The first appearance of Babylon in it s various forms is in Genesis 10:10 under the name BABEL Babel was the first of four cities founded by Nimrod as the first post- Diluvian kingdom Babel was in the land of SHINAR but also considered to be in the land of the CHALDEANS Eze 12:13 My net also will I spread upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet shall he not see it, though he shall die there.

Shinar was situated in plain and Nimrod and his followers came to it from the East Babel was the capital of a global government and religion formed under Nimrod in rebellion against God Babel was not finished and, by implication, neither was the tower of Babel (the unfinished pyramid is a similar concept) when the Lord brought the judgment of the confusion of tongues and scattered the people

13 Babel means to confound because it was there that God brought the judgment of the confusion of tongues Babel is the central point from which humanity spread throughout the earth after the Flood taking the Babylonian system of government, religion, and economics with them (i.e.- Babylon is the womb from which all human society was birthed; it is the mother world system) Isa 23:13 Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin. The land of the Chaldeans was founded by THE ASSYRIAN (Nimrod) and had TOWERS (i.e.- ziggurats) The Assyrian brought the land to RUIN The word RUIN appears 11x (# of JUDGMENT) It is associated with idolatry (2 Chr 28:23), those who are given to change (Pro 24:22), a flattering mouth (Pro 26:28), iniquity (Eze 18:30), the ASSYRIAN (Isa 23:13; Eze 31:13), and those who build their house without a foundation (Luke 6:49)
