1 Anchor Boat Club W w w. a n c h o r b o a t c l u b. c o m President s Letter-Bill Schreck We had a GREAT membership turnout at the regular January meeting! LET S CONTINUE THE TREND! We have many issues to be settled in upcoming months your opinion is important in resolving those issues. Thank you for your attendance and, if you are not one of the attendees come see what s happening with YOUR club. The issues include: election of officers, voting on bylaws amendments, prioritizing capital improvements to the club, consideration of a proposed membership dues & work hours package, etc., etc. all makes for interesting and fun meetings. ELECTION OF OFFICERS: The election off officers for the year beginning in April will be held at the Club, from 1:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5, The ballot will include all current officers, except for Board of Governors and President. Tom Bland was nominated as the only candidate to replace Arnie Dutcher on the Board of Governors (Vote for One). Bill Schreck and Mike Hessler were nominated for President (vote for One some days seems like there s a need for two). Your choice - get involved in selecting your leaders for net year! BYLAWS: Two amendments to the bylaws have been proposed see the attached proposal. One is to establish an office for Past President to serve on the Executive Committee. It proposes to provide advisement to the president and continuity for ongoing activities of the club. The second proposal is to transfer the collection of membership dues and fees, work hour records and establishment of Saturday clean up teams to the Membership Committee which is currently a Bylaws Committee. CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS: We continue to identify capital improvement projects based on need, funding and/or member skills/talents to implement. Currently the priorities include: renovating office and storage rooms; installation of a walk-in cooler; exterior wall improvements; bar room carpeting; construction of a patio pavilion; etc. MEMBERSHIP DUES/HOURS PACKAGE: Current proposals on the table include: dues rate(s); Saturday clean up; committee assignments for all members ; work hours; probation period; etc. Decisions need to be made at the March meeting! BILL A letter from Mike and Katy Broglin A quick note of sincere thanks and gratitude to all my friends at the Anchor Boat Club. On February 8 th at 8:20 P.M. my dad Jimmy J. Broglin passed away. My dad loved the time he spent at the Club and the people that he met there; it was one off his very favorite places to be. I would like to personally thank each and every club member for making this possible, without your commitment to friendship, family, and the love of good times is what makes the Anchor Boat Club such a special to be a member and to bring family and friends. 3 Anchor Boat Club Ladies Auxiliary-Erica Thompson Is anyone interested in running for a Ladies Auxiliary officer s position? All and any nominations should be in by March 12th to our 2013 Nominating Committee Sonja McGrath or Paula Conder Ladies, we need your votes please come out on April 9th and vote! Please remember that your 2013 dues for the Ladies Auxiliary are due by our April 9th meeting. Mari Ross will chair our Installation Dinner. Details to follow at our April meeting. Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday March 23rd, 1pm-3pm. Please contact Brenda Jones or Erica Thompson with the number of kids that you will be bringing. We want to make sure that there are enough eggs and desserts for everyone. If you would like to help fill the Easter eggs, we will be filling them Tuesday March 12th at 6pm. Please contact Erica Thompson or Brenda Jones The Ladies Auxiliary have offered to pay for half of the carpet that will be going into the bar. We hope this helps the sound issue. Spring Volleyball meeting will be April 28th 6pm. Volleyball will begin May 2nd thru June 20th. There will be a break before fall volleyball starts in August. Cancer Fundraiser April 27th I would really love to see more Lady Auxiliary members coming to our meetings this year. Please try and make our meetings, your input and ideas are important! Our February attendance drawing winner was: Brenda Jones Our February full membership drawing winner was: Donna Maxwell.rollover since Donna was not present. Please always think of any events/fundraisers that the Ladies Auxiliary can do. **Did you know that if you are a member in good standing that your significant other can join the Ladies Auxiliary for $10? So why not! Please come out and join us at our next meeting. Our next meeting will be April 9th, 2013

4 PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE ANCHOR BOAT CLUB BY-LAWS Bracketed sections shall be removed, and underlined shall be added. ARTICLE VI OFFICERS SECTION 1. The officers shall consist of a President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Sergeant -at-arms, Immediate Past President and four members of the Board of Governors. SECTION 3. The Vice-President s duties shall be: (b. To serve as the Ex-Officio Chairperson of the Membership Committee.) (c. To collect membership dues and monitor work hours.) (d. To collect campground and dock fees.) (e. To publish in each month s newsletter the Saturday clean-up list, giving at least two months notice of member s required work date.) b. To serve as standing committees coordinator to ensure coordination and cooperation within and between all committees. c. To do and perform such other acts and duties as generally pertain to the office. SECTION 8. The duties of the Immediate Past President shall be: To serve as an adviser to the President. To provide continuity to the transfer of authority. ARTICLE VII COMMITTEES SECTION1. The Executive Committee shall consist of the President, Vice President,,,,, Immediate Past President and the Board of Governors. SECTION 9. The dock which was formerly owned by Mike Scott is for sale. The cost is $10,000. It was under construction last summer, but was never completed. It is dock 18. Failure to do so will result in a $40.00 fee to be paid to those that work, and an additional 10 work hours will be added to your card. Please arrive at 9:00 a.m., or contact the other members for a mutually agreeable, earlier time. If you are unable to make your scheduled cleanup, you are responsible for finding a replacement. Saturday Morning Clean-Up Duties Clean/wipe off all tables (place chairs on tables). Empty all trash receptacles including outside trash cans. Wash cans if necessary, then replace the liners. Sweep all floors. Inspect showers and clean if necessary (Basement showers as well). Mop all floors. Clean bathrooms (sinks, stools, etc.) Clean bar area. Stock all coolers. Replace all floor mats. Restock bathrooms (deodorizer, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) Place chairs on floor. Clean dirty dishes in kitchen (within reason), then put away.
