THE LIFE OF KING SOLOMON 1 KINGS 3:1-5; 11:1-8
EXAMINING SOLOMON S WISDOM: True wisdom starts with the worship of God (3:1-4).
Romans 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
EXAMINING SOLOMON S WISDOM: True wisdom starts with the worship of God (3:1-4). True wisdom is available to the humble of heart (3:7; Jam. 1:5).
James 1:5 If any lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach and it will be given to him.
EXAMINING SOLOMON S WISDOM: True wisdom starts with the worship of God (3:1-4). True wisdom is available to the humble of heart (3:7; Jam. 1:5). True wisdom is best understood as a gift from God (3:11-12; Jam. 1:5, 16-17).
James 1:5 If any lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach and it will be given to him. James 1:16-17 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is variation or shadow due to change.
EXPLAINING SOLOMON S CHOICES: If you trust God s Word, you need not test God s wisdom (1 Kings 11:10; Ecc. 1-2).
If you trust God s Word, you need not test God s wisdom (1 Kings 11:10; Ecc. 1-2). Solomon experientially tested: Education (Ecc. 1:13-14) Entertainment (2:1-2) Alcohol (2:3) Success (2:4-9) Anything his heart desired (2:10)
EXPLAINING SOLOMON S CHOICES: If you trust God s Word, you need not test God s wisdom (1 Kings 11:10; Ecc. 1-2). If you awaken sinful desires, it is unlikely you will be able to control those desires (1 Kings 11:9; 1 Tim. 6:11).
1 Kings 3:3 Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father, only he sacrificed and made offerings at the high places. 1 Kings 11:1-4 Now King Solomon loved many foreign women Moabite, Ammonite Sidonian Solomon clung to these in love and his wives turned away his heart. For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after their gods.
1 Kings 11:1-4 And Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. So Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not wholly follow the Lord Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Molech the abomination of the Ammonites and so he did for all his foreign wives, who made offerings and sacrifices for their gods.
6:11). If you know the right thing to do, don t assume you will do the right thing (1 Kings 11:6)
Even though Solomon had a wise foundation upon which to build, he chose to build on a faulty one.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
Even though Solomon had a wise foundation upon which to build, he chose to build on a faulty one.
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 3. You shall have no other gods before Me.
