tesch assured me that he would be happy to work through those things with me. Next, he asked if I d ever read any of Ellen White s writings, and when I admitted I hadn t, he gave me the book Steps to Christ. Start with this one, he said, because if she s wrong, you ll find that out in this book right away. Ryan remembers reading that book, looking for the slightest error. However, the more he read, the more convicted he felt. Steps to Christ allowed me to see God s love and the genuine character of Christ for the first time, he says. I kept thinking, There s no way she could have come up with that without being inspired, and it was an eye-opening experience to see the real Jesus and realize that He really wanted a personal relationship with me. He wanted me to talk and spend time with Him, to change me from the inside out, and give me His righteous character. This was the Christ of the Bible! Ryan and Stephanie joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 2011, and made plans to attend the Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism (AFCOE) in California. They really helped me to take all I d been learning and apply it, and the fire inside me began burning out of control, he says. "After graduating from AFCOE, we joined the Amazing Facts evangelistic team and worked with them for five years. Although Ryan s desire to be a pastor seemed about to come true, the doors never quite opened. "Stephanie accepted a teaching position in Arkansas, and things looked promising for me, but never materialized. Next, I was offered a pastor s position in Texas, but Stephanie would have no job. So when Danny Shelton called and asked if I would be willing to sing on a new 3ABN music project called, Give Him Glory, and I eagerly accepted New Opportunities While recording in Nashville, Danny approached Ryan over lunch and offered him an opportunity to come work for 3ABN. Now I had two job offers, but neither of them offered my wife and me the chance to work in the same place, so I was really confused, Ryan admits. I told Danny I was very interested, but that my wife would have to look for a new job, and he said, Well, the principal at our church school is leaving, so let me see what we can do.' And as God would have it, the Illinois Conference educational director just happened to be at 3ABN the very day we came there to finish recording my songs. He interviewed Stephanie and offered her the job and that was unmistakable evidence of God s will for us. We are thrilled to be here, and are looking forward to serving the Lord with 3ABN! Surely God has brought this talented couple to us, and we praise Him for it! Ryan s desire to be a pastor seemed about to come true, but somehow the doors never quite opened. Maxine Dennis from Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, found 3ABN on a visit to Scotland some years ago, and loved the spiritual food she received. But when she heard our camp meeting would focus on the three angels messages, she felt a strong desire to attend. However, she didn t have the funds to come, so with fasting, she took her request to the Lord and miraculously, the funds came in! As we spoke with her, we realized that life hasn t been easy for Maxine. As a single mother living on benefits, she struggled to get an education and find a happy relationship. Then one day, a friend introduced her to the Seventh-day Adventist faith and when she attended for the first time, the topic was the Prodigal Son. I wept through Sabbath School and church, but came back faithfully and was baptized in 1997, she says. During that time, I also earned a degree in fashion and textile design and began teaching college, but those successes seemed hollow. So when I discovered 3ABN Dare to Dream network, I found a new joy. The three angels messages have given me the drive and passion to help finish the work. Maxine wanted to volunteer while she was here, even as she looked forward to hearing the sermons on the three angels Maxine found an unexpected blessing in serving others, and felt compelled to keep working in our camp meeting kitchen. messages. But when she began working in our camp meeting kitchen, the realization that we had over 1,200 visitors to feed kept her working with her team every day. Maxine was like a breath of fresh air with her positive attitude, says camp meeting chef Melody Prettyman-Caviness. We laughed so hard as she taught us the King s English and we taught her some Southern! I kept encouraging her to attend the meetings for a few hours, but she wouldn t leave her post. Psalm 133:1 kept coming to mind, Maxine says. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! We were caring for the needs of others, and that spirit of service was an experience I needed. Those we fed were so grateful, and I got a chance to encourage others to volunteer next time. It s a blessing to serve in fact we were saved to serve! Most of my friends knew I was going on a little mission trip, but they didn t know where. I just told them I was going to minister to someone and now I see that they ministered to me! Might she be back next fall? Oh yes, she says. I m planning on it! Maxine was like a breath of fresh air with her positive attitude.

7 12 CHANGED LIVES God has so many ways to reach His children. Just look at a few of the letters and s we get every day. Blessed by Camp Meeting Althea sent us this note: I heard Danny Shelton speak today as I watched your 3ABN Spring Camp Meeting, and I d like you to know that I ve decided to rededicate my life to the Lord. For the last ten years I ve been living in a small town in Texas with no access to church, and many times, no access to the Internet. I lived in spiritual darkness for many of those years, and my heart was hardened, but today Kenny Shelton and Pastor Lomacang did an altar call, and I felt compelled to stand. I know it was the Holy Spirit calling me back to Jesus. While Pastor Lomacang prayed I cried, and after he prayed I felt a small softness in my heart. It s time for the spiritual darkness to go and let Jesus be the light of my life again. To hear Danny speak today was a divine appointment with Jesus! Moved by Music Jade wrote after listening to our 3ABN Radio Music Channel. I m listening from Sheffield, United Kingdom, and I had a really busy day and needed something to turn my thoughts fully to God. When I turned on your radio station the music provided just that, and I m truly grateful. Linda sent us an saying, Please let Yvonne Lewis-Shelton know that her CD entitled, Magnify Him, is absolutely beautiful. My friends in Bible Study listened to her song called, Just In Time and asked me to buy them a copy! Every song is so full of the Holy Spirit. I cry every time I listen to them. I am a newbie to the Seventh-day Adventist faith, but I have been a truth seeker since After being in many different denominations, I ve finally found the truth from the Adventist teachings and the Word of God. It took many years, but at last I ve found Him and totally surrendered my life. I was desperately seeking, and by God s providence, I began watching 3ABN to keep me moving forward to the truth. Answered Prayers Our pastoral staff answers thousands of calls from viewers and listeners seeking Bible answers, prayer, and encouragement. Recently, Joe O Brien spoke with Karlene, who told him that she had received unexpected encouragement when she called some days before and spoke with his colleague, Mitch Owen. I gave Mitch some of my story and my prayer request, and then he asked, Have you ever thought of writing a book? I was a bit startled and thought that it was funny he should ask, since just the week before, I d thought to myself, I should type that book I ve been meaning to write about how God has intervened in my life in miraculous ways. After praying, I started on the book, and now Mountain Mover has just been released. That s not what I d called to pray about, but that s what God wanted me to do. Carmen from Grand Junction, Colorado, wrote this: I want to thank the pastor I called the other night. I was watching several ladies on 3ABN talking about hard things that happen in their lives and he listened as I told him about the losses I d endured in a matter of weeks. He prayed for me and put me at peace with God. I don t remember his name, but I ll never forget him. The peace is still with me. For so long I have felt on the outside looking in, not knowing how to become a part of the family of God. Now I can say out loud, God loves me Helen! Has 3ABN been a blessing to you? Angie Lomacang looked into the camera and said, 'Are you going to church tomorrow? Go, and you will be blessed!' I watch that program every Friday night, and this past week I struggled with a headache when I got up on Sabbath morning. I was happy because I knew the Lord used Angie to speak to me and by the way, the topic of the sermon was Peace. Finding Truth Bob in Fort Dodge, Iowa, writes, I found your ministry on TV about a year-and-a-half ago. You have really opened my eyes to the truth. Thank you very much, and may God bless your ministry always. Helen, in Montgomery Village, Maryland, writes, I so love my 3ABN family! Thank you for the wonderful things you offer on 3ABN. Drain water from the canned jackfruit. 2. In a pot, bring water to a boil and add the jackfruit. Boil for about 30 minutes, checking periodically until it is tender and separates easily with a fork. 4. While jackfruit boils, sauté onions and garlic in a small amount of oil. 5. Drain water and add jackfruit to your favorite barbecue sauce in a saucepan. 6. Add sautéed onions and garlic. Simmer for 30 minutes to 1 hour on low heat. Alternately, you may also cook the jackfruit in a slow cooker for 3 or 4 hours to maximize the flavor; however, if you use this method, make sure you have enough sauce to adequately cover the fruit. 7.
