T [h] urah {Torah} {and he assembled} Portions, Haftarah & the Good News ויקהל U yaqhal T [h] urah {Torah / Instruction} Haftarah Good-News Shamut [h] {Shemot/Exodus} 35:1-38:20 1 Malakiym {1 Kings} 7:40-50 Mark 6:14-29 Ex. 35:1 And Mushah {Mosheh/Moses} gathered all the congregation { Witness /ע ד ה} of the children of Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel} together /קהל) Assemble or Church in Greek ), and said unto them, These are the words which Yahuah have commanded, that you should do them. In this one verse I would like to explore a thought with you all. The Hebrew word for Congregation can morph into other words that support the root of the word. Example: ʿedah, ay-daw ; feminine of 5707 in the original sense of fixture; a stated ע ד ה assemblage (specifically, a concourse, or generally, a family or crowd): assembly, company, congregation, multitude, people, swarm. An a appointed meeting testimony: testimony, ʿedah, ay-daw ; feminine of 5707 in its techn. sense; ע ד ה witness. Something that testifies. outfit; ʿadiy, ad-ee ; from 5710 in the sense of trappings; finery; generally an ע ד י specifically, a headstall: x excellent, mouth, ornament. continue; ʿadah, aw-daw ; a primitive root; to advance, i.e. pass on or ע ד ה causatively, to remove; specifically, to bedeck (i.e. bring an ornament upon): adorn, deck (self), pass by, take away. The word for Congregation generally represents the meaning of a family. Its basic meaning is to come together. Another definition for this word is witness or testify. Both are spelled the same way. Here is where it gets interesting. The Hebrew word for Headstall/head covering is.עדי Ahdee/Ahdiy. The root of this word {without vowel pointing} is same for congregation/witness. Its root also means to pass on, to continue, be an ornament. When you put these thoughts together you can see that the headstall is used as a witness to all, that you belong to somebody. You are their extension, to continue, to be a witness, to the one you are married to. What was the purpose of choosing Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel}? Deut. 7:6 For you are an set-apart people unto Yahuah your Alahiym: Yahuah your Alahiym has chosen you to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. Deut. 7:7 Yahuah did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because you were more {most common/excellent/great} in number than any people; for you were the fewest {bring to nothing/less/ineffective} of all people: Deut. 7:8 But because Yahuah loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, has Yahuah brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Mitsraiym {Egypt}.
Deut. 7:9 Know therefore that Yahuah your Alahiym, he is Alahiym, the faithful Alahiym, which keeps covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; Deut. 7:10 And repays them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hates him, he will repay him to his face. Deut. 7:11 You shall therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command you this day, to do them. He chose Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel} because He loved them. It had nothing to do what they looked like. It had to do with a promise, and value that He saw in them. Not all had the heart that Yahuah desired in them. But the few that desired to learn of Him, keeping His commandments, laws, statues, judgments, that was what He saw we had the ability to do. Aramaic: Dan. 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. Dan. 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and esteem, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. ad-aw ; ʿadah (Aramaic), ע ד ה ʿadaʾ, ad-aw ; (Aramaic) or ע ד א corresponding to 5710: alter, depart, pass (away), remove, take (away). Last week went over the Shabbath in a Atbash pattern. I would like to carry one verse from last weeks portion, over into this t [h] urah portion Ex. 31:16 Wherefore the children of Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel} shall keep the shabbath, to observe the shabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. o ע שׂ ה ʿasah, aw-saw ; a primitive root; to do or make, accomplish, advance, appoint, apt, be at, become, bear, bestow, bring forth, have the charge of, execute(-ion), exercise, fashion, + feast, follow, fulfill, furnish, gather, journey, keep, labor, maintain Ex. 35:2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you a Setapart day, a Shabbath of rest to Yahuah: whosoever does work {מ ל אכ ה} therein shall be put to death. Ex. 35:21 And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought Yahuah s offering to the work {מ ל אכ ה} of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the setapart garments. o מ ל אכ ה mlaʾkah, mel-aw-kaw ; from the same as 4397; properly, serve; generally, employment (never servile) or work also property (as the result of labor): business, industrious, occupation work Guarding or keeping the shabbath, does not make the shabbath. What you do on the shabbath is making the shabbath.
What does set-apart mean? o v doq qodesh, ko -desh; from 6942; a sacred place or thing; rarely abstract, sanctity: consecrated (thing), set-apart (x day, portion, thing), saint, sanctuary. [Saint Dab. 33:2] o vad q qadash, kaw-dash ; a primitive root; to be (causatively, make, pronounce or observe as) clean (ceremonially or morally): appoint, bid, consecrate, dedicate, purify, sanctify(-ied one, self), x wholly. Ezek. 45:1 Moreover, when you shall divide by lot the land for inheritance, you shall offer an oblation unto Yahuah, an set-apart portion of the land: the length shall be the length of five and twenty thousand reeds, and the breadth shall be ten thousand. This shall be set-apart in all the borders thereof round about. Matt. 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen {elect}. Many are called to learn of Him. Few will be chosen. Just like Shabbath. Many may keep it, but do it right. Or few keep it, and make it apart of their life. KINDLE Ex. 35:3 You shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the Shabbath day. If we look at this command using the definitions translated throughout the Hebrew Tanak {Commonly called Old Testament} ; we see that the word for kindle is ba ar rao;db ba ar, baw-ar ; a primitive root; to kindle, i.e. consume (by fire or by eating); also (as denominative from 1198) to be(-come) brutish: be brutish, bring (put, take) away, burn, (cause to) eat (up), feed, heat, kindle, set ((on fire)), waste. o rao;ab ba ar, bah -ar; from 1197; properly, foot (as consumed); i.e. (concretely) stupid: {Unable to think clearly/bored/lacking common sense} brutish (person), foolish. Psa. 73:22 So foolish was I, & ignorant: I was a beast before you. nabal, naw-bawl ; from 5034; stupid; wicked נ ב ל (especially impious): fool(-ish, -ish man, -ish woman), vile person. Now, the root word here ba ar also translates as to burn, as in fire or wrath. But, it also means to be stupid or be barbaric. I want to add one more word to this equation. The Word Eat o 398. lakda akal, aw-kal ; a primitive root; to eat (literally or figuratively): x at all, burn up, consume, devour(-er, up), dine, eat(-er, up), feed (with), food, x freely, x in...wise(-deed, plenty), (lay) meat, x quite Ezek. 36:13 Thus says Yahuah Alahiym; Because they say unto you, You land devours up men, and have bereaved your nations;
Ezek. 36:14 Therefore you shall devour men no more, neither bereave your nations any more, says Yahuah Alahiym. Hos. 11:6 And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels. Fire Aleph-shin, spelling esh or ish also has a number of meanings and אש connotations, such as; fire, anger, wrath, strife and destruction vea: Means flame, fiery, hot. Fire means pictographically, strength that consumes. The pictures for the 2 Hebrew letters are an Ox head, and a picture of teeth. On the positive side, it can mean, the strength that refines voa osh, ohsh; (Aramaic) corresponding (by transposition and abbreviation) to 803; a foundation: foundation. Deut. 4:24 For Yahuah your Alahiym is a consuming fire, even a jealous Al. Why is this important? We {Male and Female} were made in His image. So let s prove this. vyia: When yad {Yod} is placed in the middle of this word we have Aiysh {Ish/Husband} this represents a man working in the fire. Getting himself refined getting himself together. He is no good or not fit for marriage if He does not have his self together. húîvia: When the Hey is placed at the end of the word for fire we have Ashah {Ishah/wife}. This shows what comes out of the fire. She is not ready for marriage if you cannot see her fruits. You need to see her righteousness. Is she keeping the instructions of the Most High? Has she prepared herself for marriage. When the Yad {Yod} in Husband and the Hey in the wife are put together we have Yah. A true picture of unity is being in the image and likeness of Yah. Proclaiming Yah in their lives as one. Yahuah refines us. When you remove the Yad {Yod} or the Hey, it breeds fire. And at some point it will consume you. Yahuah has to be the center, the anchor the root of you, or your relationship. The Scriptural phrase kindle a fire is used five times to speak of Alahiym specifically bringing destruction; as in Yermiyahu {Jeremiah} 17:21-23, 27; Jer. 17:21 Thus says Yahuah; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the Shabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Yarushalaiym {Jerusalem} ; Jer. 17:22 Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the Shabbath day, neither do you any work, but hallow you the Shabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.
Jer. 17:23 But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction. Jer. 17:27 But if you will not hearken unto me to set-apart the Shabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Yarushalaiym {Jerusalem} on the Shabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Yarushalaiym {Jerusalem}, and it shall not be quenched. Prov. 26:20 Where no wood is, there the fire goes out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife cease. Prov. 26:21 As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man {sow discord} to kindle strife byîr riyb, reeb; or bîr rib, reeb; from 7378; a contest (personal or legal): + adversary, cause, chiding, contend(-tion), controversy, multitude (from the margin), plead causes, strife, strive(-ing), suit. o byîr riyb, reeb; or b wr ruwb, roob; a primitive root; properly, to toss, i.e. grapple; mostly figuratively, to wrangle, i.e. hold a controversy; (by implication) to defend: adversary, chide, complain, contend, debate, x ever, x lay wait, plead, rebuke, strive, x thoroughly. Kindled in the Strong s concordance appears in Scripture 65 times. And, only two of are about kindling a real fire. The rest, save one, are about kindled anger or destruction in wrath. And that one other verse is found in Husha {Hoshea/Hosea} 11:8-9 Hos. 11:8 How shall I give you up, Aphraiym {Ephraim}? how shall I deliver you, Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel}? How shall I make you as Admah? how shall I set you as Zeboim? my heart is turned within me, my repenting are kindled together. Hos. 11:9 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Aphraiym {Ephraim} : for I am Al {El / Mighty one}, and not man; the Set-apart One in the midst of you: and I will not enter into the city. The term, kindling and the phrase kindling a fire most often applies to the welling up of emotions and letting those emotions out in a very public way. Look at the term in any of your dwellings, as it s important here also. The Hebrew phrase is M RkyEtáObVvOm läokv;b b chal mashab tha cham literally translates as in your dwelling or in your cities. This is not really one s tent. This is about living in a community. Just as we read in Yeremiyahu {Jeremiah} 17. Another way of reading this can be: Ex. 35:2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an Set-apart day, a Shabbath of rest to Yahuah: whosoever does work therein shall be put to death. Ex. 35:3 Do not kindle {be Stupid/foolish/wicked} strife {Anger or Wrath} in any of your dwelling {Community} on the Shabbath day.
What about the literal kindling of a fire? What if I m cold? Should my family freeze? Or, be without light? No. If you follow that line of reasoning, how can Shabbat be a delight? All of the words and meanings associated with kindle or ba ar are associated with removing or consuming or destruction by fire. The word means to start or create a fire for those purposes. In order to err on the side of conservancy; be prepared to heat your home and give light throughout your dwelling, by having certain things already kindled/lit. If you heat or cook by a literal fire, have it already started and fuel to continue the fire at the ready. Things you can use are timers for circuits, thermostats for HVAC systems, crock-pots and any numbers of helps. Is. 58:13 If you turn away your foot from the Shabbath, from doing your pleasure on my {make it Set-apart day; and call the Shabbath a delight, the set-apart of Yahuah, honorable heavy or weightier} ; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: Is. 58:14 Then shall you delight yourself in Yahuah; and I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Ya aqub {Ya aqob/jacob} your father: for the mouth of Yahuah have spoken it. The Shabbath goes beyond how we are supposed to act. The point of understanding what we can and cannot do on the shabbath is because Yahuah is preparing us. Ex. 31:13 Speak you also unto the children of Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel}, saying, Verily my shabbath s you shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am Yahuah that does purify you. Lev. 23:2 Speak unto the children of Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel}, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of Yahuah, which you shall proclaim to be set-apart convocations, even these are my feasts. We have to see this day as His day. We must be ready mentally and physically for this day. When we do, we can see what Yashayahu means in Yashayahu {Isaiah} 58:13-14 Is. 13:3 I have commanded my purified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness. Is. 13:4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: Yahuah of hosts musters the host of the battle. Is. 13:5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even Yahuah, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. Is. 13:6 Howl you; for the day of Yahuah is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. Is. 13:7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man s heart shall melt: Is. 13:8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be
in pain as a woman that travails: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. Is. 13:9 Behold, the day of Yahuah comes, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. Jer. 51:1 Thus says Yahuah; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind; Jer. 51:2 And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about. Jer. 50:15 Shout against her round about: she has given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of Yahuah: take vengeance upon her; as she has done, do unto her. Jer. 50:16 Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handles the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land. Matt. 13:37 He answered and said unto them, He that sows the good seed is the Son of man; Matt. 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; Matt. 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the malakiym {messengers/angels}. Matt. 13:40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. Matt. 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his malakiym {messengers/angels}, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; Rev. 14:16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. Rev. 14:17 And another malak {messenger/angel} came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. Rev. 14:18 And another malak {messenger/angel} came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. Rev. 14:19 And the malak {messenger/angel} thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of Alahiym. o This harvest or gathering is very specific. It tells you the season. If you further look into it, it tells you the appointed time. Mark 4:29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
Jer. 50:17 Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel} is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria has devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones. Jer. 50:18 Therefore thus says Yahuah of hosts, the Alahiym of Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel} ; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria. Jer. 50:19 And I will bring Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel} again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead. Jer. 50:20 In those days, and in that time, says Yahuah, the iniquity of Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel} shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Yahudah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve. I will do a lesson on the reserved, the remnant, the 144,000, and their purpose. Jer. 30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Ya aqub s {Ya aqob s/jacob s} trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. Jer. 30:10 Therefore fear you not, O my servant Ya aqub {Ya aqob/jacob}, says Yahuah; neither be dismayed, O Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel} : for, lo, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Ya aqub {Ya aqob/jacob} shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid. Jer. 30:11 For I am with you, says Yahuah, to save you: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered you, yet will I not make a full end of you: but I will correct you in measure, and will not leave you altogether unpunished. Zech. 14:1 Behold, the day of Yahuah comes, and your spoil shall be divided in the midst of you. Zech. 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Yarushalaiym {Jerusalem} to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Zech. 14:3 Then shall Yahuah go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. Zech. 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Yarushalaiym {Jerusalem} on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 2Pet. 3:10 But the day of Yahuah will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 1Th. 5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I write unto you. 1Th. 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of Yahuah so comes as a thief in the night. 1Th. 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes upon
them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 1Th. 5:4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Matt. 24:20 But pray you that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the shabbath day: Back to the t [h] urah portion. Ex. 35:4 And Mushah {Mosheh/Moses} spoke unto all the congregation of the children of Yashra al {Yisrael/Israel}, saying, This is the thing which Yahuah commanded, saying, Ex. 35:5 Take you from among you an offering unto Yahuah: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of Yahuah; gold, and silver, and brass, Ex. 35:6 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats hair, Ex. 35:7 And rams skins dyed red, and badgers skins, and shittim wood, Ex. 35:8 And oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil, and for the sweet incense, Ex. 35:9 And onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod, and for the breastplate. Ex. 35:10 And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that Yahuah has commanded; The purpose of this text is to build a house for Yahuah. Naturally we can see what is happening here. Let s see this from a different angle. There are two types of people spoken of in this text. 1. A willing heart 2. A wise hearted hence, nadiyb, naw-deeb ; from 5068; properly, voluntary, i.e. generous; נ ד יב magnanimous; as noun, a grandee (sometimes a tyrant): free, liberal (things), noble, prince, willing ((hearted)). Psa. 47:9 The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the Alahiym of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto Alahiym: he is greatly exalted. artful): chakam, khaw-kawm ; from 2449; wise, (i.e. intelligent, skillful or ח כ ם cunning (man), subtil, ((un-)), wise((hearted), man). chakam, khaw-kam ; a primitive root, to be wise (in mind, word or ח כ ם act): x exceeding, teach wisdom, be (make self, show self) wise, deal (never so) wisely, make wiser. Who will not be apart of His tabernacle? Those who do not have a willing heart, and or no wise hearted person. Closing scripture: Prov. 29:9 If a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
