3 Proposed Usage This book contains several parts. Pages 6-38 are the main text. It is recommended that you print one copy of pages 6-38 for each child in your home. Then decide what supplemental material you will use. Supplement Puzzles

4 About this book My Journey with Jesus Christ is a personalized devotional. It is designed to help your child grow in his/her relationship with God while helping him/her understand some key principles of the Christian faith. It includes space for your child s name throughout the book and space for you to paste four photos of your child. My Journey with Jesus Christ is designed to involve your child in the concepts that are being taught. This is done by simply and carefully explaining each concept and then asking your child to engage in an activity. By engaging in the activity, it is hoped that your child will personalize the concept and thus integrate it into his/her thinking and behavior. Each section of the book includes a brief lesson about a Christian principle. At the end of each lesson are several lines for you to write a love note or prayer to your child (please see the example on the next page). Each lesson is then followed by a drawing activity for your child. While the lesson may be used in any order, it is best to use them in the arranged order because it tells the Christian story in chronological order, from beginning to end. While working through this book, your child will learn basic biblical principles about his/her relationship with Jesus Christ. Younger children may need help understanding some of the words and concepts in the book. Please use simple words and concepts to explain. As much as possible, let your child decide what to draw and/or write. It may be helpful to give your child a new box of crayons or colored pencils. While younger children like to illustrate books, because images come more naturally to them than words, older children are more comfortable expressing themselves verbally and may use words with their illustrations. As your child works through this book, focus on ideas and experiences rather than drawing ability.

7 My Dearest, Long ago, God made a very important decision... one that I am very happy He made. He made a decision to make you and place you in my life. When He placed you in my life, He gave me a big job to raise you to be the best you possible. Some things are so important that you need to hear them directly from me. This book was created with all my love to help you learn these very important lessons that Jesus Christ wants me to teach you. I love you always. Remember that I am praying for you morning, noon and night. Love,

8 A C T S You can use the word ACTS to help you remember the different types of prayer. Read below to learn to fancy words and how to pray. A is for ADORATION. Adoration is talking to God about who He is. You can pray in adoration by thinking of all the names for God, Yahweh, Lord, King. Righteous One C is for CONFESSION. Confession is telling God about the wrong things you have done (sins). We all do wrong sometimes, whether it is disobeying, lying, not listening, saying mean things, hit or yell, God will forgive you if you just ask. T is for THANKSGIVING. Thanksgiving is remembering to say thank you to God for all He has given you. There is always so much to thank God for people to take care of you, a home, clothes, Jesus, family and friends. S is for SUPPLICATION. Supplication is asking God to help you with a need or someone you know with a need. God loves everyone and is always waiting to hear your needs. He is never too busy to help you with your needs and no need is too big or small.

9 Jesus Loves You For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (NIV) Do you remember ever hearing the song Jesus Loves Me? It is true! Jesus loves you. The fact that Jesus loves you should make you very happy; so happy that you should try your best to do things that Jesus wants you to do. I am praying that you continue to grow in Jesus love. I see the love of Jesus in your life in the following ways:

12 God Keeps All His Promises The Lord will keep all His promises. Psalm 145:13 (NCV) Do you know that God keeps all his promises (Psalms 145:13)? Long ago, there was a man named Noah. He was a good man and he obeyed God. However, the other people on the earth were bad; they chose to disobey God. The earth had so many bad people that God got very angry. He told Noah that all the bad people would be destroyed by a big flood. What did God tell Noah to do? He said, Build a boat, for I will not destroy you and your family. Noah obeyed God! Later, God promised that He would never use a flood to get rid of all living things again. God gave us the rainbow as a sign to remind us He keeps His promises. Whenever you see a rainbow, remember that God keeps His promises (Summarized from Genesis 8 & 9). Here are some of God s promises I am claiming when I pray for you:

15 God Hears and Will Answer Your Prayers Call to me and I will answer you. Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV) Jeremiah 33:3 promises that God will answer every prayer. God is listening and willing to answer your prayers. With your ears, you may not hear God s reply. Sometimes, God gives an answer that you don t want to hear. Do what the Bible teaches: pray at all times. Pray every day morning, noon, and night. God loves to hear your voice. This is my prayer for you today:

16 Lord, help to pray often during the day. Color the prayers that you like below. A few are left blank for you to add your prayers. Lord, please help Thank You Jesus Christ for loving me. 18 God Speaks to You Through His Word For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through... the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4 (NIV) Can you think of all the ways you can talk to someone? Well, you could write a letter, send an through the computer, send a text message, and even hire a messenger bird. However, do you know how God talks to you? According to Romans 15:4, God speaks to you through the Scriptures. Scriptures is a fancy word for the Bible. God uses the words written in the Bible to teach you the things He wants you to know. Next time you have a question, ask me and I will see if we can find the answer in the Bible together. These are some facts that I want you to remember from the Bible.

21 God has a Plan for Your Life For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) Do you know that when God placed you in this family, it was a part of His plan for your life? The Bible tells us, that God has a special plan for every one of us. You can find out what God s plan is for you by reading the Bible and talking to God (praying). As you grow, continue to read the Bible and pray, you can be sure that God will show you His plan for your life. I am not 100% sure of the plans God has for your life but I promise to pray about your future. Here is one of my prayers:

25 God is Powerful I pray that you may know His incomparably great power for us who believe Ephesians 1:18-19(NIV) Do you that know God is very strong? He is stronger than anything or anyone else. Since God is so strong, you can be sure He has the strength to guide and protect you forever. When you are afraid, remember that since God is powerful enough to create the universe and everything in it, He is powerful enough to protect you and take care of you. Because God is powerful, I know that He will take care of you in the following ways:

28 God is in Control And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 (NIV) Have you ever had a really bad day? Even when you have a bad day, God promises that He is working things out for your good. There is a secret to this promise. Before you can claim this promise, you have to love God. One of the ways God knows you love Him is by serving Him and helping others. Bad days are never fun, but don t worry. Even bad days are working for your good. Even when you have a bad day, know that I am praying for you. I know that God can use your bad days to help you grow.

31 Jesus Died for Your Sins But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (NIV) Do you know that love is an action word? The Bible tells us that love is not something you just say; it is something you also do. God did something really amazing to show His love for you. Romans 5:8 tells you that God loves you so much that He sent Jesus to die for your sins (the things you do that are wrong). It is easy to tell someone you love them, but you really show them that you love them by doing something for them. Jesus did just that when He came all the way from heaven and died on a cross to show you how much He loves you. Always remember that Jesus loves you and so do I. These are some of the things I do to show you that I love you:

34 God s Angels Are Watching Over You The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them. Psalm 34:7 (NIV) Long ago there was a man named Daniel. Daniel loved God more than anything, and he prayed to God often (morning, noon and night). One day an evil king made a law that said people could not pray to God any more. But Daniel would not stop praying. Daniel still prayed morning, noon and night. So the king put Daniel into a den with hungry lions. Guess what happened next. God placed angels around Daniel to protect Daniel from the lions (Summarized from Daniel 6). God also sends His angels to watch over you. As the Lord s angels watch over you morning, noon and night, I am praying that they will help you in the following ways:

37 Jesus is Coming Again Jesus will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven. Acts 1:11 (NIV) Do you know the best news ever told to man? Jesus is coming back again. Jesus came to earth to show us how much God loves us. When He was done, He rose up though a cloud into heaven. As everyone watched, two angels appeared. The angels told everyone that Jesus would come again. Do you know why Jesus is coming again? He is coming to take all who believe in Him to heaven. Now that is something to smile about. Until we get to heaven, I will pray for you morning, noon and night. This is one of my prayers for you:
