Deacon Dr. Henry McCurtis & Deaconess Dr. Sydney Bush (co-leaders of Abyssinian s Good Grief Bereavement Ministry), will co-facilitate Grief and Bereavement Sessions with residents at The Abyssinian Towers every three months, on 2 nd Tuesdays. 12 SCHOLARSHIP The Pearls of Service Foundation, Inc., the philanthropic arm of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Pi Kappa Omega Chapter, will award four scholarships to deserving students: Three undergraduate college scholarships to an African-American or Latino American student who is enrolled full-time in an accredited four year college or university commencing in the summer or fall of 2018, and The Jimmia Joy Blakely-Woodyard Memorial Medical Scholarship to an African- American or Latina woman currently pursuing a degree in the field of medicine (i.e., nursing, medicine, pharmacology, etc.). Help a student who lives in an affordable housing development further his or her educational training by helping spread the word about the Cannon Heyman & Weiss Scholarship Fund. Scholarships will be awarded to successful, qualified applicants and will offer financial aid for full and part-time study at approved colleges, junior colleges, technical schools, and other post-secondary institutions leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate. Graduate studies are not included. This year's awards are expected as follows: $10,000 $7,500 $5,000 The Scholarship Fund is an extension of the CHW mission and reflective of our commitment to the affordable housing industry and community development.
