3 3 And the Walls Came Tumbling Down... The Rec Hall, also known as Ogilvie Hall back in the day, has come down. The oldest building left in camp was deemed no longer safe. It housed many campers over the years and I m sure if walls could talk, it would have had many stories to share...

4 4 Brigade Camp at Stony Glen Camp Theme TRUTH-CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH? CEDARBROOK CAMP OF OHIO AT STONY GLEN Summer Theme: QUEST R Y A N - C A M P E R What I really enjoyed about Brigade Camp at Stony Glen was woodsmanship because I like nature, and I think it s a really good experience for kids to get out in nature and learn to do stuff on their own. I m looking forward to going back next year because I really like woodsmanship. Neo [the leader], was cool and funny. It s also a good time to catch up with friends you ve made in the past years. C H R I S S H A R K E Y - C A M P E R, J U N I O R C O U N - S E L O R I started going to Brigade Camp at Stony Glen after finishing 5th grade. I had a blast that first summer, and went back every summer after that until I left for college. For the first few years, my motivation for going to camp was my friends and the different activities. I got to do everything from riflery to paintball to aviation. It was amazing! When I turned 15, I got the opportunity to be a junior counselor. The four summers that I worked as a Junior Counselor were summers that God transformed my life. My first summer, I learned about what it looks like to be a servant leader, and the principles I learned that summer as a 15-year-old, I still use today. During my third summer as a junior counselor, I learned a valuable lesson about depending on God and praying without ceasing. On top of that, I had a breakthrough moment in my faith when I finally realized that Christianity is about an active, day-by-day relationship with God. I still look back on those summers with thankfulness for how God changed my heart each summer. Stony Glen has not only given me fun memories to look back on, but it has left a spiritual legacy in my life. S T O N Y G L E N N E W S Its been six years and seven summers since I first set foot in Cedarbrook Camp of Ohio. I ve never once missed a year. You could say I m addicted. That s bound to happen when you discover a place that has Christ at the center of everything they do. Long ago, the men who first created Stony Glen dedicated the land to God as a place where boys and girls could grow to learn more about Him-and God has truly been faithful to show up there. Because, when you dedicate your life to Christ, He shows up in amazing ways. Cedarbrook Camp of Ohio at Stony Glen has profoundly impacted my life-not because we do camp well, not because of our intentionality in everything we do, not because we have amazing facilities, fun activities, and a hard-working, fun-loving, compassionate staff who cares about kids (although all of that is true). No, it s not because of any of that, but rather because Cedarbrook Camp of Ohio at Stony Glen is a place dedicated to God with the goal of teaching kids to live the Christian life 24/7. And when God is part of everything that goes on, you can t help but meet Him. And when you truly meet God, no matter where that is, you will never be the same. 5 5 Weekend Retreat Fun CSB KLONDIKE PARMA HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH Recently our Youth Ministry enjoyed an amazing weekend away at Stony Glen. Personally, Stony Glen has great significance to me as I have been attending week long camps, family camps, weekend retreats, and family getaways here since I was a young child. Now as a youth pastor, I look forward to each opportunity we have to bring our students here. Every time is fun, exciting, and spiritually impacting. This past retreat we saw two students trust Christ for salvation. In addition to that our group enjoyed passionate worship in the chapel and learned practical and relevant life lessons from God s word. Of course our group always looks forward to the hikes throughout the camp, competitions in the gym, and open discussions in the cabins. One of the many things that keeps us coming back year after year is the attitude of service by each of the camp staff. They re always an encouragement and a joy to work with.
