2 if you have ever dreamed... IF YOU HAVE EVER DREAMED of being involved in a full-scale musical extravaganza, then this is the opportunity you have been waiting for. Singers age 16 and older are invited to join. For more about the CMI CONCERT CHOIR go to HOW TO BECOME A PERFORMING MEMBER or us at info@thurlowspurr.com or call REHEARSAL INFORMATION Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014: 12:30 4:00 pm Registration & Orientation: 12:30 1:00 pm Choir Rehearsal:1:00 4:00 pm REHEARSAL LOCATION: Trinity Church Six Mile Road, Livonia, MI * Please info@thurlowspurr.com if you are interested in joining the The CMI Kidz (6-12), The CMI Girlz (13 19), or The CMI Boyz (11-18) welcome Thank You for coming. We have spent countless hours preparing every tiny piece of this performance. We have eagerly looked forward to you and your friends enjoying not only the incredible music of Christmas, but watching and hearing some of the most talented ordinary people share their gift of song, dance, narrations and fun. Every year for the past 41 seasons we have given you, our friends, our best.this time is no different. Since we believe that people listen with their eyes we planned some special images and effects that we hope will enhance the beloved songs in this show. Our entire cast has been a part of the creative process. Day by day and week by week they have reached for excellence. Good enough never was. There are three distinct reasons why we have raised the bar this high. We knew that you would be here to see and hear it all. We also knew you would invite others to join you. For some it is a unique early Christmas gift. We wanted it to be a night of Joy from the beginning until the very end. The third reason is we could only justify the celebration of the Birthday of a King with our best. So Happy Birthday Jesus. We give you the entirety of our time, talent, and love. But most of all we ve given you our hearts. Most warmly, Thurlow &Kathey Spurr P.S. If you are a singer/musician you could use your musical gift starting in January right here alongside of us. You will absolutely love this musical adventure. We guarantee it!

Come with us now, back to the little town of Bethlehem and experience A Night to Remember.
5 directors THURLOW SPURR PRODUCER/DIRECTOR The word legendary is often used too generously these days. To be considered legendary, a musician needs to build a practical and enduring body of work a work that continues to influence people over the years. In this instance, legendary is the perfect word to describe Thurlow Spurr. When one person can lay claim to a resume of producing and directing over 20,000 live shows (from the U.S. to North Korea, South Korea, the Kremlin in Russia, and several trips to Israel) in 50 years, as well as produce over 100 audio and video recordings and command performances for four U.S. Presidents Nixon, Carter, Ford, and Reagan it becomes quite clear the incredible impact Thurlow Spurr has made on the gospel music industry. In 1959, he created a traveling gospel group called The Spurrlows. The Spurrlows became so popular and renowned for their ability to communicate that the Chrysler Corporation hired them to represent Chrysler in over 3,000 concerts worldwide. The Spurrlows were just the first of many traveling groups formed by Thurlow himself. In the past five decades, he has assembled over 50 different groups for road shows around the world. He has been connected with booking and management for well-known artists in the Christian music field such as Dino, Karen Wheaton and Larnelle Harris. Still represented by Spurr, Larnelle Harris continues to travel the world as one of the premier vocalists of our generation. Thurlow s contributions and achievements vary from Musical Director for the annual Dove Awards to Producer of dozens of award winning television specials, as well as hundreds of daily and weekly television shows. He has produced shows such as The Bob Hope Special - NBC Television Network, The Readers Choice Awards Show, The Charisma 15th Anniversary Special, as well as shows for Eastern Airlines, American Motors, Busch Gardens, Hershey Park and Sea World. He has also produced awardwinning Christmas specials for television: Let Heaven and Nature Sing, America s Young Majority, Dino s Piano Praise, and Larnelle Live. Thurlow has been the Minister of Music at the Salem Baptist Church in Winston- Salem, North Carolina, the First Church of the Nazarene in Detroit, Michigan, Calvary Assembly in Orlando, Florida and Metro Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. In one of his latest endeavors, he has created one of the most unique anthologies of the worlds most beloved and enduring music called The Thurlow Spurr Collection. Arranged for concert piano and orchestra it is a unique collection of the world s greatest and most loved hymns, love songs, Broadway hits and classical pieces, as well as the finest patriotic and Christmas music. Thurlow Spurr is a man dedicated to working for the Kingdom of God. A man of great passion, known not only for his musical prowess, but also for his motivational skills, he continues to captivate audiences the world over with an infectious enthusiasm for his craft, his flair for dramatic stage direction and his dedication to a higher standard of excellence and presentation. However, Spurr contends that his greatest accomplishment is personal. Today Thurlow lives in Orlando, Florida, and is happily married to Kathey, an accomplished vocalist, pianist and constant companion. They are blessed with a thirteen-year-old daughter, Maddie Mae. KATHEY GRATZ SPURR CO-PRODUCER/ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Kathey is originally from Bluffton, Ohio, and holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music Degrees in vocal performance. She has been a featured soloist in oratorios, operas, musicals and contemporary Christian music. She has toured extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Orient with the show group Common Ground who frequently appeared on national television, in Las Vegas and on several USO tours. She has made special appearances with Bob Hope, Roy Clark, David Copperfield, Danny Thomas, Johnny Cash, Phyllis Diller, Joan Rivers, and Jay Leno, and has sung for Presidents Ford and Reagan. While living in Nashville she taught private vocal and piano instruction. Kathey was also a studio demo singer and achieved success in commercial jingle work. She acted in national television commercials for Holiday Inn, Ladies Mennen Speed Stick, Century 21, Avon and American Beauty Cosmetics, to name a few. Kathey also entertained at the Vanderbilt Plaza Hotel and the Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville. Kathey has been the Musical Director for City Road United Methodist Church in Nashville as well as directing church choirs in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She has conducted clinics in performance and acting techniques at colleges and universities around the country including Anderson College in Indiana and Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma. She has also taught voice at the University of Mobile in Alabama. With over 25 years of performing, producing and directing experience, Kathey is co-producer of the CMI Concert Choir and directs The Brotherhood, The Thurlow Spurr Singers, The CMI Girlz, The Kidz, The Boyz and The Swingin Sounds. Collaborating with Janeen Livings and Brittany Smith, both professional choreographers, she has designed the choreography this year. Kathey is married to noted producer and CMI executive director, Thurlow Spurr; together they home school their daughter, Maddie Mae.
