Spiritual News Bulletin Issue #:00139 Vol: 13 June 2018 INSTITUTE OF UNIVERSAL SELF CONSCIOUSNESS MOVEMENT THE OPERATIONAL WING OF SAHAJAMARGA RAJA YOGA DHYANA GRUHASTHA ASHRAM INCORPORATED (Vishva Sarvatma Bhava Chaitanya Prasara Nilayam) Spiritual Patron Samartha SadGuru Sri Ramachandra Maharaj Spiritual Facilitator Prof. Satyanarayana Chillapa President IUSCM Spiritual Doctrine, Conceptual Guidance - and - Motivators: Bhagavan Sri. Adi Sankara and Lord Sri. Krishna Paramatma (Gitacharya ) UNIVERSAL SELF CONSCIOUSNESS IS THE ULTIMATE AND LAST REVELATION OF DIVINE MESSAGE OF PROVIDENCE TO MANKIND. Message from the Master Man came into being. The latent craving to return to his origin also began to spring up in him, because the real Essence which he par-took of, being very powerful, began to attract him towrds it. The thing which after coming into motion led to be the cause of the creation was also inhertied by him. But that was contrary to the static condition Page 1 of 24
because its basis was activity. When the thought of going back to the static state was stirred up in man, it became essential for him to bring the activity which had sprung up in him into a latent state as far as it was possible. He bagan to seek out means for it. At last it came to his understanding that just as the latent motion was grocesser in comparison to the Absolute with which it was connected, in the same way he must also take up something grosser for the purpose, to enable him to attain the deserned ideal of Reality. This led him to the conclusion that he must create in himself a form of contraction or withdrawl similar to that at the time of pralaya. Now, Self is all-pervading in man just as it is in the whole universe, taking the universe in a collective sense. The state of pralaya comes in when contraction begins to take place. Similar contraction in man leads to his individual pralaya. This means that he begins to proceed from his state of groessness to the real state. The contraction always starts from below and proceeds gradually upwards because of its upwrard tendency. Therefore, in order to go upwards he must start contracting from below. The form would only be to bring his legs and allied parts to one pose and to keep them steady. In whatever way it might be done, the form would be that an Asan. It is essential because it paves our way to the Ultimate. The posture must always be the same. The reason is that in this way he gets associated with great Power, the very thing he takes up in the begining for the attainment of his particular objective. Thus the form which is associated with Reality helps him in a good deal in his primary initiation. (Ref: Complete works of Ram Chandra; Vol.1, p ; Pub. SRCM. Chennai-India ) Swamiji Page 2 of 24
EDITORIAL Creation is Conversion Technology of Consciousness We look with wonder and awe at the vast unending blue sky that provokes intellectual imagination of any rational-being, regarding the mystery of one s own ego - self (jeeva), created universe (Jagath) and the Creator (Ishvara). Pundits of various philosophical School-of-Thought pondered over this mystery, for ages and had concluded that:- Primarily and basically the entire created Universe is naught but, Consciousness per-se. There is nothing other than It-self. But, empirically we see a variety of unending objects with different name and form. How come, this perplexing and, baffling mysterious paradox in the creational gamut of the Reality of Existential life? This phenomena is happening both at two-levels, viz. micro-cosmically, at individual personal level of creation, in man, animal, and other fauna of life, and at Macro-Cosmic level a similar creational process is taking place like at different Gods, representing different energy-power entities of five great elements, viz. Earth--smell (Pruthivi--gandha), Water taste (Apaha-rasa), Fire-- form (Agni--roopa), Air--touch (Vayuh-- sparsha), Space --sound (Akasha shebdha, dhwani), at their both primary-subtle form (Tanmatra) and secondary-gross (Sthula) levels of structural composition. This is my conclusive view. 5 Reality (Ref: Aprokshanubhuti- Sl.50 by Bhagavan Sri. Sankara ) It is evident by stated observations of the greatest Rushi that there is only vast unbroken unending Ocean of Consciousness, constituting, integral fibre of the pure, absolute nature, as the built-up stuff of the universe, and its beings. Now the question is what is the mechanism, that converts it into objectified nature; deludes (moha) living-beings including animal, man, gods, to be conscious of as material, impermanent, suffering, mortal beings of ephemeral nature. This, Cosmic, illusive, perplexing factor that brings about as if conversion of Pure, Absolute nature of Consciousness into unending varieties of objects, is Maya. Interestingly, Maya in-itself is not a fact of Reality, though it bestows and confers, the proxy power of feeling and sensation, to all that perceived by sense organs and mind is as-if real and true to the individual personal Self, Ego. The Seer, of scripture explained the same phenomenon graphically in the following verses: Kalpayatya Atmanaa Aatmaanam Aatmaa Devah Sva maayayaa Sa Eva Budhyate Bhedaaniti Vedaanta Nischyayah क पय य आ मन आ म न अ म द व वम यय सएव ब यत भ द न त व द न यय (Ref: Mandukya Upanishad: Goudapada Karika; Vaitathya Prakarana: 11-K-12) Page 5 of 24
Meaning: This is the definite conclusion of the Vedanta philosophy that the Atman, the self-luminous, through the power of it s own delusion (Maya) imagines in Itself by Itself all the objects, and its individual experiences both in the world outside and within. It alone is the knower of the objects so created Thus, in conclusion, it is to be summarized that Macrocosmically, Reality Para Brahman, in Its true-nature of Pure- Absolute-Consciousness per - se, is as - if transformed into unending beings and objects of Name-and-form by the inscrutable power of Maya, wielded by Ishvara God. And, a similar conversion technology is taking place individually in all human beings, due to wonderful power of Mind, sensory and motor organs. This Conversion-Technology of consciousness is valid in Waking and Dream phases of consciousness where the mind is in functional-format ; but in sleep and other aspects like coma, where mind is dormant this type of conversion technology of consciousness ceases. 7 Please find the English translation of the question and answers below: How did Pure Consciousness (Atman) devolve to become the Astral Body (Sukshma Sareera)? The Book of Knowledge Divine reveals that the Ultimate Reality (Parabrahman), when colour at manifestation with the qualities of Maya, it becomes Maya Shabalita Brahman causing an apparent phenomenon of cause and effect. Thus, as a result of Maya, the Ultimate Reality appears as though it has devolved to become the Causal body (Karana Shareera), the Astral body (Sukshma Sareera) and the Physical body (Sthula Sareera) in that order. Jagadguru Adi Sankara skilfully expounded that the concept of universal creation is only an apparent objectification of Pure Consciousness due to the play of Maya, in the Hymn, Dakshina Murthy Stavam, and compared it to the illusory appearance of a city created on the other side of the mirror, and the mental objects created in the dream in the following verse: Vishvam Darpanna-Drshyamaana-Nagari Tulyam Nija Antargatam Pashyann Aatmani Maayayaa Bahir-Ivo Udbhuutam Yathaa Nidrayaa Yah Saakssaat Kurute Prabodha Samaye Svaatmaanam Eva Advayam Tasmai Shri Guru Muurtaye Nama Idam Shri Dakssinnaamuurtaye व दप ण य म न नगर त य नज तर गत प य न आ म न म यय ब ह रव Page 7 of 24
ओ त यथ न य य स त क त ब ध समय व म न म व यम त म ग म त य न म इद द ण म त य Meaning: At the time of SELF Realization one experiences, the objective universe of Names- and Forms with in him Self the Atman, as though out side, like seen in a dream, is only the play due to illusionary effect of Maya ( mind ) just like a city seen in the mirror. (Ref: Hyman To Sri Dakshina Moorthy Sl.1 By Sri Adi Sankaracharya Pub.Chinmaya Mission Trust Bombay-22, India ) What is the role of Taijasa in this process? Madukyopanishad states that the entire creation is nothing but Brahman; Atman is also Brahman; and operates through 4 aspects which are Vaiswanara, Taijasa, Pragna and Turiya. Gaudapada Karika further clarifies that Taijasa is that aspect of Atman that creates the pseudo reality of universe at the astral (mental) level in terms of cause-and-effect, as-if split into subject and object due to the play of Maya; and it further appears to devolve into Vaiswanara which creates the apparent objectification at the physical level. Pranahuti Meditation and constant remembrance of the Master, who is the embodiment of the Pure Consciousness itself, can gradually help in eliminating the illusive effect of Maya thereby attaining the knowledge of one s own true identity the Pure Consciousness itself. With Master's Blessings, Page 8 of 24

With Master's Blessings Swamiji From: Varenya, May 19, 2018 Respected Swami Ji, Hope you are doing well. My name is Pavan Varenya. Chagarlamudi. I am looking to learn Meditation for about an year to increase focus as well as to attain peace. I am interested in Spirituality from my teenage and paid attention to any discussion related to it. To be honest, I won t believe in religion and multiple Gods. My perspective is There should be a creator who created us, who is the superior power to us. I am explaining a little bit of myself just to be fair and honest. So you will understand how I am bought up according to circumstances around me. I strongly believe any human who achieved highest success or went through deep depression or faced immense failure starts looking for something else other than Monetary and materialistic things. 11 I met ravi garu a month ago and had a glimpse of meditation for the first time. During and after meditation, I had enough conversations with ravi garu about what this particular pranahuthi meditation takes one when you give it a long term shot. Later we spent couple of more hours on the same point, I had a chance to go through your articles and was completely convinced about the ideology of pranahuthi meditation. Now I am prepared and committed to take this a step forward. Hereby I request you to give me a chance to explore pranahuthi meditation through initiation. Thanks and regards, Varenya. 12 Your observation that in group meditation the transmission is usually be more powerful is correct; it is the experience of many abyasis, I am glad that you have clearly perceived this fact. Regarding the dream and it s psychic effects, that you have mentioned nothing to be seriously considered. Mind psych is like a revolving machine that throws out previous sanskaras to be ''relived'' in dreams which you feel false after coming to waking state of conscious life. Prarabdha karma, relations cannot be erased during this life conscious period. And your deceased husband is a projection of this dimension. This would remain till yours life end. Do not bother these psychic aspects of life: concentrate on the present life to make it free from rebirth ''punarjenma-rahitya', by completely merging in Atman, the Ultimate Reality. Meditation is helping you in this aspect; it takes time to erase out old sanskaras. With Master's Blessings Swamiji From: Undisclosed May 8, 2018 Dear Swamiji, Namaskaaram! I wanted to share a very small experience that I had today. I was in my pooja room and was performing abhishekam to lord shiva by chanting shiva panchaa kshari. I experienced immense tranquillity like never before followed by lightness in my chest. This condition urged me to do meditation right away. I then closed my eyes, said my prayer and meditated for a few minutes. It felt as if there was nothing else in the universe. I surrendered it all to the Master. Regards, (Undisclosed) Page 12 of 24
Quotable Quotes (1) By Audi Guru Sri Lalaji Maharaj :- (Continued from last month issue) By the year 1923, they started to take the shape of ceremonies and thus during the Easter holidays in 1925, for the first time a four day long organized program was held. The thing that astonished me most was that I did not know how and when these programs came to be called Bhandaras (Urs or spiritual ceremonies). This was an occasion when I started to worry about giving it an organized form. In the year 1927 some rules were framed, which were published with the name Satsangiyon Ke Kartvya (duties of associates of this school of spirituality) during the Bhandara that year. It is a different matter to what extent these rules were followed or put in action but they were a matter of discussions and people made commitment to abide by them in their lives. (Ref: Autobiography of a Sufi Vista-UttarDipti-P.174;Pub. B.R. Delhi: ) (2) Mahatma Sri Babuji Maharaj (continued from last Month issue) 28 th November At 11:44A.M. some initiations were cut off as per orders. I was given some guidelines of work when on tour. 1 December 1944: Shri Radhaji intercommoned with me and told me some of her reminiscences. Swami Vivekananda intercommunicated, Page 13 of 24
and expressed his happiness over my condition, and with the work I had done. Both Radhaji and Swami Vivekananda told me that the method of meditation they had adopted was the same as is being followed in our sanstha. Swami Viveka nandaasked me to lookafter the welfare of his institutions also. 2 nd December 1944: Kabir Sahab asked me to set his mission right. 4 December 1944: Swami Vivekananda transferred all his powers to me for spiritual work. Agastya Muni informed me that he has prepared the field for my work in the South, and that I should proceed as early as possible. 5 December 1944 : Swami Vivekananda assured me that he would come whenever I need his help. 6 December 1944: Swami Vivekananda reminded me of the immense responsibility entrusted to me, and advised me to become more active. The hours of your journey should be spent in work. You have a great task before you. You must fulfill it in your life time. You will get directions at every hour of your journry, he said 11 December 1944: Page 14 of 24
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said that his hopes are bound in me, and that I should undertake his work also. He ordered me to go to Orissa. Swami Vivekananda said that religion, in the existing form, should give room to spirituality, which alone should remain, and that all the superfluous things should go away. He expressed his dissatisfaction with our country men s aping of the western civilization. (Ref: Autobiography of Ram Chandra, Vol.3P ; Pub.SRCM, Chennai, India) (3) Letter from Saint Kasturiji Lakhimpur Dated: Revered Sri Babuji, Sadar Pranam! You would have received my letter. Hope you will be healthy and hearty. I am now writing my spiritual condition whatever it is by the grace of the Master. God knows the reason why it seems to me that the person, who takes sittings or pooja from me, has the same conditions as that of mine during the meditation. I feel that the person has got the condition of complete Layavastha in God. I saw a dream last night that a healthy man with a short beard like that of a mahatma, peace and bliss personified was singing a bhajan Prabhu Mere Avgun Chit Na Dharo. Oh God! Do not keep my defects in your mind; it seemed that I was coming from a long distance. On approaching Him, I clung to His feet. He lifted me like a child and said to me, I am singing out of Page 15 of 24
joy at your death. Since then, on awakening, my condition has become peculiar and I cannot describe it in words. Neither I can laugh nor can I weep. It seems that this condition has a great effect on me. Since, then it seems to me that an auspicious atmosphere or a blessing has spread in my house. On listening that sacred Bhajan, I reach that great mahatma and clinging to His feet. His face was somewhat different but His tone, sound and its sweetness resembled a lot with that of yours. The pitch of the voice was louder that that of yours. What this was all about, you may know better. I have written to you what I understood. Amma conveys her blessings. Love to younger brothers and sisters. Your most humble daughter, kasturi (4) Dr. K.C. Varadachari (continued from last month issue) The immensity of Brahman and the immortal freedom of Brahman are essentially the differentia between it and the individual souls. Brahman is infinite in nature, as well as in consciousnessfunction; the individuals on the contrary are finite in their substantiality and limited in their consciousness-functions only during their evolutionary or bondage periods. The selves retain their distinctions even after abandoning their bodies but they are all the same pervaded by Brahman. A merger cannot take place, since that involves the conclusion that limitation is unreal or transitory, which means that the true multiplicity in unity cannot be sustained nor is it possible to hold that Pure Intelligence such as that of the Perfect Being could in any sense be obscured or hidden by Maya. (Ref: Shri Ramanuja s Theory of Knowledge-Problem of unity; P.136;Pub.T.T.D.; Tirupati, India) Page 16 of 24

Explanation: The Man-of-Realization, lives in total freedom at all times and under all circumstances. He puts no curb upon himself. He does not seek fields of activities. Whatever circumstances reach him, he accepts it without any anxiety or hesitation. He lives meeting his prarabdha openly, without any fear or favour. Nothing affects him, nothing entangles him. In no activity does he entertain the idea that he is the doer. The Wise does freely without the bondage of ego and egocentric-desires. Neither He has ego-sense within, nor has the ego-feeling towards the world-of-objects; he has neither I- ness nor my-ness. The intellect the equipment that discriminates the good and the evil has been transcended by him. That is why the Wise are compared to the innocent actions of children. (7) Yogavasista Mokshadvaare Dvaarapaalaas catvaarah parikirtitaah -Shamo vichaarah santoshas caturthah saadhusangamah म र रप ल स च व र प रक त त शम वच र स त षस च त थ स ध स गम Meaning: There are four gate-keepers at the entrance to the Realm of freedom (Moksha). They are self-control, spirit of enquiry, contentment, and good company. Page 18 of 24
Explanation: The highest form of dispassion born of pure discrimination is superior to dispassion born of circumstantial cause or an utter disgust. Such dispassion is surly due to the grace of God. This grace meets the maturity of discrimination at the exact moment when dispassion is generated in the heart. As long as the highest wisdom does not drawn in the heart the person revolves in the wheel of birth and death. One should approach an enlightened teacher and by asking the right question with right attitude, elicit the teaching. It then becomes an integral part of one s being. (8) Book of Knowledge Divine (Continued from last month issue) According to Vedic Concept, creation is a volitional act (Sankalpa) of God, (Eshwara), In the beginning all this was Brahman (God) {Ai. Up.1-1,2-2, Ch.Up , Aarsha Vigyana Sarvasvamu (AVS) by Sri Rama Krishna Sastry, Chillapa)}. There was no other than himself. He willed that he may become many and created All this by a process known as Tapah an intense thought activity generating Celestial heat ; having created all this, he indwelled init (Ref-AVS). He became the gross, manifested, concrete, and defined universe; and also the subtle, unseen and un-manifested (Avyakta), the undefined. Thus, He became every thing the Real-unreal, Truth-untruth, Knowledge-non knowledge, Supported-unsupported. There is nothing other than It-self, the Reality. 21 Shree Babuji Maharaj 119 Jayanthi Celebrated at Hyderabad Ashram One hundred and nineteenth Jayanthi of Samartha Sadguru Shree Ramchandra Maharaj was celebrated with reverence and devotion at Ashram IUSCM H Q., on Sunday 29th April 2018.Photographs of our Masters were decorated with colourful flowers and garlands and fruits and prasadam were offered. Swamiji commenced meditation session at 10 am which lasted for one hour. During one hour period Associates had deep transmission which lifted them to new spiritual heights due to abundant flow of Pranahuti by the kind grace of Masters. After meditation session the prasadam was distributed to Associates. In Satsangh that followed meditation, Swamiji covered many spiritual aspects including a brief out line of life of Babuji Maharaj. Swamiji enlightened the gathering that people by ignorance (Avidya) habituated to identify themselves with bodymind complex which was ever undergoing changes from birth to final end. They had completely ignored the Self which is eternal. Every one, Swamiji exhorted to think that mind is like an instrument (like a cell phone) only and self stands as Sakshi in waking and dream states. According Advaitic Philosophy, there exists only Pure Consciousness but due to Maya of Parabrahman the variance occurred in terms of form and name, Which is seen by mind. Page 21 of 24
Once mind becomes dormant as in deep sleep there is no variance, and only Self remains as It is. In this connection Swamiji referred to Maya Panchakam of Shri Adi Sankaracharya which indicates even Brahma,Vishnu, Maheswar and other gods were also deeply affected by Maya. Having human birth, one should crave to know about the Creator, creation and his own Self and their relationship with one another. Then only manava janma (human life) would be fruitful. Swamiji informed the participants that Shree Babuji Maharaj wsa born in a well to do family in Sahajahanpur of Uttar Pradesh. With his Master Shree Lalaji Maharaj's Grace He had simplified the complex Ashtanga Yoga of Maharshi Patanjali and popularized Pranahuthi based Meditation by establishing Sri Ramchandra Mission. Shree Babuji Maharaj was so liberal that he readily granted spiritual progress to very large number of Associates. Shree Babuji Maharaj Life span ranged from 30 April 1899 to 19 April The programme was coordinated by Ashram Associates under the guidance of Swamiji. The lunch was served to all the participants at the end of programme. May our Masters, Shree Lalaji Maharaj and Shree Babuji Maharaj shower their infinite Grace through our Beloved Swamiji on all our Associates for their spiritual progress as well as their well being. 23 GIVE YOUR MIND (A GEAR): Mind, How will it react or behave in this materialistic / spiritual world? The learned recognised that it works through 5 ways akin to a gearbox of a car of the modern world. Higher the gear betters the performance. 1. KSHIPTA / CHANCHAL : here it is akin to a Monkey. Just whiling away time hoping on a tree to a tree. 2. MOODHA here it is like as-if you are sleeping, no reaction to a (any) situation. 3. VIKSHIPTA here it is like a mirror, just reflecting what ever it got, 0 absorption, no knowledge of the situations presented, just dilly-dallying. 4. EAKAGRA here it is like a still Lion waiting to pound but not pounding (Meditation) contemplating, concentration, Dawn of the knowledge of the other dimension. 5. NIRUDDH it is like a piece of dead wood floating on waters or Water droplets on a lotus leaf. Un-waved in any circumstance arrived at or given. This is the top gear one should aim at, so that his life becomes like the one cruising on a Boeing aircraft with auto pilot on. Purport: Without wasting our time we should embark on the right methods to reach the ultimate reality, BRAHMAN to Page 23 of 24
