The congregation of OPC will surely miss her, but congratulate her, and wish her well. Now OPC finds itself in a period of transition. 2 JANUARY 2016 PAGE 2 ORACLE DEADLINE The February 2016 Oracle Deadline is Monday, January 18th. PRESBYTERY REPORT The stated meeting of the Presbytery of Genesee Valley was held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Gates Presbyterian Church. Cathy Forester, the new moderator, opened the meeting with a celebration of song and prayer. Susan Orr, Presbyter of Mission and Education, presented on mission and education opportunities. The call of Rev. Janet Ann Hufford to Mendon Presbyterian Church was approved. Rev. Tom Taylor was approved for retirement after many years of service within the presbytery. After much discussion, the presbytery approved the dissolution of the pastor of the Rochester Korean United Presbyterian Church. The Commissioners to the 222nd General Assembly, which will be held in Portland, Oregon in June, were presented and approved. Our own Zach Caloritis is the YAAD delegate. Robert Wallace, Commissioner TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY How does my health affect my relationship with God? How does my physical condition affect my relationship with others? What does God expect of me in regard to the stewardship of my body? How can God use me in situations that seem out of control? Join us on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 9:30am in the Oak Room as we explore these topics. We will be using If God Is In Control, Why Do I Have a Headache? by Debbie Taylor Williams. This 6-week, Scripture-intensive study offers thoughtful looks at Esther, Peter s mother-in-law, Hannah, Martha, and Mary Magdalene. Their stories reveal that God cared deeply about their physical struggles, and the author shows us that He cares deeply about our own health struggles including stress, nutrition, exercise, and depression. All of OPC women and their friends are invited. For more information, or if you would like a copy of the book, please contact Anne Wallace. SPENCERPORT FOOD SHELF NEEDS Current needs: Corn bread mix, canned fruit, pudding mix, Jell-O, Canned Meat, Stew, Hash, Chili, Packaged Cookies, and Rice. Cash and/or gift cards are always welcome. There are 120 families on the active list that benefit from your donations. See Jean Schult or Andy Resch if you wish to donate cash. GET RID OF YOUR LOOSE CHANGE Once again, the Missions Committee will be collecting loose change for the Spencerport Human Needs Fund. The coin jar will be on the Mission table. Thank you for your help!
