3 14 From your Senior Warden ST. MARY S 2010 STAFF AND VESTRY 3 Is summer almost over? It seems that it went faster than usual. I hope everyone had some time off to kick back and enjoy it. The church looks great and was a center of activity. We have lost some loved ones and we have had to have people step up to make sure things were taken care of and maybe it was not the same but St, Mary s endured, thanks to so many that filled in where and when we needed you. Also a special thanks for all who made the Relay For Life so successful. We mailed off the stuffed animals and they will be there in about 2 weeks. We will be mailing some more as we get them. You all make St. Mary s special!! I know I had a trying summer with my sister s cancer and feel that I had let some things go but I am so glad God did not take a vacation because he has been there to comfort me and give me strength to proceed. 6 6 NURSES' NOTES Sept Servants in His Service 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 11 5th 2010 Children are returning to school, September is soon upon us and Fall and Winter will not be far behind. Fall and Winter are flu season and children will assuredly be bringing home all sorts of germs they have collected at school. This is the time to review the immunization records of the whole family. Lectors Rev. Gretchen Chalice Bearers L. Campbell J Langston Fran Maza S. Hollingswor th K. Smelter LaVerne Campbell L. Meserole F. Maza Fran Maza A Millington M. Dietz LaVerne Campbell -- While the schools monitor student immunization records, it is important to keep adult immunizations up to date also. A Tetanus booster is recommended every 7 years for adults. Recently, recommendations for adults to have a Whooping Cough (Pertussis) booster are being circulated. Whooping cough is on the rise in Idaho and the pertussis vaccine you may have received as a child does not provide lifetime protection. Teller s Ushers Pat Murphy J. Azpitarte J. Langston 8:00 am J. England 10:00 am Schuermann s Flu and pneumonia vaccines will be available in a month or so through various clinics and doctor's offices and must be taken every year and the vaccine varies from year to year depending on which strain of flu is projected to be the most likely culprits. Those adults over 65, adults with chronic health issues and seniors who care for school age children should have the flu vaccine unless contraindicated by your physician. As with all health issues, if you have questions or concerns, contact your family doctor. Maintaining your optimal health is YOUR responsibility. Along with nutrition fittness, immunizations provide another layer of protection between you and preventable diseases. As always, good infection control measures are your front line defense: cough or sneeze into your elbow or cover your mouth with a tissue (then discard the tissue) and NOTHING beats thorough and frequent handwashing to keep germs in their place.
