1 Jewish Children s Museum SCHOOL PROGRAMS Winter 12 Spring 13 בס"ד GO BEYOND THE CLASSROOM! Visit the Jewish Children s Museum for an interactive learning adventure, guided by trained museum educators. Your students will explore Jewish themes and holidays with our fun-filled programs and exclusive workshops.
2 Scheduling your Visit Registration Reservations are required for all school visits. Please call our reservations office at or Your trip is reserved only upon receipt of the confirmation or fax. A credit card number is required to make all reservations. A 50% non-refundable deposit will be charged. Deposits will not be refunded for no-shows or cancellations. Balance is expected at arrival; we accept cash, check or credit card. If you need to cancel, we will gladly reschedule your trip (and transfer your deposit) if notified no less than 2 weeks prior to your visit date. Original program availability for requested date is not guaranteed. Visits must be rescheduled within 30 days of cancellation. Times Sundays: 10:00 AM & 10:30 AM Mon Thurs: 10:00 AM & 12:30 PM Elementary programs are 2 hours in length. Preschool programs are 1½ hours in length (with the exception of Mitzvot and Me which is 1¾ hours in length). Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your scheduled visit. Program will be shortened for late arrivals. Rates The museum offers indoor lunch facilities for school visits. Please reserve space at time of reservation. Per-student rates vary according to program; see individual program descriptions. Minimum group fee is $150, regardless of group size or program. One complimentary chaperone is permitted for every five pre-school children. One complimentary chaperone is permitted for every 10 students in first grade and older. Chaperones exceeding the required ratio pay the perstudent fee. Special Needs Groups: Minimum group fee is $100. Chaperones are free. Save money! All programs booked for the 12:30 afternoon session (Monday Thursday) are $6 per student (minimum $120).

Structured around some of our most popular permanent exhibits, this program offers an overview of general Jewish concepts. Students will relive famous biblical stories and explore traditions and ceremonies. Through exhibit play and hands-on crafts, students are encouraged to think and gain deeper understanding of Jewish life. Grade 1-2: Kosher Supermarket, Six Days of Creation, Patriarchs and Matriarchs Grades 3-6: Six Days of Creation, A New Nation, Land of Israel Enhance your Judaic preschool curriculum with a hands-on Jewish experience. Your students will crawl through the world s largest challah, shop in a kid-size kosher supermarket, and visit famous biblical people and places. Children will see, touch, and learn though exhibit play, and enhance their fine motor skills doing an educational craft. Preschool I-II: Kosher Supermarket, Shabbat Table, Noah s Ark Grade K: Kosher Supermarket, Shabbat Table, Patriarchs and Matriarchs Who are the Jewish people? Where do they come from? What are the reasons behind their traditions? Cultural Connections introduces students to a colorful array of customs and traditions in the Jewish culture. Participants will step back in time to meet the very first Jew; shop in a kid-sized kosher supermarket; and play the gumball-pinball charity game. As students examine the roots and basis for many Jewish customs, they will recognize manners of conduct that stand at the root of practices found in other cultures around the world.
