The Stone Church with the Warm Heart NEWS FOR HOPEWELL Picnic Buck Youngblood and Dale McQuiston say THANKS to everyone that came to the picnic! It was a hot day but all turned out well! Thanks to them for having it!!! Chair Yoga Joan Miller will again be having Chair Yoga in Fellowship Hall on Thursdays from 1:30 pm to 2:15. She is also temporarily holding a second Chair Yoga class on Mondays from 2-2:45 pm. This class will start on 6/25 and end on 7/23. Improve strength, flexibility and balance while relieving stress and cultivating wellness in this stretchy, relaxing yoga class. Poses are done seated. Chairs are provided. No mat or experience is required. All levels and ages welcome. Cost : minimum suggested donation is $2.( but generosity is appreciated). It doesn t sound very nice does it? And yet it might be the best thing you can do for someone!! I am not saying to berate them or yell at them, but to encourage them to grow to take a step into maturity, to embrace faith and take a walk with Jesus, to give up the sinful behavior they cling to and take on a more Godly past-time. God actually did that with us!! mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness and truth. 3 Local Food Pantry Collection at Hopewell Please give extra effort to our food pantry for the summer months. This is the time of the year when many families are short because kids are home from school and extra meals and snacks are scarce. Please continue to drop food or other supplies in the green box in Narthex so we can help our local community They always need staples such as beans, rice, tomato sauce, pasta, peanut butter, jelly, soups and anything else that may fit into that category. Also, paper goods and bath items (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.) are always needed. Please any other items you can think of would be appreciated. We can't thank you enough for your generosity!!! Habitat for Humanity News News from our friend Deke Spierling... Clean-out and demolition at House No. 9, 25 Johnston St., adjacent to the new Blitz Builds homes, has begun. The Goshen Church s mission trip crew is working there this week. Sue Varden noted that there were several new folks on the crew this year, and the trip is enhancing awareness and involvement of congregation members in Habitat and PresbyBuild. She also remarked on the helpfulness and grace of the HfHGN staff. The Newburgh Community Land Bank covered the cost of lead and asbestos abatement in House No. 9. This house will contain lumber from the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, donated by Tishman Speyer, which owns the Center. Crews from CBS News, HfH International and O Magazine have been on the site recently to prepare holiday-time stories about the house and about Lakeesha, the homebuyer. Pat presented the Financial Report. As of June 15 th, we had raised $38,442 toward our goal of $57,500. Ten of our congregations were represented in the April Walk for Housing, netting $6366 for PresbyBuild. Other additions to the total since April included the Goshen Chili Challenge ($1,000) and the Talent Show ($1,950, including $1,000 from the Montgomery Sunday School kids!). Sue reported that there were 500 walkers at the Walk for Housing for Housing in April, which raised more than $55,000 for HfHGN ($10,000 more than 2017)..We brainstormed ideas for outreach to congregations. As a Mission Partner of HRP, we have the opportunity to make a presentation at a presbytery meeting (December 4 th?) that might include video or slide show, as well as printed information about HfHGN, PresbyBuild, and a list of ways to become involved, e.g., mission trips, WomenBuild, Walk for Housing, committees, fundraisers, etc. Deke will speak with Peter Surgenor about scheduling. Caitlin will provide assistance. Sue also proposed that we pin point a few congregations for minute for mission visits. Habitat Newburgh updates: The Presbytery Council held its May meeting at Habitat Newburgh offices on May 23 rd. Habitat graciously provided lunch, followed by a walking tour of nearby builds. The Board has approved another three families for participation in the homebuyer program. Closing on two homes occurred this week, and we anticipate two more in July. The annual Homebuyers Graduation, to celebrate families who have completed their required courses, in preparation for home ownership, took place on June 16 th at Calvary Church. The Building House, Building Hope Fundraising Breakfast will take place on Thursday, October 25 th.

4 Flowers & Plant Dedication The flowers and/or plants placed in the Sanctuary are dedicated: in memory of loved ones; celebration of an event: wedding, funeral, birth, Installation of officers and new members, baptism, etc. A Flower Chart is posted in the hallway for members to note the date for their dedication. Also forms are available in the Narthex for information to be printed in the bulletin.
