2 Page 2 From the Pastor A wise man once said that worry just cuts us off from the peace and presence of God. We need to remember, God is the One who can help us to not be consumed by anxiety. He tells us we can receive His help in Philippians 4:6-7. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. WEEKLY REPORT February 12, 2017 Sunday School Enrollment 677 Attendance 307 Homebound Enrollment 19 Weekly Budget Requirement $18, Received this Week $19, Building Fund Received this Week $ Received this Month $ Prayer can be defined as adoration of God. Worry would be in direct contrast to prayer. Instead of pouting, we should praise. Instead of worrying, we should worship. Verse 6 lets us know that we should enter into the sphere of God s presence by prayer. Then we should make supplication, or ask for help in specific areas of our lives. Listening for an answer should be high on our list after making our requests. Listen for a go (yes), no, or slow (not yet). Be sure to add on a PS to every petition with thanksgiving, just as Philippians 4:6 says. When we have done this, the peace of God, which surpasses all of our earthly understanding will guard our hearts and minds. God is calling us to direct our minds toward Him and away from the needless anxieties we tend to hold on to. Looking forward to Sunday! Bro.
