So, toss the map, stick close to your guide, and prepare to listen for God s direction in this journey that is unknown to us, but known by Him. VBS participants will study scripture in the book of Daniel & focus on the following: Day 1 - Knowing Your Guide Jesus is our Guide. Our journey begins with Him when we trust Jesus as our Savior. Day 2 - Following Your Guide Daniel chose to obey God no matter what. God wants us to follow our Guide, Jesus. Day 3 - Trusting Your Guide Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego trusted that God s way was the best way regardless of their circumstances. Jesus wants us to trust Him, just as these three men trusted God. Day 4 - Staying on Track No matter what changed around Daniel, he kept his focus on God who never changes. Jesus wants us to focus on Him by daily following Him. Day 5 - Keep Watching Just like Daniel, our journey is part of a much bigger story. God gave Daniel a promise of things to come. God has promised to complete our journey with Him through His Son, Jesus. Every production camp concludes with the FRIDAY NIGHT SHOW. 3 June/July 2015 Summer Bible Study Wednesday, June 3 thru August 12 at 6:30 pm Join this Elder-led class for a journey through a study on Colossians. This study will highlight how critical it is to know who we are and understand the centrality of Christ. It will provide direction for Christfollowers to chart their course in the challenging waters of the cultural war raging today. The cost recovery for the book is $8.00. Each week, one of our Elders will lead in a time of Bible study and prayer. Please make plans to attend. Wednesday June 3 thru August 12 6:30 pm Page 3 Guatemala Missions From April 25 th through May 2 nd, a team of six individuals answered the Lord s call to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth and traveled to Jalapa, Guatemala for a missions trip. This trip was the culmination of a lot of prayer by our church body and planning by the Acts One 8 team as well as our Elders, who sent a vision team in August of The team worked with David and Jo Brown, who are the Americas Area Directors for Baptist Global Response, as well as Pastor Heberto, who is the Baptist Director of Missions for Jalapa and who has been working with the Browns to support the local Baptist churches in implementing community development projects to meet both spiritual and physical needs. The team focused on two areas during the week. The first was Pastor s Conference that was conducted by Pastor Tyrone Moorehead and attended by local pastors from the Jalapa district (and beyond). The training focused on the Baptist doctrines of the Bible as well as the doctrines of God the Father. The training was interactive and well received by the local Pastors. The second area of focus was evangelism through conducting door-todoor surveys in two local communities. The intent was to find out more about the people in the community so the local church could understand their needs and serve them better. The teams visited over 100 homes and had the privilege of praying with a large majority of those visited. The team saw the Lord move in mighty ways during the trip, especially in relationships that were formed and in the area of establishing a long-term partnership with Pastor Heberto. FBCUM is sending a medical missions team to Jalapa in July and a team to conduct youth ministry/evangelism in November. The youth from the local church who led the team in outreach.
