2 - Don t grieve for me for now I m free I m following in the path God has for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work, or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I found peace at the end of the day. If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joys A friend shared, a laugh, a kiss Oh yes, these things I, too, will miss. Be not burdened with time of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow, My life s been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts, and share with me, God wanted me NOW, He has set me FREE.

3 Obituary Walter Edward Vinson was born May 6, 1951, to the late Walter and Edith Mason Vinson in Augusta Georgia. He was the second of four sons. He married Doris Ann Murray on February 1, To this union were born two children, Consuela and Walter Junior. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He attended Weed Academy Elementary School, A.R. Johnson Junior High School and Lucy Laney High School where he graduated with Honors. He continued his education at Augusta College with a major in Sociology. He later earned an Associate Degree in Electronics at Augusta Technical Institute. He was employed at Kennametal where he retired after twentyseven years of service. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Gumming Grove Baptist Church. He served on the usher board when he was young. He was a devoted church member until he became ill. He loved Bible Study and working around the church. He was a willing servant to the church. His passions included God, family, working on cars, especially his Nova (which he called "silver bullet"), and having fiery debates with the controversial Austin Rhodes. He was loved by many, but God loved him best. Walter was called to rest on June 6,2005 after a long struggle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Vinson Hope; his father, Walter Vinson and his brother, Calvin Robbins. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories: a loving wife, Doris Vinson; two daughters, Tonya Vinson and Consuela Vinson; a son, Walter Edward Vinson, Jr., all from Atlanta; two grandchildren, Edith Elon Courtney and Jabari Marcellus Courtney; two brothers, Ronald L. Vinson (Evelyn) and Kenneth E. Vinson (Sylvia), both from Augusta; a sister-in-law, Patricia Jefferson of Augusta; one great aunt, Eloise Mason of Augusta; six nieces and nephews, James Calvin, Shannon Jefferson, Casey Vinson, Stacey Vinson, Erika Vinson and Kenneth Vinson; mother-in-law, Helen Murray; six sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; and other relatives and friends. ca ca ca ca ca ca ca

6 To Edward from your wife: By Annie You said before you died, that I was the key to your heart. But the truth is, you were mine. I asked the Lord above, to answer my prayers That you would come back. But, that wouldn t be fair. I now know that you re happy where you are. Safe in the arms of Jesus, without any cares. But I want you to know, that I still love you so. And I ll go on living for Him, Knowing that His light will never dim. Someday together we ll be, But, until then, the Lord will take care of me. So, keep on watching, It won t be long that from this world, I ll be gone. Into your arms once again, Safe from all the worldly harm.

8 If tears could build a stairway And Memories -were a lane. We would walk all the way to heaven To bring you home again. No farewell words were spoken No times to say "good bye ". You were gone before we knew it And only the Lord knows why. Our hearts still ache in sadness And secret tears still flow. What it meant to lose you No one would ever know. We love and miss you.
