2 Ainsworth of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Russell & Terri Thayer Serving at Ainsworth since July 2013 Dr. Graves, Rev. Dan Cole, Delegates and friends to this Assembly, I bring you greetings from the Ainsworth where God is on the move and the devil is on the run! It has been a great year for our church and I want to give the good people at Ainsworth a great big thumbs up for all their hard work and labor of love in the Lord. Our services have been Spirit-Filled and people are finding a deeper walk with the Lord. There s hardly a service that we don t find our altars filled with people praying for victory in many areas of their lives. We continue to see new families come into the church and that is largely due to discipleship training where people are building relationships in the work place and with their neighbors. The attendance report really doesn t reflect what God has been doing in the last 6 months. We are averaging around 100 in Sunday morning attendance, Praise God! I sat down with the board last year and we set some goals for our church to reach. And let me tell you we have almost reached every goal and exceeded others. Some of our goals were: 1. Increase in attendance (Worship and Sunday School) 2. Leadership Training Classes 3. Building Improvement (Phase #1 is completed) 4. The Connection (New and Creative ways of reaching the community) 5. Outside the Box (Challenging the church to get creative in reaching the lost) 6. Youth Pastor (We are in the planning stages) I look forward to working with the board and leadership of the church this New Year as we plan together and dream big! I want to thank God for sending Terri and I to Ainsworth and the Nebraska District. I also want to express deep appreciation to Dan and Roxanna Cole, they are very special people and have been there for us, as Terri went through her surgeries. Thanks for the prayers and the visits from some of our team on this District. I want to thank God for sending Terri into my life and standing by me in 20 plus years of ministry, love you babe! We love and appreciate all of you and may the Lord continue to bless the Nebraska District! Respectfully Submitted, Rev. Russell Thayer Russell & Terri Thayer 1045 E 3 rd Street, Ainsworth, NE russellthayer@yahoo.com 53

4 Arnold of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Dynette & Jeff Oberg Serving at Arnold since July 2002 Greeting Dr. David Graves, Dr. Dan Cole and the Nebraska District Assembly, It is once again a great privilege to give my 13 th report for the Arnold of the Nazarene. It is a great honor to call this church my home. For 95yrs this church has been a beacon of Holiness in this small Nebraska town. A lot has changed in those 95 years but we are still committed to spreading the message that frees people from the bonds of sin and opens their eyes to the call to holiness. The past year was filled with a bustle of activities. The summer was busy with VBS, Camps and Community gatherings. As fall approached and the school schedule brought some structure to our lives we continued on with our Children s ministries. This year s Good News program was swarming with children on Wednesday and our Quizzing program on Sunday evening brought 9 children each week. Our Quizzing program was a tremendous success and I already have kids asking me what they get to study next year. This fall was also highlighted by a music concert given by Terry Campbell. We enjoyed him so much we had him come back for a Christmas concert that we were able to invite many of our friends to join us for. During the winter months we also hosted an MNU impact team that came and shared comedy with us. They were wonderful and I would recommend them to anyone. We had one teen quiz this year, she now knows more about the book of Acts than most us. I also had the great privilege of baptizing two children during our Easter service this spring. This truly is what we are all about I wish the opportunity came more often. We all know people who seem to have always been in our church and always will be. Well we had two ladies like that; Lois Sheilds (103) and Miriam Brower (108). Both ladies were as sweet as honey and filled with love and encouragement. Their testimonies told of the faithfulness of God and encouraged each one of us to keep seeking Jesus. Well, this year God called each one of them home. While there is no doubt in our minds that they are sitting at the feet of Jesus we miss them deeply. Both those ladies taught me a great deal and I draw upon their memory often to encourage myself. While I wish I could report; numbers are up and all budgets are paid I am afraid I simply cannot. I can report that we have not stopped ministering to our community, discipling one another, and doing everything in our power to further the message of Holiness in Arnold and all around the world. 6 Beatrice of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Rob & Janece Wheeler Serving at Beatrice since July 2006 Dr. Graves, District Superintendent Dan Cole and followers of Christ. This marks my 9th assembly as pastor of Beatrice of the Nazarene, serving here 91/2 years. It has been a privilege to serve God and the church. My wife Janece and I answered the call knowing that it could be one of the toughest assignments of our life. Knowing this is God's call for us, we have remained faithful and steadfast. We are reminded that God builds the church, "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain" Psalm 127:1a. God says to "seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you" Matt. 6:33. Praise the Lord, we have been able to pay our budgets in full 8 of the 9 years we have been in Beatrice. I had the privilege of seeing some come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and baptizing three. We have started a weekly time of prayer at the altar for needs within our church body and their families as well as our community. We also have a small group meeting on Wednesday evenings. We have a monthly carry in dinner for the birthdays and anniversaries as well as a family movie night where we show Christian themed movies. They are both great times of food and fellowship and a great opportunity for outreach. 8 Chadron New Covenant of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Bruce & Laura Scherbarth Serving at Chadron New Covenant since June 2006 Dr. David W. Graves, Superintendent Dan Cole, Members and Friends of this Assembly: This past year has been more discouraging than the last if that is possible. Oh, it has had a few bright spots, but also a lot of dreary days. With all the bad news we are hearing in these last days I'm sure you don't want to hear more so I'll try to focus on the good. We just got home form a VBS program and supper tonight in Hay Springs. Our son James, who will be in 5th grade, attended. Vacation Bible School was hosted by the United Methodist and other churches involved were Lutheran, Catholic, Assembly of God, Nazarene and possibly others. With so few in attendance we don't have the time, resources, or energy to put on a quality VBS so we join with the area churches. Even the local lumber company donated hex nuts for crafts. The theme was G-force, God's love in Action. Sometimes I wonder why our church even exists. Are we helping anyone? If our church closed would anyone notice or care? Well, after we got home from the VBS, the answering machine was beeping and we learned after Laura returned the call that a woman was escaping from an abusive situation and needed help with gas, clothing, etc. Just when I was thinking our church doesn't do much to help people, the opportunity to help comes along. She is seeking God's help through it all and we hope to be able to help her with some of her needs. Our church, which is really God's church, also helps sponsor several children so they can go to school, etc. Perhaps, you help someone in this way also. It is good to realize we are helping to make a difference in the lives of people whether it be near or far. And how you help people by praying for them. I try to remind myself, and others that we are not to whine but shine. Seek to make it your purpose in life to let the light and love of Jesus shine through you each day. Matthew 5:16 Pastor Jeff Schreve had a devotion called, The Power of Yet. For example you may say, I don't have my report done, Jesus hasn't come back, I haven't led anyone to Christ, and on and on. If you add the word, "yet", to these statements and others it will help lift you out of despair and give you hope for the future. There are people you and I haven't reached yet with God's love and good news. What are we going to do about it? With God's help, power, and guidance, let's make a difference while we still have time. Thanks for your prayers. Pastor, Bruce Scherbarth Bruce & Laura Scherbarth th Lane, Hay Springs, NE scher5@gpcom.net 59

10 61 Columbus of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Raul & Abigael Gascon Serving at Columbus since June 2002 Dr. Graves, Rev. Cole, Members and Friends of the Nebraska District Family: It is my privilege and honor to yet again submit my pastoral report for the Columbus Hispanic of the Nazarene, and I do so humbly with joy and gratitude because it is not my work, but the Lord s. He is always faithful to me and my family, and keeps his promises throughout my days such as in Isaiah 41:10, Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Every June during district assembly is a special time in my spiritual walk with the Lord. It is a time of renewing, refreshing and confirmation to my soul from the Lord. We bask in his glorious presence alongside my Nazarene brothers in Christ. Sometimes I want it to last forever, but it is just enough to renew our strength to continue the Lord s work in Columbus and Omaha. We continue to worship on Sundays, carry out Sunday school, have communion and prayer. On Saturdays, I also make a prison visit almost weekly to the Omaha Correctional Center. We are relying on and needing the Lord to be our judge in a difficult situation for one of our own brother s future. This will also determine how much longer my ministry must continue in this place. Not that this is a burden because I do it with joy, and it is my duty as a pastor. But the travel time does take time from other responsibilities. If you are reading, please help us pray in our plea to the Lord for June 29 th. On Sunday afternoons, I also travel to Omaha Living Faith, where we have a group that gathers for worship and Sunday school. This year, the Lord reminded us of what His mission is for us here in our community. In Matthew 25:40 we read... Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. The Holy Spirit led us to a funeral home one day as we thought we simply needed to give our condolences to a fellow coworker. He had much more in His great plan. The family coming from the furthest distance (Puerto Rico and Florida) needed divine intervention; they needed a pastor of their own in this place who spoke their language. The Holy Spirit once again led me to them. Our church became their place of comfort as we ministered and obeyed as we witnessed the Lord beginning His healing. We continue to provide guidance to the local family through the Lord s Word, as we see the Lord s hand in it all. I am humbled that the Lord chose us to do His work. We also experienced another intervention in the month of September with families from California visiting the area for a delicate matter. It is my desire to fulfill God s purpose and will for our lives. If our church home is meant to be a lighthouse in the midst of a foggy island, then I will do it with honor and joy because I serve a God who makes no mistakes. I am ready for what the Lord has planned for us this coming year. He has the greatest plans and I want to be a part of them. 12 Connecting Pointe of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report June Serving at Connecting Pointe since June 2013 Dr. Graves, Rev. Cole, District Assembly Delegates, and friends; It is with great honor that I submit to you my third report as the pastor of Connecting Pointe of the Nazarene. Restructure has been the name of the game in Lincoln over the last 12 months. Approaching the future we knew as church leadership, that decisions made this year would impact the church for years ahead and it was our commitment to decide where Connecting Pointe Nazarene currently stood and where God was calling us to be in the future. In early August, I began the process of leading the church through a complete refocus process. We asked hard questions, evaluated ministries, identified our targets, and established our goals getting the church to a place where it could focus on its strengths while still taking care of the flock and reaching the local community. There were three major shifts that happened this past year. First was our shift from a Sunday school model to a Connect Group model. Second was our shift (or refocus) to being missional for greater community impact. We have accomplished this through a ministry called GeneroCity. Last was our shift from a children s ministry model to a family ministry model. With families inside a two-mile radius from the church as one of our targets, our E2 family service will help to solidify that shift and reach a demographic that has doesn t have church as a family priority. We are excited about our Celebrate Recovery ministry starting in August as well as our E2 Family service beginning that same month. In addition to those ministries, we expect God to do great things through a stewardship campaign to help fund our mission. Also this year, we will begin the discussion about Connecting Pointe Nazarene launching a new satellite campus. The future is bright for Connecting Pointe! Partner with us in prayer as we stay committed to the mission, live the gospel, and reach out to the hurting souls of Lincoln. Respectfully Submitted; Pastor Adam Lewis Lead Pastor Connecting Pointe of the Nazarene Adam & Cindy Lewis 6950 South St., Lincoln, NE alewis@connectingpoint.com 63

14 Cozad of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Rodney & Amy Mohler Serving at Cozad since June 2010 Dr. David Graves, Rev. Dan Cole, Members and Friends of the Assembly: It is an honor to share with you my fifth annual report as pastor at Cozad of the Nazarene. Throughout the past year we continued to struggle financially. We have made every effort to meet our financial obligations, but have fallen short. This year we were unable again to pay our budget in full and we struggle with meeting our everyday financial needs. It is my prayer that this next year we be able to pay all of our budget in full. This will require sacrifice and obedience on all our parts. This year has also been rewarding. By the leading of the Holy Spirit two couples joined together in holy matrimony. We celebrate with them, as we see God continually working through their lives and their marriages. Eight individuals, by confession of faith, became members at Cozad First of the Nazarene. Early this year we looked at and voted to shut down our children s Wednesday night ministry, but God would not have it. He provided a leader, Pastor Susan Sukraw and God also provided servants who were obedient and willing to pick up children in their neighborhoods. We currently have the following ministries within our local church Sunday school, Sunday morning worship, Sunday night Bible study, Tuesday night Christian recovery group, Wednesday night Bible study for the adults and teens and children s ministries. Those who come to these ministries with the desire to engage God more deeply find themselves encountering God and growing spiritually. In these ministries that our local church does you will find friendship, love, and accountability. This year through the various ministries we have seen many of our people come to a deeper walk with Christ. For those who go to the Christian recovery group on Tuesday nights we have had the honor and privilege of watching God work in the hearts of those who struggle with the hurts, hangups, habits, circumstances and addictions. In closing, what one generation does not experience the next generation won't believe. It is our job, as God's holy church and as God's holy people, to spread the good news and to serve Him in any way that He requires. If we don't show this next generation who God is then how will they believe Romans 10:14 & 15 says, How then will they call upon him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things! We have the responsibility to share God with the next generation so that they in turn will share God with their next-generation. We will continue to praise Him in times of celebration and in times of need. To give God all the glory for everything that He has accomplished through His son according to His will. I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. 16 Crows Nest of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Tim & Anne Bremer Serving at Crows Nest since December 2013 Dr. Graves, Rev. Cole, Members and Friends of the Assembly: Wow, what a challenging year it has been!. Crows Nest has had its ups and downs from a worldly perspective. But we have stayed the course that God has put us on. We currently average between worshippers. Our numbers haven t grown as most of us would want. But, God has brought to us new individuals and moved others on as life circumstances changed. We have had two baptisms during the year. We have had some look into the Nazarene Theology and felt that they needed to move on. We are thankful that they are still in a walk with Christ in another denomination. We want to be Kingdom builders not just builders. Our methods may be a little unique but we are actually returning to the Nazarene roots of ministering to the discarded of our community. We have continued to go out into our community to serve, bringing the love of Christ to our friends, neighbors and strangers just as Jesus Himself did. We have partnered with 2 local organizations, Mission Middle School and Essential Pregnancy Services. In addition, we are starting a relationship with another organization, Exceptional Christian Caring Homes, a community based Service Provider, which provides services to individuals with special needs and their families from Sarpy and Douglas. Lastly, we have been blessed as a Congregation to have talented and committed Pastors. Two Pastors, Jamie Spurlock and Joe Kumor, have completed the ordination process. Pastor Anne Bremer has completed several Planting Training courses and is in the process of working with Pastor Ray Cluff on getting more Planting training courses scheduled for the district. 18 Falls City of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Stephen & Cheryl Floyd Serving at Falls City since October 2009 General Superintendent Dr. Graves, District Superintendent Dan Cole, Brothers and Sisters of Nebraska. This is my 33 rd annual report for the of the Nazarene and my 6 th report for Falls City. The prayer: Give us this day our daily bread, took on a whole new literal meaning for our church this year. We went through one financial crisis after another, but God brought us through each one. My wife and I have been on a new adventure of trusting God for Manna for each day (It is always enough; no surplus). We prayed for workers. The Lord sent us Pastor Dan and his wife, Jane. They had been beat up by a previous church. A few years before, Dan and I had sensed a kindred spirit in each other. Dan felt that our church would be a safe, nurturing place for him and his wife to find healing. He put his carpenter skills to use; and I helped him build new handrails for the two sets of steps in front of our church, to replace the rusty, metal ones that our insurance company was concerned about. His wife, Jane helped by teaching a Sunday School class. Dad had done extensive study in Jewish culture, especially their festivals. Sunday nights he enriched our Bible knowledge, by doing a series of lessons on the festivals that God gave Moses instructions for and showed how they were a foretelling of Jesus, the Messiah. In turn our people loved on them and we taught them through the scriptures God s deeper work of grace of Entire Sanctification. When they first came, they were so deeply hurt that they weren t sure if they wanted to pastor again, but while they were with us they experienced God s deep healing. We had to let them go as the Lord called them into the pastorate again at a little Baptist church in the country. I suspect if he stays there long, that church will only be Baptist in name. Shortly after Dan and I built the handrails, I sprained both ankles and put a spiral fracture in my fibula (that takes real talent). I was confined to a wheelchair for six weeks (it felt like six years), and three weeks with a walking boot. I learned greater empathy for those who are wheel chair bound. My wife is working part-time a bank in Hiawatha. I have started a new adventure with Pioneer Foster Grand parenting program. I work at our local elementary school three days a week. Two hundred and twenty students now call me Grandpa Steve, I am having a blast. Most important, some of our church leaders have started reading the Bible through. The results are they have been asking me about fasting and praying like the people in the Bible, because God is putting this burden in their heart. Along with this is a growing compassion for the lost around them. Our mission is growing in their hearts. Respectfully Submitted, Stephen C. 20 Dr. Graves, Pastor Cole and members of the Assembly, 71 Farnam of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Cliff & Julie Transmeier Serving at Farnam since July 2006 My heart is overflowing with appreciation for the Lord that He has allowed me to be the Pastor of the Farnam of the Nazarene this past year. I am especially thankful for my wonderful wife, Julie. I am also thankful for the prayers of you, my church family. This past year, Jesus revealed himself in our worship services. There are many things for us to thank the Lord for this past year but my favorite is the frequent visitation of His Spirit in our services and our fellowship times. Jesus also revealed himself as we prayed. There have been many answers to prayer for healing. When the Lord visited us 2 years ago, There were three things for us to do. The first was to start the Cowboy and we were pleased to join them for their first anniversary service. I was humbled to see all that the Lord and the Boller family had accomplished. The second was to send a group to Ambato Ecuador. This trip was a highlight of my life as Julie and I joined Jerry and Karen Lehman at the worksite and in the worship services in that new work. The Lord watched over us as very few in our group had been sick or injured. Normally half of the short-term missionaries become sick. He also kept us safe from falling walls, giant rats, severe sunburn and questionable characters that roamed the streets. We made new friends and renewed old friendships. The Lord visited powerfully in the services and rewarded the outreach projects 100 people committed or recommitted their lives to Him! This year we look forward to seeing how God will help us with the third assignment He gave us. The work on our building to make it more appealing to visitors has begun. I encourage you all to get involved with further upgrades to the building. The goal of this assignment is not just to make this building ours but to work side by side with one another in an activity dedicated to the Lord. We should continue to look for ways to minister to our community. Last year, we assisted the victims of vandalism, we helped some with utility bills and we gave out many more Christmas baskets and Meat gift certificates to people in Farnam and Eustis. 24 Grand Island First of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Dave & Joan Coleman Serving at Grand since August 2013 Dr. David W. Graves, Rev. Dan Cole, Members and friends of this Assembly, members and friends of Grand Island 1 st, 1 Peter 5:1-4. To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ's sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed. Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, watch over them- not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. Over the years I have discovered that being a shepherd of the flock is not an easy task. I have also discovered that on my own strength I cannot do it, nor do I want to. However challenging and costly it may be, there really is nothing I would rather do. In grand island first church we have had many challenging things happen in this past church year. But through all of it I have seen Gods hand move among the church. We have experienced loss, but have also experienced gain. For various reasons some have chosen to leave us. But God has brought in some new people who are hungry and thirsty for righteousness and are growing in their spiritual lives. We have taken in 2 new members this year and some others are in the process of moving in that direction. I had the privilege to dedicate our new grand daughter to the Lord in a committal service. The finances continue to be tight, but as of this writing most everything is paid. We have not been able to pay our budgets in full but do have them mostly paid. We trust that next year will be even better as we strive to fulfill that obligation. God continues to be faithful to us as we continue to be faithful to Him. We are on a new journey. One that will take us where we have never gone before. One that is scary, but full of hope and promise. One that will stretch us and continue to challenge us as we press on towards the goal of faithfully fulfilling the great commission in Grand island Nebraska. Just like when Joshua got ready to lead the people across the river into the promised land we say Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the lord will do great things among you. Judges 3:5. 28 Heritage Hill of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Ray & Charlene Cluff Serving Heritage Hill since December 2001 Dr. David W. Graves, Rev. Dan Cole, members and friends of the Nebraska District of the Nazarene, The theme of this past year is transition. As a church we are transitioning into a disciple-making machine. We only have one job to do. MAKE DISCIPLES. At Heritage Hill we are focused on making disciples. The strategy is simple. Everyone make one. Our success is measured only in making new disciples who make new disciples. That is the DNA we want to reproduce. And speaking of reproducing; we believe in church planting! In November of 2013 we launched Crows Nest of the Nazarene in Bellevue, Ne with three families from HHC. Pastors Tim & Anne Bremer, Jamie Spurlock, and Joe Kumor are providing leadership for Crows Nest. In August 2014 we will launch 2 nd Chance of the Nazarene on Monday nights at HHC. There are two statements Jesus made to his disciples that drive us. 1) I will build my church. 2) Go and make disciples. The first requires faith, the second requires obedience. 32 Kimball of the Nazarene Interim Pastor s Annual Report Leonard & Linda Suhr Serving at Kimball since February 2014 Dr. Graves, Rev. Cole, Rev. Potts, members and friends of the District Assembly: This is my 2nd report for Kimball. It is a joy to serve the great people Kimball. The people love the Lord and serve Him faithfully. God is blessing us in Kimball. We have seen conversions this past year. Our church has been faithful to their call to go out into their world with the good news. We have been involved in the community events in Kimball and have made it known that there is a of the Nazarene in the city of Kimball. We entered a float in their annual parade and we had a table at the Fall Festival where we had opportunity to pass out information about our church. We have been out in the community meeting people. We had two people complete the Basic Bible Studies for New and Growing Christians. We had Janelle Hoffman, a ventriloquist, come and do a backyard service. We may not know what the future holds for us in Kimball, but we have claimed this verse as our verse for the year, Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9. We at Kimball will continue to be obedient to the Lord and be faithful followers of Christ. Respectfully submitted, Leonard Suhr- interim pastor Leonard & Linda Suhr P.O. 34 Lakeside Community of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report John & Angie Whitsett Serving at Hastings since September 2011 Dear Rev. Cole, Dr. Graves, & Nebraska Nazarenes This is my fourth report on behalf of Lakeside Community in Hastings. As I review this past year, a number of highlights that emerge from the landscape: 1. A spiritual renewal emphasis with Dan Bohi on the weekend before Memorial Day Even though it was a less-than-optimal time in terms of the calendar, God came and made his presence known in a remarkable way. A number of folks testified to a variety of significant breakthroughs. 2. The expansion of our staff with the addition of a Youth & College Pastor. Galen and Justean Ryman arrived in July of last year, and have been a wonderful addition to the life of Lakeside Galen assuming responsibility for our Youth Ministry, and Justean very much a teammate in that role as well as functioning as our Office Manager since September. 3. A visit from a consultant team from Living Stones Associates this past October was incredibly beneficial. Their objective eyes gave us some much-needed guidance on structural and ministry tweaks we can make that will empower an atmosphere conducive to growth. They also helped us think through a facility master plan, and a task force is currently working on converting their recommendations into a systematic, phased-in approach that will maximize ministry in an economically responsible fashion. They also encouraged us to develop a team that can identify sources of division and facilitate redemptive conversations that will help us create the high-trust church culture necessary for community impact. 4. For the fourth consecutive year, we utilized the Advent season as a Compassionate Ministries emphasis with over $13,000 given to a number of initiatives outside of Lakeside. A particular joy was our ability to assist with the district s Jesus Film project as well as the vehicle for Pastor Lenilde & Consuela Huaman of Ambato, Ecuador that was adopted by our district Work & Witness team this past fall. 5. Our Lenten emphasis featured our first ever Ash Wednesday service, which was very well received, as well as some special ingredients during Holy Week the choir s presentation of Calvary s Cry! on Palm Sunday weekend, a modified Seder observance on Maundy Thursday, a Tenebrae service on the evening of Good Friday, and two identical joy-filled resurrection celebrations on Easter Sunday morning. The emphasis culminated with the baptism of six individuals on the Sunday after Easter. Lakeside is truly poised to impact this community and is continuing to move in a positive direction. It is a privilege to not only be a part of a relationally healthy staff team made up of competent, servant-hearted folks, but also a church family that gives you the permission to pursue the dreams God places upon your heart. Fully Devoted! Pastor John Whitsett John & Angie Whitsett 1605 W. 12th St., Hastings, NE johnwhitsett58@gmail.com 85

36 Lone Star Cowboy of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Greg & Kendi Boller Serving at Lone Star Cowboy since August 2013 Dr. Graves, Rev. Dan Cole, and Delegates to District Assembly, It is an honor and privilege to bring my second pastors report to you from Lone Star Cowboy in Farnam, Nebraska. We believe that God continues to have great plans for Lone Star Cowboy. Our Mission at Lone Star is to ride the pastures that God has given us, searching and gathering the lost, lonely and hurting and bringing them the good news of Jesus Christ. This being said, it is our desire to help plant other Cowboy es in Nebraska. There are many new things that took place at Lone Star this past year. We built our roping arena in July and began having different outreach events. God allowed that to happen. In August we celebrated our first anniversary as a church with a barbeque, auction, and activities in the arena. The proceeds from the auction were used to help build the new addition on the barn and a bathroom. God allowed that to happen. There are also more new faces at Lone Star, some young and some old. They are looking for a place to belong, a place to meet with the Lord and a place that is safe. God allowed that to happen. We started a men s Bible study that met at 5:30am on Wednesday mornings and then another Bible study at 7pm. and a children s Bible study at the same time. God allowed that to happen. As I thought about how God has been at work at Lone Star, this verse came to mind; Matthew 16 18b; I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Two years ago I never would have imagined all the changes that God would allow in our lives, but all of it has happened because God is building His church. He is speaking into the lives of young and old alike and lives are being changed. May He find us Faithful when He returns, Respectfully submitted Pastor Greg Boller Greg & Kendi Boller Rd 408, Farnam, NE spearlazyv@dishmail.net 87

40 91 New Beginnings of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Darryl & Amy Potts Serving at Scottsbluff since September 2006 Dr. Graves, Rev. Cole, and Delegates to the Nebraska District Assembly: What a privilege it is to give my ninth annual pastor s report to the Nebraska District Assembly. This past church year has been filled with evidence of the Holy Spirit at work in Scottsbluff, NE. I am honored to have the opportunity to work side by side with a group of amazing people who desire to advance the kingdom of God. With much prayer and determination the New Beginnings leadership team and I have begun the process of seeking God s will for the future. This, quite possibly, could include the following: Restructuring our Children s education programing to accommodate current growth. Strategically developing a plan to reach the parents of the children who attend. Initiate a discipleship program for new and newer believers. Give the church facility and property a makeover. The potential of adding educational area to the existing building. We do not want to do anything at New Beginnings that does not require much prayer. We believe the Lord has big plans and we have only just begun to tap into them. New Beginnings is at the point where risks seem wise and even desirable as we push forward with the purpose, mission, and Gospel of Jesus Christ. We continue to teach that being a Christian demands a changed life. As the apostle Paul wrote, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come (2 Corinthians 5:17). The people of New Beginnings continue to take the meaning of this verse more seriously each and every day and are seeing the need to mature in their relationship with Jesus. They re coming to the understanding that the status quo isn t good enough. New Beginnings really are important to us, and this year has been one of focus on new beginnings in the lives of our children. It all started with one faithful grandma who invited the neighborhood kids to church, offered them a ride, and filled her car every Wednesday night with a bunch of rowdy kids eager to come to church. Now those kids and their friends are a regular part of our Wednesday Kidz Club and Sunday school classes. The children performed a musical program for Easter, bringing in all of their unchurched families for an amazing service, which finished with a celebration of baptism for 8 of the children and 3 teens. Now God has opened the doors for us to reach a whole neighborhood for the kingdom of God, and people are catching the excitement of ministering to these children and families with the love of Christ. I couldn t ask for a better church to serve! There is a growing willingness, on the part of those who attend New Beginnings, to give more and more of their time, talents, and treasures. There is a heightened sense that we have one chance, one lifetime, to make a difference in our places of influence and advance the kingdom of God. It s rewarding to see God s people embrace the attitude that we will do whatever it takes to grow the kingdom of God. Respectfully Submitted, Darryl A. Potts Darryl & Amy Potts 2395 Settler Drive, Gering, NE darrylapotts@gmail.com

44 Omaha Living Faith of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Kenneth & Julie Ring Serving at Omaha Living Faith since February 2004 Dr. Graves, Rev. Cole, and members of the Nebraska District Assembly, We had another great year of praising Jesus for what He has done in our lives, for what He is doing at the present time, and for what He has promised to continue to do in providing all our needs. Our concentration this year has been on bringing each one of us to a closer walk with the Lord, establishing an intimacy in our relationship with Jesus. There is new excitement in Living Faith as the Holy Spirit fills believers. Entire sanctification is preached at this church because without holiness no one will see the Lord. Our folks are more excited this year than they have been in the past. I see evidence of sharing our faith throughout the church. We are continuing the concentration of increasing our walk with Jesus for the coming year. More people are bringing their whole tithe to the storehouse and they are seeing God's blessing on their lives for doing so. Budgets were paid in full as in all of the last 12 years. We are excited to be a part of the Nebraska District. God took four of our members home this year. Each of these folks are now enjoying the Lord forever and ever. Praise God for his love. We look forward to the ensuing year with great anticipation that God will do great things and bigger things that we can ask for or imagine. We are asking Him to put twenty new people into our church this year who need to know Him. 46 Omaha Southwest of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report H. Mark & Paula Else Serving at Omaha Southwest since September 2011 Dr. Graves, Rev. Cole, distinguished guests, members and friends of this 103 3d 97 District Assembly; During the past few months I have been reminded of a scripture passage that I ve read many times previously, and I m sure I ve probably preached from as well. Numerous verses within Psalm 37 are rich with spiritual truths that I ve read over and over, and yet every time I read them again it seems they speak to my soul with new freshness. In recent weeks, the fourth verse in particular has stayed with me: Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart s desires. (Psa. 37:4 NLT) I ve been reminding myself that the desires of my heart will never be satisfied until the prime desire of my heart is to take delight in the Lord to remain in love with Him. Oh, the joy! Today it s a privilege for me to submit to you my 4 th report for the Omaha Southwest church. I love Omaha. It s a great place to live and it s a joy to pastor of the fine people of this congregation. Last September, I had 4 persons who requested to be baptized as a sign and symbol of their Christian faith. It was a joyful day for our congregation as we met at an outdoor swimming pool park. 3 were young persons, but one was a military veteran who I had recently led to the Lord in his home. He invited his Catholic mother to come observe his baptism. What a glorious celebration we had. Even his Catholic mother seemed happy for her son s new spiritual joy. At Christmastime, my wife and I were in Virginia with our son and his wife for the birth of our 4 th grandchild. As I sat in the labor room with my daughter-in-law, I received a phone call from my daughter, Becky, in Omaha telling me we would become grandparents of twins in mid- August. How delighted we all were. However, in February Becky and husband, Lee, learned that their twins were suffering from high risk pregnancy complications that required immediate medical attention at the Children s Hospital Colorado from some of the nation s leading specialists in Fetal Cardiology and Fetal Maternal Medicine. Our church in Omaha graciously sent Paula and I to Denver for a few days (with enough gift cash in our pocket to pay for our expenses) while our daughter had numerous tests, followed by laser surgery that probably saved the babies lives. Yet, the high-risk nature of the pregnancy continued, and although many people across our district and even across the USA were praying, and although Becky had excellent high-risk medical care in Omaha, she had to be hospitalized in May due to ongoing complications. After two weeks of hospital bed rest, on one particular day her doctors agreed it was necessary for the health of the babies that they be born. Today, as I write this report, I am pleased to say that although they are 2½ months premature and will be in NICU for many more weeks, the Lord has graciously protected them and given them physical strength beyond what doctors and nurses expected for their age and size. To God be all the glory. I m delighting (Psalm 37:4), H. Mark Else H. Mark & Paula Else Blackwell Dr., Omaha, NE lightshiner57@gmail.com

48 Parkview Community of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Jack & Karen Atteberry Serving at Parkview Community since January 2005 Dr. David Graves, Dr. Dan Cole & Members of the Assembly, This is my 10th Report for Parkview Community of the Nazarene. We as a are committed to reaching out to others with the Gospel. We sent 12 members of our to Ambato, Ecuador on an Extreme Nazarene Missions trip in October God is doing great things in our church and in individuals as a result of that trip. The scripture that came directly out of the trip was Ezekiel 36:25-27 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. And I will give you a new heart and will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony stubborn heart and give you a tender responsive heart. And I will put my spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. This is becoming our prayer. We have 4 Kidz Quizzers going on to Regionals this year. We have 2 young women pursuing Missions with Extreme Nazarene Missions. God is working in our lives and prayer is a priority. Prayers are being answered. This next year our church will continue to take advantage of the opportunities God is putting in front of us. Our finances are getting stronger and our goal is to expand our outreach in our community. I want to thank my wife, Karen, for her faithful support and the church family for their support and taking leadership roles in order to see our move forward in the days to come. God is Faithful!!! Respectfully submitted, Jack Atteberry, Pastor Jack & Karen Atteberry 6257 Thunderhead Rd., North Platte, NE jackatteberry@yahoo.com 99

50 Sidney of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Leonard & Linda Suhr Serving at Sidney since February 1999 Dr. Graves, Rev. Cole, Rev. Potts, members and friends of the District Assembly It is my privilege to give my 16th report for the Sidney church. It is wonderful to know that your sins are forgiven and your heart is sanctified to the Lord. This is my 44th year as pastor, and my love for the Lord and for my church is just is stronger today than the day I started out. I serve a great congregation and we have seen God work in many ways this past year. We know that it wasn t our best year statistically and we are planning to change that this coming year with God s help. One of the bright spots this year is in our giving. The people give sacrificially. God is meeting our needs. God is faithful to us. We are humbled by not seeing more In the area of growth, but we will not be become defeated. Rather we will continue to be faithful believers and seek the Lord for His plan for us in Sidney. Our goals for this year is that everyone has the desire to follow the Lord and be obedient to His will in individual lives and church collective. We will continue to be a praying church. We have seen new people attending and the future of our church looks good. We are challenged by what Jesus said to his disciples in John 4: 35, I tell you open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Our prayer is that God open our eyes to souls in Sidney that I may share Jesus with them. Respectfully Submitted Leonard Suhr Leonard & Linda Suhr P.O. 52 Superior of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Jeff & Tracy Kimberly Serving at Superior since February 2014 Dr. David W. Graves, Rev. Cole, Members and Friends of the District Assembly; It is my Privilege to bring to you my second annual report from Superior. Our mission this last year was to be Jesus to our community; by sharing the light of Jesus through loving and embracing those in our community. This summer started with a concert in the park on the 4 th of July, through this the Lighthouse Project Outreach was born. We were blessed to be able to do three work and witness projects locally. God has blessed this outreach; people in the community have really supported this mission. We have continued to receive requests for help, from different agencies in this area. Funding has been GOD ordained, the second and third projects were funded by the local retirement facility. I was praying for funding and received a phone call 15 minutes after I prayed, it was the Chaplin and she had heard what we were doing and wanted to be a part of the outreach. God answers prayers; we received monetary donations as well as volunteers. The Sunday we choose to serve instead of having service we had 17 volunteers; ( not all from our church), we built a ramp and painted the trim on the house of an elderly lady in our church. We also were able to partner with the local ministerial association and show the Billy Graham MY HOPE video at the local theater. God blessed this event and we had several accept Jesus as well as rededicate their life to him. We also were able to have a live nativity down town during Christmas, also well received by the community. We received one new member this year; he is now enrolled in the course of study and is heading into the ministry. God has really blessed Tracy and I through the love and support that we have received from our district, church and family through this past few months. God is good, God is faithful. Since December 18 th God has put us through a storm satin did not win. I am excited to see what God has in store for us next I am ready for the next chapter. It starts today, I am cancer free and God has placed an urgency in my heart for his church. God is calling us all to step out in faith and be his church, IT IS TIME TO GO! 54 York New Life of the Nazarene Pastor s Annual Report Jonathan & Beth Falkenstein Serving at York since June 2013 Dr. David W. Graves, Rev. Cole, Members and Friends of the District Assembly; In the last year, we have struggled through the pains of losing some beloved church members, with all the difficulties accompanied by that. This process of mourning and finding a new normal is not something that can be rushed and we have had to navigate through that process with grace and forgiveness. But it hasn t been all terrible much the opposite. In the fall, it seemed like we were about to promote our last two children up into our youth group and there would be no more children left. However, as a partial result of some personal evangelism on the part of one of our teens, supported by the rest of her family, we ve seen an influx of children participating in our Wednesday night children s ministry. On an average Wednesday evening, between 8 and 12 children are present to learn about God and have fun and most of these children s families do not presently attend any church. We are seeing this as a great open door God has given us to further the work of disciple making. Also in the fall, we began the process of imagining our future by discerning together what God has put us here for and where we are to go in the future. Several people met in a monthly Mission and Vision team and some progress was made. However, involvement in that team faded as members lost interest, so the meetings had to be ended before much fruit could be produced. The task before us now is to decide together if we are willing to do what is necessary to redirect our church and then, if so, to decide what we will do to make that happen. I remain hopeful that we will awaken to God s will and begin to make the hard steps toward his call. Pastor Jon Falkenstein, York New Life Jonathan & Beth Falkenstein 1315 E. Lawn Plaza Dr., York, NE jtfalkenstein@gmail.com 105
