1 Trinity United Methodist Church 75 East High Street, Mount Gilead, Ohio The Chimes April 2018 Sunday, 4/1 Easter Sunday 8:30 a.m. Worship (Upper Room) 9:30 a.m. - Breakfast (Trinity Hall) 10:30 a.m. Worship (Sanctuary) If Easter means anything to modern man, it means that eternal truth is eternal. You may nail it to the tree, wrap it up in grave clothes and seal it in a tomb. But truth crushed to earth shall rise again. Truth does not perish. It cannot be destroyed. It may be distorted. It has been silenced temporarily. It has been compelled to carry its cross to Calvary s brow but with an inevitable certainty, after every Black Friday dawns truth s Easter morn. Donald H. Tippet

2 Thank you Thank you all so much for everything you ve done to help our family after we had a house fire. That was so swee of you all and very much appreciated! - Molly McCracken & Family 1 John 3:2 says, We know that when Christ comes, we will be like him, because we will see him as he really is. After Jesus resurrection the early believers saw Jesus in his resurrection body. Thus, based on their testimony, by faith we trust in our resurrected Lord. Of course, our eyes have not yet seen him. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13, Now we see as through a glass dimly, but one day face to face. We too will see Jesus, our resurrected Lord. One promise of God s word is that at that time we will be like him. We too will have resurrected bodies. But so too will we have glorified hearts. Max Lucado says in Just Like Jesus: When you arrive in heaven something wonderful will happen. A final transformation will take place. You will be just like Jesus. Of all the blessings of heaven one of the greatest will be for you! You will be God s magnum opus, His work of art. The angels will gasp. God s work will be completed. At last, you will have a heart like His. You will love with a perfect love. You will worship with a radiant face. You ll hear each word God speaks. Your heart will be pure. Your words will be like jewels. Your thoughts will be like treasures. You will be just like Jesus. You will at long last have a heart like His. This is not to say that even now we are not like Jesus. It is just that the perfect has not yet come. We still fight against flesh, the devil, and the world, which all tend to pull us down. For now, in the power of the Holy Spirit, we strive to be like Jesus. We all know we fall short. But what a promise that comes to us from the resurrected Christ who died on the cross one day we will be completely like him! God bless during the Easter celebration of the cross and resurrection of Christ. Have a Happy Spring! Pastor Jeff Missions Committee Diapers needed Heartbeat of Morrow County is a pregnancy and parenting resource center in an environment in which every human heart is cherished and protected. They are a faith-based, Christian organization that is dedicated to serving God and the community. Unlike some similar organizations, Heartbeat does not receive government support. Their money comes from donations and fundraising events. One of their programs, Earn While You Learn, offers clients a chance to earn Baby Bucks which can be used to buy diaper, wipes, new clothing and gently used furniture and equipment from the Heartbeat Boutique. It is a challenge to keep the Boutique stocked. Their immediate needs are for diapers, sizes 3, 5, and 6, and baby wipes. From April 8 through May 6 the Mission Committee will be collecting packages of diapers (sizes 3, 5, and 6) and baby wipes for Heartbeat s Boutique. Name brands are not necessary, any brand is welcome. If you prefer, you can donate cash by writing a check to Heartbeat of Morrow County. The money will be used to purchase diapers. Look for the collection basket in the narthex or shopping cart in the Upper Room. Thank you, Your Mission Committee Evangelism Tip We draw people to Christ not by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it. Madeleine L Eng

Over $306 billion dollars. Midwest sent over 14,000 cleaning buckets to these areas to help with the cleanup efforts. Now with the warmer temperatures coming at the time of this writing, the snow piled high everywhere, it will melt and create another problem, flooding. We are looking for sponsors to purchase Cleaning Buckets! Would your Sunday School class, Bible Study group, Community Service organization, Scouts, or family like to sponsor a Cleaning Bucket? The cost of the bucket and its supplies is $65. It is cheaper for the Midwest Distribution Center in Chatham, Illinois to purchase the supplies in bulk to keep it at this cost. Therefore we are asking for monetary donations only. The money for the Cleaning Buckets needs to be turned into Trinity United Methodist Church, 75 East High Street, Mt. Gilead, by June 30 along with a form. You can pick up forms in the Narthex, Upper Room and church office. Thank you, any donation will help this campaign be a success. The Midwest Mission Team Why we need Easter No one is exempt from tragedy or disappointment even God was not exempt. Jesus offered no immunity, no way out of the unfairness, but rather a way through it to the other side. Just as Good Friday demolished the instinctive belief that this life is supposed to be fair, Easter Sunday followed with its startling clue to the riddle of the universe. Out of the darkness, a bright light shone. The cross of Christ may have overcome evil, but it did not overcome unfairness. For that, Easter is required, a bright clue that someday God will restore all physical reality to its proper place. - Philip Yancey, Disappointment With God
