2 eet the family oah was a good man. n fact, he was the only good man left in the whole world! God was angry with everyone else. he people who lived in his world were cruel to each other. hey stole and lied and hurt each other, and forgot about the way God wanted them to live. oah was an old man. e had a wife and three grown-up sons. is sons were called hem, am and Japheth. ach of oah s sons had a wife. oah trusted God. o when God asked oah to do something very strange, he did it! God told him to build a huge boat called an ark. God planned to send a flood to wash the arth clean. nly oah and his family would survive. hey would be safe inside the ark. Genesis 6, verses 5 to 10 omething to think about: God promised to save oah s whole family. magine if your family was the only one left in the world! rayer: ear God, thank you for my family. elp me to do something kind for each one of them today. men ctivity: oah had three sons. an you name each one? 3 s oah going crazy? 5 God told oah how to build the ark. Get some good strong wood to build the boat and cover it inside and out with tar. t needs to be 133 metres long, 22 metres wide and 13 metres high. ut a roof on the top and build rooms inside. he boat should be three storeys high. ut a door on one side. When the flood comes, you will be safe. oah did as God asked and built the ark. eople watched and wondered. hey even laughed at him! What was he doing building a boat so far from the sea? Genesis 6, verses 11 to 18 omething to think about: t s sometimes difficult to do the right thing. t s even harder when everyone else around you is doing something different and they laugh at you. rayer: elp me, ord God, to be brave enough to do what is good and right, even if others try to stop me. ctivity: oah used lots of tools to build the ark. an you name these three tools? 4

4 oah rounds up the animals When God made the world, he had put all kinds of animals there to live. o God told oah to bring animals, birds and reptiles into the ark, male and female of every kind. God told oah to store up food to bring on board to feed them all. God wanted there to be animals on the arth after the flood too. will send rain for forty days and nights, said God, and a great flood will cover every living thing in the world. nly oah, his family and the animals would be safe inside the ark.
