A Havan is a sacred purifying ritual (yajna) in Hinduism that involves a fire ceremony. It is a ritual of sacrifice made to the fire god Agni. After lighting a Havan Kund (sacrificial fire), objects such as fruits, honey, or wooden goods are put into the sacred fire. If there are any spirits that are evil around you or even inside you they get burned off in the sacred fire. It is believed that this sacrifice will bring health, happiness, luck and prosperity. [edit] See also Agnihotra Homa Puja The havan or fire sacrifice is one of the most important duties in Vedic culture. It is performed at dawn and dusk daily. Special havans are also performed on special occasions like birth, nomenclature, admission to school and convocation, marriage, inauguration, festivals, renunciation and death. The havan comprises two procedures, i.e., the dropping of oblation (ahuti) and the chanting of hymns (Vedic mantras). The oblations consist of four kinds of substances- the nutritious, the odoriferous, the sweet, and the medicinal. The hymns are categorised according to the occasion, and some of them are common to all purposes. Man discharges a number of impurities from his body. In return he should purify and enrich the air that is the common source of life and health to all beings. The harmful gas is carbon monoxide which is formed when the woodsticks are smoldering and not burning with flames. Therefore, the wood sticks should be arranged scientifically and oblations dropped carefully in the fire pot so as to allow more and more carbon-di-oxide to evolve with less and less carbon monoxide. [edit] Havan Gas The nutritious, odoriferous, sweet and medicinal substances, offered in the fire pot, immediately evolve an excellent havan gas that is healthful, anti-disease, energetic and pleasing. There are people who fail to digest the oral diet containing milk, butter, almonds etc., but they can easily digest anything carried by the havan gas direct to the lungs. The havan gas contains a rich carbon-di-oxide which combines with water used at the fire place, becomes heavier to rest down, and spreads in the nearby area. This nourishes the plants grown in the area. Thus for vegetation, the havan gas is better than the normal air. The havan gas carries the rarefied ghee (a kind of melted butter) that possesses a disintegrating power of high order. It disintegrates the impure, stinking and infected substances present in the atmosphere, reduces them to lighter components, and drives them out of the house. The fresh and good air then comes is, purifying the house both physically 1
and chemically. It is a common experience that ghee freezes earlier than water does. The hot havan gas carrying rarefied ghee rises up in the atmosphere where the water vapors are in abundance. The ghee gets frozen, becomes heavier, and moves back to the earth along with clouds of water. Thus the havan gas helps a lot in bringing the rains down. The rains come to the earth through the havan gas in addition to that falling naturally. Please sit in the morning to perform havan. Havan must be in sunlight then it is more beneficial. Then half a bowl of fresh water with a tablespoon must be with you with small twigs especially of mango tree if possible. Havan samagri, ghee, camphor and match box must be there with you. Please sit on such asan on four times folded blanket and blanket must be on mat. Sukh asan i.e., sit on duly folded feet in comfortable position. Then first close your eyes and concentrate between two eyebrows and chant Gaytri mantra three times within heart and not by mouth. Then open your eyes. Take one spoon of water in right palm. Chant this mantra, OM AMRTIO UPASTRANMASI WAHA and drink the water put in your palm. Then again take the spoon of water in right palm then chant the next mantra, OM AMRITA APIDHANMASI SWAHA, AND DRINK THE WATER. THEN AGAIN TAKE THE water in right palm and chant the mantra, OM SATYAM YASHAH SHRI MAYI SHRI SHRAYTAAM SWAHA, AND drink the water. Then wash the right palm while sitting, with the same water kept in bowl. Then put the twigs into havan kund with one piece of camphor and burn it. During this process chant the Gayatri mantra again and again till such time the fire is lighted sufficiently. Then chant the Gaytri mantra and at the last add the word Swaha and offer ghee with tablespoon, quantity equivalent to 4 to 5 drops. And if you are alone then also offer in fire pinch of havan samagri from your right hand's finger and thumb avoiding forefinger. So this offering may be of 11 times, 21 times or 51 times as the time suits. The havan with Ved mantras are always offered as the best worship of God only please. Do havan daily and both times. BENEFITS OF YAJYEN: Yajurveda gives knowledge to do pious deeds. The first mantra of Yajurveda (1/1) says that human beings must perform Yajyen in which offerings are put in burning fire with Ved mantras. Then mantra says it will prevent the infectious disease and will give constant pleasure. Saamveda mantra 534 says that the matters like ghee and samagri when poured in fire while performing Yajyen, then these matters go in sky and create rain and make the atmosphere pure. Saamveda mantra 536 says that in YAJYEN, the matters (aahuti/offerings) goes up to sun and gives strength to sun to cause rain. Saamveda mantra 537 tells the offerings in a Yajyen must 2
touch the ray of light of sun. Saamveda mantra 539 says that the offerings in a Yajyen, goes to the sky to create rain so that the animal, birds etc., are increased in number. Saamveda mantra 1379 says that Yajyen must be performed while chanting ved mantras and mantra 1380 says that age is increased by Yajyen. Saamveda mantra 1363 says that one who loves Yajyen, he well concentrates/meditates. Saamveda mantra 1270 says that the offering in Yajyen goes in the sky through ray of light of sun. Yajurveda mantra 1/2 says that Yajyen purifies the earth. It is stable in ray of light of sun and goes to sky and sun through air. Yajyen purifies the air and holds the universe spreading pleasure all over. When Yajyen is performed then air touches the burning fire and scientifically is purified just as water is boiled on fire and becomes purified. Then the pure air goes up and the old air starts touching the fire and after becoming purified goers to sky and this procedure is continued till the end of Yajyen. Yajyen is basically performed by using a stick of mango tree. A scientist named Trelle of France did experiments on Yajyen. He found that Yajyen is mainly performed by using mango tree. When the wood is burnt then a gas, "formic aldehyde" comes out which destroys the harmful bacteria and makes the atmosphere purified. Then only, the scientists made "formalin" from "formic aldehyde" gas. He also did experiment on jaggery Gur (in Hindi raw sugar) and found that on burning the jaggery, jaggery also generates "formic aldehyde" gas. A scientist named Tautilk came to know that if we stay in a Yajyen and its smoke for half an hour then the germs of typhoid are destroyed and all these matters are used in Yajyen. Yajurveda says that four types of things mainly used to prepare offerings for ayajyen- 1. Sweet Like honey, jaggery, raw sugar etc., 2. Antibiotic herbs like gyol, etc., 3. Nutrition like pure ghee, dry fruits etc., 4. Fragrant materials like elaichi (cardamom) dried petals flowers etc. So when all these are offered then it happens that when a household lady in her kitchen fries chilly in ghee then you know the effect of the chilly through air even goes to a far distance like drawing room and other rooms too. So is the case of Yajyen and similarly the offerings of all the things goes to the sky and to sun making contact with air and ray of light of sun. chilly leaves its bad effect to the nose whereas the above said things used in Yajyen leave the best affect in atmosphere according to the qualities of each thing. That is why Saamveda mantra 3 says that burning fire is like messenger/ambassador which does work to carry the effect of all above things to the sky i.e., spreads. Everybody knows that things/matters are never destroyed but changes its shape only. There is also a misunderstanding that in a Yajyen/havan carbon dioxide gas is generated. Carbon dioxide is available in whole of universe. Its huge quantity is harmful only but when carbon dioxide comes out from havan, duly mixed with ghee and other things it becomes beneficial to all human beings. Secondly in the mango tree, not much carbon dioxide comes out while burning. Scientists also say that carbon 3
dioxide is taken by human beings in soda lemonade which becomes digestible. Therefore the holy Yajyen in addition is a scientific action which is beneficial to the whole universe. Dr. Kundanlal (M.D.) was an allopathic doctor, he took twelve test tubes made of glass duly purified scientifically, six sets of two test tubes each made and each set was filled with milk and food i.e., six were filled with milk and six were filled with food. In six test tubes, there was air of Yajyen/havan. In other six test tubes there was only ordinary air of garden filled. Now Dr. Kundanlal started regular watch on each test tube. He found the result that the food which was filled by ordinary air of garden started decaying and giving bad smell quickly whereas the food with air of Yajyen/havan started decaying slowly. This experiment was based while performing a single havan but a spiritual havan containing all things (minimum 21 herbs) will give the best result. Therefore there are unlimited benefits of Yajyen which can not be explained in full being much lengthy. I have forgotten about an article I read in a leading newspaper of Indonesia about ten years back, in which it was mentioned that in a country, a jungle up to the area of 30 miles started getting dried up due to a disease in herbs and trees. The Govt. tried level best to nurse the jungles but all in vain. The country came to know from somewhere about Yajyen and not Yajyen buta simple havan without Ved mantras was started there and slowly, the whole jungle was recovered and became greens, duly free from disease. Yajyen in the night will contain only spiritual effect but the physical effect for causing rain and purification of atmosphere will be decreased as all the things used in Yajyen/havan will be unable to go to sky and even to sun in the absence of ray of light of sun as mentioned in above mantras. Various items such as ghee, rice, herbs, foodstuffs, and other items are placed into the fire. Through the mantras, fire, is asked to take the prayers and consumed offerings (hence the meaning of hu "to eat") to the intended Divinity. For example, if one wanted to perform a havan for increased health, one could direct the offerings to the sun Deity, Surya. If one wanted rain, one might direct their prayers and offerings to the rain Deity, Indra. If one wanted to increase luck and general prosperity one could direct Agni to take the offerings to Ganesha and Lakshmi, two Divinities in charge of luck and fortune. In this way, during a havan many Deities may be propitiated with a specific focus on just one or two, depending on the purpose. 4
About Havan: Fire or agni is one of the five manifestations of life. In ceremonies like Wedding, birth, festivals etc., the fire is lit symbolizing the presence of God. Havan is a sacred fire ritual that accepts our offerings and sacrifice. The sacred fire acts as a link between human's consciousness and the cosmic consciousness. The fire also has the ability to convert the physical components (offerings that symbolize the sacrifice into the fire) into the psychic components as offering to the deities presiding over the Havan. Havan is an age-old sacred ritual to propitiate various deities using the sacred fire as a medium for the attainment of various wishes and boons in the materialistic and the spiritual worlds. We do Havan to dispel the negative energies from our minds; to destroy negative life patterns; to annihilate negative effects and evils of others. Havan also brings high energies into our minds and body thereby paving way for the positive thoughts, actions etc. to enter into our life. They help in re-vitalizing the three energies in our body (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) and help in maintaining the energy balance. Havan also helps in propitiation of deities responsible for the attainment of various virtues and prosperity and help in fulfillment of materialistic and physical needs. In short Havan does the following: 1. Invokes blessings and grace of God in our lives 2. Awakens our auspicious energies. 3. Cleanses our body and mind and 4. Cleanses the atmosphere. How is Havan performed? A clean place is selected for the Havan. Participants should shower, wear clean clothes and sit in easy postures. After prayers, fire is lit and Vedic Mantras are chanted and offerings are made to God. Singing of Bhajans symbolizes the end of the ceremony when Prasad is offered to the participants. How often should we perform Havan? To start with, each person should perform Havan at least once a year on their birthdays. What items are needed for Havan? Following is a sample list of items required. Additional items may be needed for special occasions. Puja and Havan Ceremony items can be supplied. These items are also available separately and can be shipped to your destination. 5
1. Pure Ghee 1/3 Lb. 11. Four small pates. 2. Havan Samigri one packet. 12. Fresh Flowers. 3. Camphor few small tablets. 13. Home Made Prasaad or Ladoo 4. Cotton wool. 14. Kesar (Saffron). 5. Dry, clean, small size fire wood. 15. Uncooked rice (in a small plate). 6. Match Box. 16. One clean plate. 7. Napkins. 17. Mauli (Red Cotton Thread). 8. Glass with water. 18. Havan Kund. 9. Lota with water. 19. Kitchen Foil one Packet. 10. Long Spoon for Ghee. 20. One Coconut. During a Havan, various rituals are performed successively in order to activate various energies and to also develop the right emotion to perform the Havan. Some of these rituals are common and must be observed before every Havan. After these rituals are performed, the main Havan would begin wherein the rituals differ depending on which deity you invoke. We bathe the deities and decorate them by applying tika (Vermilion powder) garland them, offer them food and allot them their place for the duration of the ceremonies. The common rituals for every Havan are as follows: 1. Havan Kund The shape of the Havan kund plays a very important role in generating energies to attract a particular deity. Different Havan kunds attract different deities when they are built in different shapes. Some of the common shapes are chaturakara (Square), Trikonakara (Triangle), chatkonakara (6 pointed stars), Ardha chandrakara (semi circle), Vrittha kara (Circle). In addition to this many other shapes are also built. 2. Pavitra Dharanam & Prarthana At this time, the performer as well as the other persons who are participating in a Havan pray for the cleansing of their hearts and seek divine blessings of their ancestors and other divine beings. Having prayed thus, they wear a ring made of Darbha grass, which is known to repel negative energies, on the ring finger of their right hand. 3. Achamanam & Siromarjanam 6
Specially made copper vessels called Panchapatras are kept filled with water. (During a Havan, iron or steel vessels are not used because of their low spiritual energies. Silver, copper, bronze, brass or clay is preferred). During Achamanam, water is taken to cleanse our body and mind and is followed by siromarjanam wherein the performers take water in the udraneeya and sprinkle water on their heads with their right thumb. The mantra chanted here means, ' whatever be the condition of my body, sacred or unsacred, by the very chanting of your divine names, I sanctify this body of mine in order to receive auspicious energies.' 4. SthalaShuddhi This is a ritual wherein the performer takes water unto his right palm and chants that, ' all the negative spirits who are trying to hinder our spiritual practices, immediately be gone and give way for the auspicious energies to enter our lives. Thereafter, the water is sprinkled all around to ward away these evil forces. Then the performer takes a vessel filled preferably with turmeric water and chants mantras inviting higher beings and sages and simultaneously sprinkles the water with mango leaves or Darbha grass in all eight directions. Sthala shuddhi is a purificatory rite. 5. Mahaganapati Pooja In the ancient Hindu scriptures, the elephant headed deity, Ganesha, is always worshipped in the beginning of any ritual. With his blessings ensure that the whole procedure would move smoothly unhindered by any external obstacles at any stage. Ganesha is invoked into a conical figure made by mixing turmeric powder and water. Turmeric is considered very auspicious and is therefore used to represent the deity. Thereafter, a method of worship involving sixteen steps is performed to please him. All these steps are symbolical representations of the various forms of expressing reverence like offering the deity a golden throne to be seated, washing his feet, washing his hands, offering him water to drink, ceremonial bathing with sacred waters, offering new clothes, anointing him with sandal paste and other perfumes, adorning of jewels, worshipping with flowers, offering of fragrant incense, lighting the lamp, offering food, fruits and sweet drinks, chanting his praises, offering Arathi and finally seeking his blessings. This ritual is done to all the important deities in every Havan. 7
6. Kalasha Pooja This is a very important step in the Havan for it is here that we invoke the main deity of the Havan. If it is a Gayatri Havan, Goddess Gayatri is invoked; in a sudarshana Havan, Sudarshana is invoked and so on. The deity is invoked and worshipped in the copper pot filled with water. A coconut is placed over the mouth of the pot and the coconut is surrounded by five or seven mango leaves. This is further decorated with flower garlands and a cloth is draped over it. It is placed at the North- Eastern corner of the Havan kund or the sacrificial fire. Shodashopachara Pooja is performed to the respective deities in the kalasha. Yet another significance of the copper pot is that it absorbs all the positive energies generated during the Havan and hence the divine water in the Kalasha is sprinkled upon and distributed to the participants at the end of the Havan. This water becomes charged with all the divine energies and has immense healing powers. Shodashopachara Pooja is performed to Sri Amma and Bhagavan seeking their blessings. 7. Agni Pratishtapanam, Dhyanam & Agni alankaranam Here, the sacrificial fire or Havan kund is sanctified by chanting mantras, before the fire deity, Agni is invoked. Sticks from select trees are only used for Havans. Mostly, the sticks of the Pipal tree are used. The sticks are burned in a vessel till it is red-hot and then from the southeastern corner they are poured into the kund over the pile of sticks and grass that are already placed inside. Then, amidst chantings, the performer gently blows the red-hot sticks and the fire rises up. Thereafter, ghee is offered and the participants meditate upon Agni. The success of a Havan very much depends upon how the participants relate to the fire because he serves as the medium between this mortal world and the other mystical worlds. After meditating on fire is done, the fire deity is decorated by placing flowers on the eight corners of the Havan kund, amidst chantings. Water is sprinkled on all the four sides of the kunda and thus Agni becomes ready to accept the offerings offered to him. 8. Sankalpam This is like the heart of the Havan. The entire Havan depends upon the strong will of the participants. Each Havan is performed for a definite purpose and it is this purpose that the performer and participants clearly hold within their hearts as they take Sankalpa (strong will). 8
The Sankalpa mantra itself is a very clear declaration stating that I am performing this particular Havan to invoke and please this deity under the guidance of Sri Kalki & Amma for this individual/family, who is/are born under this sign of the zodiac and ruled by this Nakshatra. 9. Pradhana Havan Pradhana Havan means 'the main part of Havan'. This is when the main mantra pertaining to the presiding deity is chanted 108 times continuously. Along with the chanting of the Moolamantra or the main mantra, various offerings like nine grains, medicinal herbs, dry fruits, rice cooked in ghee, cooked rice mixed with jaggery, silver flowers, gold flowers, black sesame seeds and various others are offered into the fire. The offerings are never the same and differ from Havan to Havan because each deity responds to a particular offering. All these details about the various offerings for various havans are already stated in the Indian scriptures and have been followed meticulously over the ages by people. The common offerings for every Havan are Sticks and ghee. In the scientific sense, each of these offering generates energies or vibrations of a particular frequency and in that frequency, that particular deity become accessible. So one must not mistake that how can this food be transported via fire to the deity. It is the vibrations generated that help us communicate to the deities. 10. Jayadi Havan The name itself suggests that this Havan is for victory; for the success of all that we have done so far. During this procedure, mantras are chanted to appease the various forces of nature like wind, sun, moon, earth, rains, oceans, etc. The performer also expresses gratitude to all these forces of nature for it is with their cooperation that the Havan has been possible. 11. Purnahuti The name Purnahuti itself speaks, meaning "complete offering away of oneself". It is the offering of 9 types of grain, ghee etc. that you put into the fire, amidst the chanting of special mantras which according to the Vedas have got special vibrations to create a certain atmosphere or to grant your particular wish. The participants feel deep within their hearts as to how finally the blessing for what they seek must come from the divine. The aahuti used to be formerly brought by the neighbors and friends: it was mixed and offered to the fire by everyone 9
present. All present would chant "Swaha" in unison after the priest has recited the particular chant. Swaha means, "we offer". Putting Aahuti into the "fire kund" (Sacrificial Fire) is symbolic of putting our abilities into a field of activity in a spirit of dedication. Then you would leave the fruits to the higher power. If you have done the above in the right spirit then the power would most probably bless you by making your efforts a success. Externally, this feeling is symbolized by the final ahuti, which includes dry coconut, nine grains, nine gems, five metals (silver, gold, copper, zinc & brass), betel leaves, betel nuts, dry fruits, medicinal herbs, sandal wood sticks, saffron and other offerings wrapped up in a silk cloth. The color of the silk cloth again varies from Havan to Havan. For example for Gayatri, sudarshana, durga Havans, red color is used. For, vidya Havan, rudra Havan etc., it is white and for Kubera Havan, it is green and so on. This bundle of offerings is drenched in ghee amidst vedic chantings and then offered into the Havan kund. The offering of the Purnahuti marks the completion of the Havan. 12. Pradakshinam, Namaskaram & Prasthanam Thereafter, the performers and participants get up and go round the Havan kund (sacrificial fire) three times in the clockwise direction and prostrate before the Havan kunda. Thereafter Prasthanam is done which is the ceremonious send-off for all the higher beings and deities who have graced the Havan. Mantras expressing gratitude are chanted here and the deities are requested to return to their respective abodes. A havan is based on the following principles: Life is death. Death is life While making offerings in the fire, it is the death of the offering, which bears the fruit of the havan, which is life. Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed It can be changed from one form to another. The divine energy produced by chanting the mantras during the Havan is transformed to other forms of energy, which manifests miracles in the physical, psychological and spiritual realms. Microcosm is the macrocosm. Macrocosm is the microcosm. That is, whatever happens through our prayers and chants and visualizations in front of the agni (at a micro level) affects the lives of the people at the macro level, 10
bringing upon the benediction prayed for. During the havans, through the visualization process creation takes place at the psychic level - the macrocosm. The vibration of the earth synchronizes with the vibration produced by chanting during the havan, which helps the nature and the planet earth. By sitting near the sacred fire, kundalini will be very active in the participants, which will help in praying effectively. The sacred fire activates the chakras by reviving the cosmic energy, which can affect our consciousness and produce miracles. In the havans, by chanting, by praying and contemplation the consciousness level is heightened considerably. Then teachings are given based on the context of the specific problems and the participants undergo certain sadhanas, prayers and contemplation. Havans basically help the earth and hence substantial positive karma is acquired. It also helps the whole humanity and thereby contributes to World peace. The havan with Ved mantras are always offered as the best worship of God only 17
please. Do havan daily and both times. BENEFITS OF HAVAN Yajurveda gives knowledge to do pious deeds. The first mantra of Yajurveda (1/1) says that human beings must perform Yajyen in which offerings are put in burning fire with Ved mantras. Then mantra says it will prevent the infectious disease and will give constant pleasure. Saamveda mantra 534 says that the matters like ghee and samagri when poured in fire while performing Havan, then these matters go in sky and create rain and make the atmosphere pure. Saamveda mantra 536 says that in HAVAN, the matters (aahuti/offerings) goes up to sun and gives strength to sun to cause rain. Saamveda mantra 537 tells the offerings in a Yajyen must touch the ray of light of sun. Saamveda mantra 539 says that the offerings in a Havan Kund, goes to the sky to create rain so that the animal, birds etc., are increased in number. Saamveda mantra 1379 says that Havan must be performed while chanting ved mantras and mantra 1380 says that age is increased by Havan. Saamveda mantra 1363 says that one who loves Havan, he well concentrates/meditates. Saamveda mantra 1270 says that the offerings in Havan goes in the sky through ray of light of sun. Yajurveda mantra 1/2 says that Havan purifies the earth. It is stable in ray of light of sun and goes to sky and sun through air. Havan purifies the air and holds the universe spreading pleasure all over. When Havan is performed then air touches the burning fire and scientifically is purified just as water is boiled on fire and becomes purified. Then the pure air goes up and the old air starts touching the fire and after becoming purified goers to sky and this procedure is continued till the end of Yajyen. Yajyen is basically performed by using a stick of mango tree. A scientist named Trelle of France did experiments on Havan. He found that Havan is mainly performed by using mango tree. A scientist named Tautilk came to know that if we stay in a Havan and its smoke for half an hour then the germs of typhoid are destroyed and all these matters are used in Yajyen. Yajurveda says that four types of things mainly used to prepare offerings for a Havan- 1. Sweet Like honey, jaggery, raw sugar etc., 2. Antibiotic 18
herbs like gyol, etc., 3. So is the case of Havan and similarly the offerings of all the things goes to the sky and to sun making contact with air and ray of light of sun. Chilly leaves its bad effect to the nose whereas the above said things used in Havan leave the best affect in atmosphere according to the qualities of each thing. That is why Saamveda mantra 3 says that burning fire is like messenger/ambassador which does work to carry the effect of all above things to the sky i.e., spreads. Everybody knows that things/matters are never destroyed but changes its shape only. There is also a misunderstanding that in a Yagyna/Havan carbon dioxide gas is generated. Carbon dioxide is available in whole of universe. Its huge quantity is harmful only but when carbon dioxide comes out from havan, duly mixed with ghee and other things it becomes beneficial to all human beings. Secondly in the mango tree, not much carbon dioxide comes out while burning. Scientists also say that carbon dioxide is taken by human beings in soda lemonade which becomes digestible. Therefore the holy Yagnya in addition is a scientific action which is beneficial to the whole universe. He found the result that the food which was filled by ordinary air of garden started decaying and giving bad smell quickly whereas the food with air of Yagnya/Havan started decaying slowly. This experiment was based while performing a single havan but a spiritual havan containing all things (minimum 21 herbs) will give the best result. Yagnya in the night will contain only spiritual effect but the physical effect for causing rain and purification of atmosphere will be decreased as all the things used 19
in Yagnya/Havan will be unable to go to sky and even to sun in the absence of ray of light of sun as mentioned in above mantras. Santaan Prapti Mangala Sadhana An amazing and unfailing Sadhana that surely blesses one with a child Married life without children is like life in a desert. Without the delightful cries of children, their pranks, there jingling laughter everything appears so dull and purposeless. Ask a couple who have been married for the past several years and have not yet been visited by the stork and they shall tell you how colourless life can be without children. One reason for the absence of children could be the affliction of planet Mars in the horoscope of the husband or the wife or both. A malefic Yoga arising due to the affliction of Mars could not only make married life unhappy due to frequent quarrels between the couple, but could also deny children. The Indian world of Sadhanas is full of rituals that could help one overcome various problems of life. One such Sadhana is the Santaan Prapti Mangala Sadhana that if tried with full faith and devotion could produce the desired result. 20
Many childless couples were gifted this Sadhana by Revered Sadgurudev Dr. Narayan Dutt Shrimali and not in one case did it fail to bless the couple with a child. In many of the cases even the best of doctors had declared that the married couples would never be able to have children. But due to the Sadhana even the impossible came out to be. Married couple who wish to have children could try this wonderful Sadhana. This Sadhana should be tried on a Wednesday or Purnima (full moon day). Early morning try this Sadhana between 4 am and 6 am. Have a bath. Wear yellow clothes. Sit on a yellow mat facing North. The wife should sit on the right side of the husband. She should not tie her hair and should let it remain loose. Cover wooden seat with yellow cloth and on it place a steel plate. In the plate place a Mangal Yantra. On the Yantra put a betel nut. Then chant one round of Guru Mantra and ask the Guru to bless you with success in the Sadhana. Make a mixture of milk, water, curd, ghee and sugar. The husband should then chant one round of following Mantra with Rock Crystal Rosary while the wife should pour the mixture on the Yantra and betel nut in a steady stream. By the time the one round is complete the betel nut should get fully immersed in the mixture. Om Bhoumeshwaraay Vam Purneshwaraay Namah After this the wife should sit on the left side of the husband. Place a Santaan Prapti Yantra in another steel plate. Offer vermilion, rice grains and flower on it. Light a ghee lamp. Then chant three rounds of this Mantra with two yellow Hakeek rosaries. Om Purnendu Purneshwaraayei Yogaadhibal-prakataayei Putra Pradaatvyei Namah The husband and wife shall have one yellow Hakeek rosary. The wife shall chant the Mantra with the husband and thus total six rounds shall be chanted. After Sadhana chant one round of Guru Mantra. 21
The next day drop all Sadhana articles in a river or pond except the yellow Hakeek rosaries. The husband and wife should wear their respective rosary daily for one or two hours and then keep it in the place of worship. They should wear it thus for one month and then drop the rosaries in a river or pond. Without doubt this is a very powerful Sadhana whose results cannot fail to manifest provided it is tried with full faith and concentration. 22
