We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man. 6 The Lord s Prayer As our Saviour taught us, so we pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen. Breaking of the Bread We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread. We share bread and wine together During the sharing of communion there will be an opportunity for prayer for healing or blessing. If you would like prayer, please come to the left side of the dais where someone will pray with you. Prayer after Communion Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us that what we do for the least of our brothers and sisters we do also for you: give us the will to be the servant of others as you were the servant of all, and gave up your life and died for us, but are alive and reign, now and for ever. 7 PLEASE CAN YOU HELP? We need some volunteers to help set up the chairs for the National Trust and NADFAS meetings. These meetings take place usually on the second Wednesday and Thursday of each month. (Not during the summer) If you can spare about thirty minutes to help please contact Rod or Delia. Riding Lights Riding Lights Theatre Company are coming to Colchester (see picture above). This promises to be a wonderful evening don t miss out - sign up in the foyer if you would like tickets. If more than 10 people sign up we can take advantage of the group rate of 9 per ticket.

8 PRAYER The World The situations in Syria and Mali The families of those who were killed in France by Mohammed Merah, and also those were injured and left in a state of shock Afghanistan where more than 2.5 million people face hunger. West Africa where 13 million people are at risk of serious food shortages and East Africa where over 13 million people are affected by the severe drought and lack of basic food, water and medical supplies. Those areas of the world affected severely with flooding and landslides leading to deaths, disease and malnutrition All those who face lack of clean water, starvation and homelessness. The many troubled areas of the world including Somalia, Afghanistan, Egypt, Haiti, Japan, Libya, Yemen, Sudan, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Malawi, North and South Korea, Southern Africa, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Iraq, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Palestine, and Israel. National and Local Our Queen and those who govern our lands. Those deployed in Afghanistan and around the world. Our own pastoral needs All those who mourn. Those undergoing hospital tests, recovering from surgery or who are unwell. If you have prayer requests, please do remember the prayer book available in the foyer to write such requests. Praying for the Olympics The only way the Church will truly be able to make an impact on the 2012 Games is if we start praying early. If we wait till the starting gun then we will be way too late. This month let us pray for: Planning Pray for the planning and delivery of the Games - for LOCOG; ODA, More Than Gold, all staff and volunteers working to make the Games happen, security at and before the Games: for the police, the intelligence services and venue security staff, safety and smooth running of all transport networks and chaplains and Games Pastors seeking to be the presence of Jesus in the athletes villages, on the streets, in venues and at transport hubs Social Justice Homelessness The UK has one of the highest levels of homelessness in Europe with more than 4 people per 1,000 estimated to be homeless Source: Homeless Pages, 2004 The average life expectancy of a Homeless Person in the UK is 42 years, compared to the national average of 74 for men and 79 for women.
