1 MONTHLY PROJECT REPORT SEPTEMBER 2017 PROJECTS COMPLETED IN SEPTEMBER 27 NUMBER OF PROJECTS RUNNING (as of ) 118 EXPENDITURE SEPTEMBER 3,061, AFGHANISTAN WIDOWS SUPPORT This is an ongoing project for the sponsorship of widows. We are currently sponsoring 260 widows in Afghanistan. PROVISION OF BOOKS Books will be distributed among various Islamic institutions and individuals across Afghanistan. TEACHER SPONSORSHIP This is our new project for Teachers. We will be supporting 120 teachers in Afghanistan. ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP Under this project UWT will disburse monthly sponsorship payments to 500 registered Afghanistan orphans.
2 MASJID CONSTRUCTION This is our new project in Afghanistan. A masjid will be constructed in the Village Salehan of district Panjwai. ALBANIA TEACHER SPONSORSHIP This is a regular project in Albania in which UWT will be paying a monthly amount to 10 teachers and 6 scholars who will give an Islamic education in Masajid and Makatib in the local community. CASH GRANTS 110 families will be given cash grants. Both male-headed families and female-headed families will be provided with cash grants. ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP This is regular project. Currently we are sponsoring 200 Orphans, which are from and around the area of Tirana.
3 BOOKS DISTRIBUTION This is a new project in Albania. Books are being distributed among various Islamic institutions and individuals across Albania. BANGLADESH WATER HAND PUMPS 217 water hand pumps have been installed in different areas of districts Panchagarh and Dinajpur and have been completed successfully alhamdulillah. 433 Water Hand Pumps are under construction right now.
4 INCOME GENERATION PROJECT Under this project, 15 new businesses are being established in Bangladesh. The targeted beneficiaries are those widows, orphans & poor people who are vulnerable & dependent. The project has been undertaken to reduce their level of dependency. Rickshaw vans, cows & sewing machines are being given to the beneficiaries. ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP 118 orphans are currently being sponsored in Bangladesh. Each orphan receives an allowance of 25 per month for food, clothing and an education. FLOOD RELIEF This programme will provide emergency relief to the flood affected people of different districts of Bangladesh. It will provide 1000 families with food packs and other items. BURMA TEACHER SPONSORSHIP UWT has initiated a scheme to sponsor qualified teachers who will be able to set up classes to teach children after school and in the evenings. Two hundred teachers receive monthly support, so children can be taught for free.
5 ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP 150 orphans are being given monthly support. This helps the orphans with financial support to cover their basic needs, helping them to continue their education. UWT has initiated a project with 2 Orphanages. Food Assistance and classes have been set up to feed and teach children. ORPHANAGE SUPPORT
6 MAKTAB SUPPORT There is an immediate need for the running of Masajid and Makatib in the Sittawe refugee camp to enable the Muslims and their children to pray fives a day and receive an Islamic education. EMERGENCY RELIEF Nearly 400,000 Rohingya refugees have fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar over the past few weeks, with numbers increasing every day. Most of the Rohingya refugees are women and children, and they are in desperate need of food, shelter, clean water and medical aid. This project will provide food items to 6,500+ families in Cox Bazara and also provide Tarpulin for 1,000 families. UWT are also in the process of constructing over 400 shelters.
7 CHECHNYA ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP 100 orphans in and around Grozny are being supported with 25 per month. SUPPORT FOR DISABLED CHILDREN Three children with disabilities are receiving monthly financial assistance. Business start-ups are currently being set-up for 62 widows. Start-ups include cattle breeding, mini shops, sewing machines etc. NEW LIVELIHOODS GAMBIA HIFDH SPONSORSHIP 330 Hifdh students are being given monthly support in order to learn the Qur an.
8 TEACHER SPONSORSHIP Twenty-five teachers are being given monthly support in order to teach the Qur an for free to children. MASJID CONSTRUCTION This is our new project in Gambia. One masjid will be constructed in the village of Kunting. The land has been donated by a local resident. ISLAMIC BOOKS The purpose of this project is to supply educational books to various Masajid/Maktab across Gambia to support poor students/adults with their educational needs. HAITI MEDICAL AID Each month, around 500 patients in Miragoane (and surrounding areas) are given medical treatment and advice.
9 INDIA HIFDH SPONSORSHIP 530 young students are being given monthly support to complete the memorisation of the Qur an. TEACHER SPONSORSHIP Dozens of teachers across different madrassahs in India are being sponsored to provide a free education to children. HARDSHIP CASES The aim of this project is to support people who are suffering from acute poverty by providing financial assistance for their medical treatments, medicine, housing etc. UWT field workers will oversee the project. MASJID CONSTRUCTION 4 masajid in Rajasthan are currently under construction. CATARACT SURGERIES Hospitals are being supported in order for them to provide free Cataract treatments to those who are unable to afford the treatment.
10 ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP The guardians of 42 orphans each receive a monthly allowance of 25 to cover their nutritional, health and educational needs. WATER HAND PUMP Hundreds of Water Hand Pumps have been constructed recently, at the moment work on 400 hand pump is in progress. WIDOWS SUPPORT This is our new Widows support project in India. Under this project 260 widows will be supported. WINTER CLOTHING This is our new project in India under which we will provide jackets, shoes, socks, winter caps, quilts and quilt covers to 2415 orphan students in orphanages and local community. WINTER CLOTHING This programme is providing emergency relief to the flood affected people of different districts of Asaam. The programme will provide 2,463 families with food packs and other items.
11 FOOD AID This is our new project in India. Under this project; rice, daal & mustard oil will be provide to 24 Madrassas across Sunderban & other areas of India. A total of 4900 student will benefit from this project. IRAQ EMERGENCY RELIEF The project seeks to distribute food packs to thousands of families in West Mosul IDPs camps in Nineveh district.
12 VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE A vocational training centre is being established in Bahrka camp, Erbil, for internally displaced widows, divorced women, and the wives of missing men. One hundred women are being trained and provided with sewing machines and other items. WIDOWS SUPPORT The programme will support 250 widows from Baghdad and Anbar with cash assistance to support them with the daily essentials.
13 KASHMIR ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP Monthly grants of 25 are being provided to 232 orphans in Azad. Kashmir. WIDOW SUPPORT One hundred and thirty six widows are receiving monthly support.
14 MEDICAL AID A clinic in Kotli is providing free treatment and medicines to poor rural people. MACEDONIA TEACHER SPONSORSHIP This is a new project in Macedonia in which UWT is be paying the monthly wages and rental charges for two classes, including the cost of electricity and fuel etc. Each teacher is teaching an Islamic education in Masajid and Makaatibs in the local community. A total of 9 teachers will be enrolled. MADAGASCAR TEACHER SPONSORSHIP This is a new project in Madagascar in which UWT will be financially supporting 125 teachers who will teach an Islamic education in Masajid and Makatab in their local communities.
15 MALAWI MASJID CONSTRUCTION 6 masajid are under construction in Chiradzulu, Mulanje and the district of Zomba. People There was no masjid in the locality and people were going very far to pray. This project should prevent that. MEDICAL CLINCS The project is an extremely beneficial project which has helped thousands of people. The people now have access to health care whereas previously they would have to walk up to 30km to the nearest medical clinic. SCHOOLS SUPPORT Over 30 schools in Malawi are being subsidised to ensure that free education can be provided to poor rural children.
16 HOUSE CONSCTRUCTION This is our new project in Malawi. Under this project 40 new houses will be constructed for widows, orphans, teachers and other vulnerable people who are living below the poverty line and are eligible for Zakat. WATER WELLS Several residents of villages in remote areas of Makanjila have no source of clean water and have to walk for long distances in order to fetch clean water. Providing water wella will provide clean water and save them from depending on contaminated water drawn from ponds. Under this project 50 water wells will be constructed. PAKISTAN UMMAH CHILDREN ACADEMY Approximately 700 orphans are aboard this orphanage and receive a free, comprehensive education. ISAAR ACADEMY This is a new project under which Ummah welfare Trust will the fund Isaar Academy to support the poor, disabled children. In this institution Isaar Academy is providing (free of cost) high quality secular & Islamic education and vocational training facilities to over 100 children.
17 NEW MUSLIM SPONSORSHIP Children, previously working as bonded labourers, are being provided with monthly support, including food, clothing and educational assistance. BRAILLE QURAN This is a new project under which Braille Qurans will printed and distributed amongst the blind people of Pakistan. MASJID CONSTRUCTION Over 30 Masajid are currently under construction; they will all be fully equipped (including wudu areas.)
18 WATER WELLS 150 Water Wells have been constructed recently. There are 600 Water Wells under construction at the moment. HOUSE CONSTRUCTION This programme will build 123 homes for poor families who are currently living in extremely poor conditions.
19 Free technical education is being provided here to poor students in the district of Nowshera. Some of the courses on offer include: surveying, drafting, CAD, electrical training and carpentry. One hundred and forty students are being helped. TECHNICAL COLLEGE UCA IN WANA An orphanage in South Waziristan that supports hundreds of orphans with free education, food and clothing.
20 UMMAH DISABLED CENTRE Sixty five children with special needs, receive comprehensive support, including education, rehabilitation and nutrition. HIFDH SPONSORSHIP 811 young students are being supported to memorise the Noble Qur an. DIALYSIS CENTRE Hundreds of poor people are receiving free dialysis treatment at the Ummah Dialysis centre in Swabi.
21 TEACHER SPONSORSHIP This is our regular project in Pakistan in which UWT will be paying a monthly amount to the teachers who will give an Islamic education in Masajids and Maktabs in the local communities. A total of 470 teachers have been helped by this project. AQEEQAH 196 Aqeeqah and Animal Sacrifices took place this month; their was meat cooked and provided to the children at the UCA and nearby madrassahs. ISLAMIC CLOTHES This is the new project in Pakistan. Under this project Islamic clothes will be distributed to needy people. Amongst those clothes will be clothes for men and abayas for women. A total of 12,140 clothes will be distributed. HARDSHIP CASES This project aim is intended to support people who are suffering from acute poverty by providing financial assistance for their medical treatment, medicine, housing etc.
22 ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP This is an ongoing project for Orphan sponsorship. We are currently sponsoring 1423 orphans in Pakistan. DIR DISABLED CENTRE This is a new project under which Ummah Welfare Trust supports 124 disabled children in the Armaghan Special Rehabilitation Centre in District ASRO. We are providing a free, quality education and vocational training facilities to these most vulnerable children. WIDOW SPONSORSHIP This is an ongoing project for widow s sponsorship. We are currently sponsoring 224 widows in Pakistan.
23 PALESTINE FOOD VOUCHERS Two thousand five hundred families receive a 25 food voucher every month. They then purchase their day to day needs from selected supermarkets. ISLAMIC BOOKS This is a new project in Pakistan. Different Islamic books will be distributed among various Islamic institutions across Pakistan.
24 FOOD VOUCHERS Two thousand five hundred families receive a 25 food voucher every month. They then purchase their day to day needs from selected supermarkets. WATER DISTRIBUTION IN GAZA This project provides clean drinking water directly to households and 20 schools in Gaza who do not have a direct supply of water. 14,000 students and 200 families are benefiting from this. TRAUMA CENTRE This is a new project in Palestine. The construction of a two story building has been completed. The centre will provide continued psycho social support to trauma victims in Gaza.
25 HIFDH SPONSORSHIP One hundred & fifty Hifdh students and 10 teachers are being given monthly support. ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP Three Thousand & thirty three orphan children are being given monthly support. HOUSE CONSTRUCTION Under this project we have identified 81 special hardship cases shelters in Gaza to reconstruct and rehabilitate these shelters to be a safe and appropriate for accommodation for targeted families in Gaza. ISLAMIC CLOTHES This is a new project in Gaza. Under this project Islamic clothes (which will include Thobes for men, Jilbabs and Niqabs for women and kurtas for children) will be given to 3,510 people. MASJID CONSTRUCTION The purpose of this project is to support the completion of the construction of Al-Nour Masjid in Al Nusairat (which is in the middle of the Gaza Strip).
26 DEBTORS PROJECT This is a new project in Gaza. Under this project; debt will be paid for 150 debtors, most of them are in seriously dangerous situations due to their debts. PHILIPPINES DA WAH CENTRE The centre will provide an Islamic education to the local men, women & young children. The centre will act as an information point for non-muslims and Muslim's alike where appropriate free literature, advice and guidance will be provided. HIFZ SPONSORSHIP Under this project, we will continue to sponsor 150 children in 3 different institutes and will be paying for their boarding, lodging, food and teaching expenses. TEACHER SPONSORSHIP This is the continuation of our teacher sponsorship program in Philippines. UWT will continue to sponsor 84 poor Ulema for a period of 10 months. ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP This project will give orphans a new direction and will fulfill their basic needs of food, transportation, school fees, course work fees etc. UWT will continue in Philippines covering 100 orphans.
27 HOUSE CONSTRUCTION This is one of our regular projects. 8 vulnerable Muslim widows along with their families have been identified. They do not have any kind of proper shelter and they live in a very poor condition. Most of them do not have house and therefore their families face extreme difficulties during times of rain and cold, the children are those who suffer the most. A total of 8 houses will be constructed. ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP This project will give orphans a new direction and will fulfill their basic needs of food, transportation, school fees, course work fees etc. UWT will continue in Philippines covering 100 orphans.
28 MASJID CONSTRUCTION UWT is building a masjid in order to encourage the local Muslim community to make their prayers 5 times a day. The Masjid will be used as a Madrasa to teach the children the Quran and Islam. SIERRA LEONE MASJID CONSTRUCTION Masjid is currently under construction village in Lungi port Loko district. FOOD AID This is a new project in which we will provide funds for the provision of food aid to 1,800 families in 3 districts. ISLAMIC CLOTHING This is our new project in Sierra Leone. Under this project Hijab & Jilbab will be distributed to 700 women.
29 ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP Ummah Welfare Trust are providing regular financial support to 50 orphans through monthly sponsorships payouts. WIDOW SUPPORT This is our new widows support project in Sierra Leone. Under this project 147 widows will be supported.
30 SUDAN EDUCATION CENTRE Ummah Welfare Trust is covering the running expenses of Umar Ibn Khattab school in Kassala. The school can now provide a free education to hundreds of children. ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP 111 orphans are receiving monthly support. Each orphan receives an allowance of 25 per month for food, clothing and education. FOOD AID This programme will provide emergency relief to the drought affected people in South Sudan in white Nile Region.
31 SYRIA MEDICAL AID The objective of this project was to provide orthopaedic consumables to hospitals for three months with medication, to reduce morbidity and mortality in these locations and improve well-being.. ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP This is our regular project in which we will concentrate on delivering monthly financial assistance to 3,000 orphan children living inside Syria. EMERGENCY RELIEF Under this project, UWT will provide food baskets to thousands of families in Idlib inside Syria families will be given food packs every two months, this is dependant upon the family s size (i.e. larger families will receive more than one food pack).
32 SCHOOL SUPPORT Six new schools are being supported with this particular project. Teachers are being reimbursed for teaching materials, books etc which are being provided for free to the students. INJURED FAMILIES SUPPORT Each injured person will receive an allowance of $50 per month for food, clothing and education. BREAD BAKERY Ummah Welfare Trust is supporting bread bakeries in Syria. The bakeries, covering different locations, provide free bread to 1,600 families on a daily basis.
33 UK LUTON HOMELESS Under this project cooked food (Biryani and Curry) will be provided on each Friday to 100 homeless families across Luton. YEMEN SCHOOL SUPPORT This is a new project under which UWT will provide funds for the operational expenses (staff salaries) for an education center in Al khokha camp. In this center hundreds of Erithereian refugees are getting a free Islamic education. EMERGENCY RELIEF Thousands of Yemeni civilians found themselves homeless and in desperate need due to the current civil war. With the current situation in Yemen there are thousands of refugees in need of food, especially the more vulnerable: newborns, the ill and elderly.
