2 ANNUAL REPORTS 2016 Once again, congregations and pastoral charges will be publishing their reports for the year just ended (2016) and having their Annual Meetings. Please remember that the Oversight Committee needs copies of these reports, once they have been approved. If your report is available in electronic format, we would appreciate receiving it as an attachment. That facilitates sharing these documents with members of our visiting teams, as well as saving paper and postage costs. Our forests and our budgets will love you, to say nothing of the limited storage space in my den! Otherwise, please bring three print copies of the report, when available, to the next Presbytery meeting. Let s strive again to get 100% submissions of reports in 2017! 5 ANNOUNCEMENT FOR MINISTER The Arden Pastoral Charge of The United Church of Canada is seeking a full-time minister, either a student intern, an ordinand or an ordained minister in salary category A or B (less than four years of eligible service). We are a rural, three point charge in the Land O Lakes Region of Eastern Ontario, with a wide variety of congregants ranging from farmers to retired cottagers. We are looking for someone willing to live in our manse and enthusiastic about being part of a community that we love. Whether it s teaching the history of Turtle Island, sponsoring refugees, or building the first hospital, school or university, spiritual and faith groups have contributed to the fabric of Kingston for 150 years plus many years before. This year when Canada is celebrating its 150+ year history the people of Kingston would benefit from hearing how your community is right now and has in the past contributed to the fabric of Kingston. Are you planning an event in the Summer or Fall 2017 that you would be willing to share with the rest of Kingston and area? Is your community hosting: A Spiritual Event; A Community Building Gathering; An Event focusing on Social Justice or Peace Making, or A Creative Arts or Music Event? It could be as simple as an afternoon tea! If so, we would love to hear from you! Who are we, you ask? Two people in Kingston, quite independently, thought the 150+ celebrations would be incomplete without hearing from the faith and spiritual traditions that have been woven into today s Kingston. One person had the idea to apply for funding made available through the Community Foundation, Canada 150 and the City of Kingston. The application was successful and money was raised. We would like to share this money to give you an opportunity to tell your story. Toward, the end of the year, likely in November, we are envisioning a celebration during which we will feast and sing and dance and dream about how the next 150+ years could look as we seek to deepen our understanding and respect for one another and live in right relationship.
