Day 01: Ahmedabad Gandhinagar Ahmedabad (10/10/2018) In morning on arrival at Ahmedabad Airport our representative will receive you and drive straight towards hotel (Check in time after 12 noon) After freshen up we will drive towards Gandhinagar (40 kms 1hr 10 mins drive). Enroute we will visit the following places: Gandhi Ashram: Set up in the year 1915, Sabarmati ashram was the central point from where the struggle for India's Independence was started. Till the year 1930, the ashram at Sabarmati was the home of Mahatma Gandhi. Bordered by shady trees, the atmosphere over here is very tranquil and peaceful. During the Indian struggle for independence, it was also referred to as the Satyagrah Ashram. Read further to know more about Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat The ashram houses a museum, library, auditorium and photo galleries. The museum exhibits the life of Mahatma Gandhi. There is an archive of letters written by Gandhiji. Also, the museum contains the manuscripts of his articles; several films composed on the life of Gandhiji & India's freedom struggle etc. There are plenty of books in the library that will give you a valuable insight into the life history of Mahatma Gandhi. Anyone can come and visit the Gandhi ashram located alongside the Sabarmati River. It is open from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm every day. Amidst the mad rush of the city, Sabarmati ashram serves as a great retreat. Sabarmati Ashram of Ahmedabad has a lot of significance for people of India, as our great freedom fighter Gandhiji lived here for quite a long time from 1917 to1930. For people interested in knowing about the freedom struggle of India, this is just the perfect place. Infact, it is a storehouse of useful piece of information. Adalaj stepwells: It is one of the most beautiful step-wells found in Gujarat. Situated in Adalaj village some 18 kms away from Ahmedabad, the structure derives its name from its patron, Ruda, wife of the Vaghela chief, Virsinh; who built it in The 'Vav', laid out in the north-south direction, the step well with the well in the north and the entrance in the south, has a total length of 75.3 meters. The carving inside the well depicts intricate motifs of flowers and birds. It was built for the dual purpose of providing water and cool chambers in the hot summer days.

2 On reaching at Gandhinagar we will visit the Akshardham temple. Akshardham temple: A specimen of fine craftsmanship, the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar is one of the largest and most prominent temples in the entire state of Gujarat. Located in Gandhinagar city, the famous Akshardham temple is a place, which consists of a number of things under one roof like art, education, architecture, exhibitions and research. It is truly an architectural masterpiece. Foundation of this temple at Gandhinagar was laid by Bochasanwasi Akshar-Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). Visited by around 2 million of devotees every year, this temple is one of the most popular attractions of the city. The temple dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan, reflects the wealth of Gujarati architecture. This architectural masterpiece is the symbol of humanity in Gujarat and celebrates the commandments of Swaminarayan faith. Made using 6,000 tonnes of pink sandstones, this 10 storied temple comprises 93 sculpted pillars. The edifice is 240 ft in length, 131 feet in width and 108 feet in height. The main highlight of the architecture is that the entire structure of sandstone is standing erect without the use of iron rod. The temple complex houses herbal garden, lake and a waterfall. Moreover, ultramodern Akshardham Centre for Applied Research in Social Harmony (AARSH) is also located within the temple complex. Double-walled and air-cooled halls are also located in the temple complex. In these halls, exhibitions that are themed around Indian Culture are displayed. Hall 1 is called Sahajanand and is dedicated to the life of Lord Swaminarayan. Hall 2 is called Mystic India and the short movie of 45 minutes played in this hall that helps the visitors rediscover India. Known as Nityanand, Hall 3 displays the messages of Upanishads, Ramayan and Mahabharat. 3 Afterwards we will drive back to Ahmedabad. In evening we will witness Garba (Gujarati folk Dance) Overnight stay at Ahmedabad Day 02: Ahmedabad Modhera Patan Ahmedabad (11/10/2018) After breakfast we will drive towards Modhera (125 kms 2 hrs drive) At Modhera we will visit The Sun Temple. The Sun Temple: Timings - Opening: 9.00 AM PM All Days The Sun Temple: Sun temple at Modhera is an architectural land mark being the earliest Solanki temple of Gujarat datable to A.D It was constructed during the reign of King Bhimadeva I ( A.D.). All the three elements i.e. the (1) Garbhagriha with ambulatory and attached octagonal gudhamandapa, (2) Detached sabha mandapa with a torana in front and (3) A large flagged tank are decorated with numerous miniature shrines, while the gudhamandapa is embellished with niched images of twelve adityas, the sabhamandapa is a diagonally arranged octagonal hall with a magnificent set of pillars carrying torana arches in alternate triangular and semi- circular designs. This temple and the Konark Sun temple in Orissa are very similar. This similarity is that this temple was also designed in such a way so as to let the dawn sun shine on the image of Surya, at the time of equinoxes. After visiting The Sun Temple we will drive towards Patan (55 kms 01 hr drive) where we will see the following places:- Patan: A dusty, little visited town, but its narrow streets are lined by the elaborate, faded wooden houses and more than 100 Jain temples, which are worth exploring. Rani ki Vav: It is an excellent example of subterranean architecture of Gujarat. This magnificent step well is said to been constructed by Queen Udayamati wife of King Bhimadeva I (A.D ). This is the highest watermark of Solanki architecture. It is 64 m long and 20 m wide. It was originally constructed of seven stories of which only five are now preserved. The shaft of this step well is 27 m deep. The step is oriented in eastwest directions. The step well has long stepped corridor descending down to the underground tank, it is having four compartmental multi-storeyed pillared pavilions with circular draw well at rear end. The corridor walls, pillared pavilions and inner side of well are embellished with fine sculptures. Nearly 400 sculptures have survived out of the original estimated 800 sculptures, which comprise of Hindu gods and goddesses, apsaras and miscellaneous themes. Time: 0800 a.m. to 06 p.m.

4 Patola Silk: The place associated with Patola is Patan. Patola silk is often termed as the queen of all silks. Patola sarees of Gujarat are one of the finest hand-woven sarees produced in India today. Here, exquisite patterns are woven on sarees with great precision. Here you need to spend couple of hours understanding the work each artisan are doing. Afterwards we will drive back to Ahmedabad. Overnight stay at Ahmedabad Day 03: Ahmedabad Vadodara (12/10/2017) After breakfast we will drive straight towards Vadodara (110 kms 2hrs 15 mins drive) On reaching at Vadodara after check in to the Hotel we will visit the following places as per your interest and availability of time. Sayajibaug: Sayaji Baug (the famous park) is situated on river Vishwamitri and was built by Sayajirao III in Sprawling over 113 acres, it also includes an excellent zoo, the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery, the Museum of Health and Hygiene and the Sardar Patel Planetarium. Baroda Museum & Gallery: Considered as one of the most famous museums of the country it was built in The picture gallery which offers an excellent collection of originals by famous British painters Turner and constable and many others attract tourists from every part of the country. The Egyptian mummy and skeleton of a blue whale are major attractions for those who visit the museum. Other treasure includes the famous Akota bronzes dating the 5th Century A.D., A collection of Mughal miniatures, a fully-fledged gallory of Tibetan Art and oils by several European masters. Open: Kirti Mandir: Kirti Mandir is situated on the north of the statue of Prince Fatehsinhrao Gaekwad near the Vishwamitri Bridge. With a cluster of shiva temples it was built to commemorate the cremation of the members of the Gaekwad family. This "E" shaped large magnificent stone building with domes, terraces, balconies and central sikhara rising to about 33 metres. According to Sayajirao Gaekwad it was built to commemorate the benefactors of his state irrespective of their race, caste or creed. Built by Maharaja Sayajirao at the cost of Rs.50, 000, it preserves in its various rooms the statues and photographs of the members of the royal family. The interior of this elegant structure is marble finished and on the walls of the central hall are the murals Gangavataran, battle of Mahabharat, Life of Meera and Natir Pooja-executed by the famous Bengali artist Nandalal Bose. Open: between 9 & 12 in the morning and 2.30 & 5.30 in the evening. Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum: This is the royal collection of art treasures of old masters like Raphael, Titian and Murillo as well as modern western and Indian painting, Graeco-Roman exhibits, Chinese and Japanese art and a large collection of contemporary Indian art.

5 Laxmi Vilas Palace: The Royal Family's residence is an extravagant building in Indo- Saracenic style. The palace built by Maharaja Sayajirao in 1890 is till date the residence of the royal family. Its ornate Darbar Hall has an Italian mosaic floor and walls with mosaic decorations. The palace houses a remarkable collection of old armoury and sculptures in bronze, marble & terracotta. In evening we will witness Garba (Gujarati Folk Dance) Overnight stay at Vadodara Day 04: Vadodara Lothal Bhavnagar (13/10/2018) After breakfast we will drive towards Lothal (260 kms 3hrs 20 mins drive) Lothal city is one of the well-known cities of the ancient Indus valley civilization. The origin and history of Lothal can be dated back to 2400 BC. Lothal in Gujarat is one of the primary sites of archaeology. Though, it was discovered in the year 1954, but its excavation work began on the February 13, 1955, which continued till May 19, It was done by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) (Closed Every Friday). Afterwards we will drive towards Bhavnagar (120 kms 2hrs deive) On reaching Bhavnagar we will visit the following places as per your interest and availability of time Takhteshwar Temple: In the middle of city, on a hill a temple was built by Maharaja Takhatsihnji in This temple provides paqnoramic city view. The temple and whole compound is made of shining white marble. This is also a wide place to worship lord Mahadev and also a picnic point. Khodiyar Mata: Khodiyar Mata was the family Goddess of the rulers of the former Bhavnagar State. There is a shrine dedicated to the Goddess nearby. The deity of the temple is taken in high regard. The shrine boasts of exquisite architectural beauty and presents breathtaking sites. It has 36 pillars and a huge mandap to add on to its beauty. Evening we will witness Garba (Gujarati Folk Dance). Overnight stay at Bhavnagar Day 05: Bhavnagar Palitana Diu (14/10/2018) Early in the morning latest by 0500 hours we will drive towards Palitana (65 kms 01 & 1/2 hrs drive) and visit the Palitana Hill, details as mentioned below:- Palitana is one of India s most visually outstanding and holy pilgrimage sites. Palitana, located on the top of Shatrunjaya Hills.

6 With the Shatrunjaya River flowing to its south, making this place one of the most picturesque places of pilgrimage in India. The 863 temples, each rivaling the other for its sheer beauty were built over an impressive span of 900 years with each generation of pilgrims making its contribution to the shrines of Shatrunjaya. Amongst all the Jain temples, Palitana temples are considered to be the most sacred ones. Early morning we immediately start climbing up the Shatrunjay hill, the Jain temples are accessed by a winding 3.5-km path with 3950 steps. The reward for the climb, are the superb views and the extraordinary temples themselves. At the base be ready for people aggressively offering to you carry you up in a Doli (a rope chair slung on a pole supported by two porters. Major Jain pilgrim destination, exquisite Temples, Angar Pir, Adinath Temple, Shri Vishal Jain Museum, Jambudweep Temple. We will then visit SHATRUNJAYA HILL a sacred pilgrimage spot of Jains in Bhavnagar district. After an exhaustive tour of Palitana we will return to the base for our lunch. Afterwards we will drive towards Diu (185 kms 2hrs 30 mins drive) On reaching at Diu after check in to the hotel you can relax and enjoy at Nagoa Beach. Overnight stay at Diu Day 06: Diu Somanth (15/10/2018) After breakfast we will visit the following places - Diu Fort is a very large and imposing structure, situated on the coast of the island. This fort was constructed between 1535 and 1541 AD after the treaty signed between the Sultan of Gujarat and the Portuguese. The fort is surrounded by the sea on the three sides and a canal on the fourth side. The fort offers a magnificent view of sea. St. Paul's Church is dedicated to the Lady of Immaculate Conception. This church was built during the 17th century and the most elaborate of all Portuguese churches in India. St. Paul's Church was founded by Jesuits in 1600 and then rebuilt in Diu museum earlier there was no building in Diu to house the antique statues and various stone inscriptions, so the old St. Thomas Church was converted into Diu museum. Diu Museum houses wooden carvings, statues, idols, shadow clocks and other important artifacts collected from various sites. Afterwards we will drive towards Somanth (100 kms 2hrs drive) On reaching at Somanth we will visit the following places-

7 The Somnath temple: The Somnath temple is dedicated to Someshwara, another name of Lord Shiva with moon on his head. It is believed that Somraj, the Moon God himself had originally built the temple out of gold. Though the temple is of Hindu origin, the Architecture has Jain influences. The temple faces the east direction. Externally the Somnath temple resembles the Rudramala temple at Siddhapur. The dome of the temple is the biggest ever made in this century. The temple has large central hall with entrances on three sides, each protected by a lofty porch. Added attractions are the carved doorways, the sculptured representations of Nandi (the celestial bull) and the figures of goddesses. In the balconied corridor is the damaged form of Nataraja statue. Shri Kapardi Vinayak and Shri Hanuman Temple are other spots to be noted in the temple. This temple is said to be the place where Lord Krishna performed all his Lilas. There is a small cave in the temple where a lamp burns continuously. This Jyotirlinga shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva is also known by other names such as Deo Pattan, Prabhas Pattan, or Somnath Pattan. Somnath literally means The Protector of Moon God. Somnath is also known by different names like- Deo pattan, Prabhas Patan or Patan Somnath. The Somnath temple has been destroyed six times and has been rebuilt. Someshwar Mahadev Temple is believed to have built out of gold originally by Somraj, the Moon God himself, then rebuilt by Ravana in silver, then by Lord Krishna in Wood, and then by Bhima (the strongest of the five Pandava brothers) in stone. The present Somnath temple is the seventh one reconstructed beyond six repeated destruction by the Muslim invaders. History of Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple: According to myths, moon was married to the 27 daughters of Daksha Prajapati. But he was preferential to Rohini and ignored other queens. The angry Daksha cursed Moon that he would lose his beauty and brightness. Eventually, moon came down to Prabhasa with Rohini and worshipped the Sparsa Linga of Somnath. Subsequently, he was blessed by Lord Shiva to grow and shine in the bright half. It was Lord Brahma who installed the Brahmashila and paved way for the construction of the temple. Somnath Temple Darshan Timings: Somnath Temple is open for darshan from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm. Aartis are conducted three times a day. First Aarti at 7.00 am second one at Noon and third one at 7.00 pm. List of items not allowed inside the temple: West belt, Mobile phone, Camera, shoes. There are free stalls available to deposit your shoe and other items. Lockers are available to keep your camera and phones before entering to temple complex o Bhalka Tirth is at a distance of 5 kilometers from the Veraval highway. Shri Krishna was fatally wounded by the arrow of a huntsman named Jara here while resting on a deerskin. The poacher mis calculated the foot of the Lord as that of a deer and shot straight through

8 it. However Shri Krishna forgave the poacher and in reverence to the God this temple was constructed and a pippal tree planted to mark the spot. Off late the temple and the area is under renovation which has been taken over by the Central Government. After being hit by the poacher Lord Shri Krishna made his journey at the holy confluence of the three rivers namely Hiran, Kapila and Saraswati. o Bhalka Tirth is a small but compact Mandir dedicated to Bhagwan Krishna. The Mandir at Bhalka Tirth is known as Mahaprabhuji s Bethak, and a Tulsi tree has been planted in God Krishna s memory. Somnath, on the site where Krishna is said to have been mistakenly shot in the foot. Nearby is Dehotsarg where he succumbed to his mortal wound. The temple portrays the many feats of the Lord and his preaching s in the Gita. o The Majestic monument as it stands today (lord Krishna temple) is a recent replication of the earlier construction. It is said that the original Mandir built by the Moon God was of gold. After it was razed to the ground it was rebuilt by Ravna in silver. When the silver temple was knocked down it was reconstructed in wood by Krishna and when this was pulled down an edifice of stone was erected by king of Bhimdev solanki (built by Modhera sun temple). o Triveni Sangam: take Holy Dip in Triveni Sangam where the Three Holy River(Saraswati, Kapil and hiran) met. o Panch Pandava Gufa, Gita Mandir, Baldev Gufa Overnight stay at Somanth Day 07: Somnath Porbandar Dwarka (16/10/2018) After breakfast we drive towards Porbandar (150 kms 3hrs drive) On reaching at Porbandar we will visit the following places: Kirti Mandir: Kirti Mandir is built near the birthplace of Mahatama Gandhi. He was born here in the year 1869 AD. The place is visited by thousands of tourists every year. One can see the residence of Mahatma and his wife Kasturba here. Kirti Mandir also houses a Gandhian library and a prayer hall. Sudama Temple: According to Hindu mythology, Sudama was a dear friend of Lord Krishna. The friendship of two is an example sited between friends even today. To pay homage to the great soul, a beautiful temple was built in the center of Porbandar. This temple is the only temple in the entire country that is dedicated to Sudama. Afterwards we will drive straight towards Dwarka (135 km 2 hrs 30 mts drive) On reaching at Dwarka after check in to the Hotel we will visit the Main Temple of Dwarka. The Dwarkadheesh Temple (Jagat Mandir). The Dwarkadish temple, Jagat Mandir or Dwarka is one of four most holy pilgrimage sites (Chardham) of Hindu faith and is

9 associated with Lord Krishna's life.it contains the Dwarkadish temple, Jagat Mandir or Temple of the World where the great-grandson of Krishna supposedly built a temple more than 2500 years ago which is frequented by Hindus in large numbers. Dwarkadish is another name for Lord Krishna, meaning the Lord of Dwarka. The temple spire is 70.5m (235 feet) high. Jagat Mandir, with the presiding deity of Shri Krishna known as Dwarkadheesh, is an imposing edifice and a superb architectural monument. The temple has two entrances. The main entrance (north entrance) is called Moksha Dwarka (Door to Salvation). This entrance leads to the main market. The south entrance is called Swarga Dwarka (Gate to Heaven). The visit of Dwarka is not complete without a visit to Beyt Dwarka, an island at a distance of 40 Kms. Off the coast of Okha port. The main temple at Beyt Dwarka is that of Lord Krishna, which is believed to be located at a site that was once the residence of Lord Krishna and His family. This temple is over 500 years old and was built by Sri Vallabhacharya. In addition to this, Beyt Dwarka features temples of Vishnu Vishnu (in

10 the form of 'matsya'), Radha, Lakshmi, Satyabhama, Devaki and Jambavati. There is a narrow street which leads to these temples that are crowded by vendors selling local crafts, idols, cassettes, coconut and seashells. A ferry ride from Dwarka to the island of Bet near Okha makes a pleasant outing. Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m p.m. to 6.10 p.m. Afterwards we will visit the following places: Rukmani Temple: This temple stands 2 km away from Dwarka City. The local explanation given for this distance is an old legend. They say, once Lord Krishna and his wife Rukmini went to the sage Durvasha to invite him for dinner at Dwarka. He agreed on the condition that Krishna & Rukmini would have to pull his chariot instead of any animal. The couple happily obliged. While pulling the chariot, Rukmini became thirsty so Lord Krishna prodded his toe into the earth to draw a spring of the holy Ganga water. Rukmini took a sip without offering Durvasha. Annoyed by her impoliteness he cursed Rukmini that she would be separated from her beloved husband. Hence Rukmini temple is located 2 kms away from Dwarka's Jagat Mandir. Maybe 2500 years old, but its domed mandapa and stepped sanctuary cannot be older than the 12th century in its present form. Nageshwar Mandir is a temple situated towards Okha dedicated to Lord Shiva and houses one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in an underground chamber. We will then visit Gomati Village, Gomati Talav and Gomati Mandir. Gomati Ghat Temples: On the banks of river Gomti, there is a Shiva temple, as well as smaller shrines of Lord Rama, Lord Krishna and Krishna's friend Sudama around the ghat, where pilgrims have worshipped for at least 100 years. One can also hire a boat and move across the river to get a panoramic view of Dwarka Afterwards we will drive towards Rajkot (255 kms 4 hrs 30 mins drive) On reaching at Rajkot after check in to the hotel we will witness Garba (Gujarati Folk Dance) Overnight stay at Rajkot Day 09: Rajkot Ahmedabad (18/10/2018) After breakfast we will drive towards Ahmedabad (235 kms 4hrs drive) On reaching Ahmedabad we will drop you at Ahmedabad Airport/Railway Station to board a flight/train for your hometown.
