WELCOME Welcome to Eden United Church of Christ! If you are searching for a spiritual home, please consider becoming part of our congregation. Eden welcomes members who seek a deeper relationship with God in a caring community and who strive to make a difference in the lives of others. We will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism and the Rite of Church Membership four to five times yearly during morning worship. Please see one of our pastors or an usher, deacon, or member of the E-Team if you seek baptism for yourself or your child, or if you would like to be received into church membership. We will celebrate infant and adult baptism and receive new members several times each year. TODAY In many religious traditions, including the Christian tradition, those who have passed during the last year are remembered and the grief of survivors is acknowledged in special ways. TODAY, we honor our loved ones memories during our All Saints Day/Dia de los Muertos worship. During Fellowship Hour, chicken soup will be served for body and soul along with Mexican sweet breads and waters, and various accompaniments. Art tables and supplies are available at our Making Memories tables. Children of all ages are invited to: 1) make a quilt block for John Bulette s gift, 2) sign the Thanksgiving cards for homebound and out-of-state members, and-or 3) make table decorations for the FESCO Thanksgiving Luncheon. UPCOMING EVENTS John Bulette Retirement Party: After 43 years of service, Eden Sexton John Bulette is retiring. To celebrate John s retirement, the Fellowship Committee is hosting a salad bar potluck on Sunday, Nov 12, after worship. Salad greens, salad dressings, and dessert will be provided. Members are asked to bring a favorite salad topping, i.e. tomatoes, onions, veggies, beans, corn, etc. In addition, members and friends are invited to contribute to a cash gift, bring a card to fill the card basket, and help make a gift that will be presented to John next Sunday! Checks may be made payable to Eden Church. Please note John s Retirement Gift in the memo of your check or on your offering envelope. Cards are being received today at the back of the Sanctuary, in the Church Office this week, and in Oliver Hall next Sunday. Please see Suzie Hasselkuss during coffee hour today to participate in the gift-making activity.

6 FESCO Thanksgiving Luncheon: Our annual fundraiser benefiting the Family Emergency Shelter Coalition will be held Friday, Nov 17, from 12 noon to 1:30 pm. Tickets are $14 per person and are available through Brown Paper Tickets and the Church Office. All proceeds benefit FESCO's emergency shelters and transitional housing in the Eden Area. To make a donation to FESCO in addition to your ticket purchase, please visit FES- CO's online donation page. To sponsor a table of eight for your organization, contact Pat Payne. Eden Choir Schedule: The Choir continues with rehearsals at 9 am and 11:30 am every Sunday. All are welcome to stop by and sing! For more information, contact our Music Director & Organist Dr. Jessie Lo. Eden Music Program: Eden s music program provides a wide variety of musical styles and welcomes one and all to serve in the Ministry of Music. Interested in playing instrumental music? Interested in singing? Join the Eden choir! If you'd like to be a part of the music making process for certain services but have little prior knowledge of music? You are welcome to sign up with Dr. Jessie Lo to coordinate repertoire and schedule. SMALL GROUPS New Class: Namaste! Free bi-lingual (English-Spanish) yoga classes are offered at Eden Church each week. Class is from 6 to 7 pm on Tuesday nights in Room 201 (across from the Jensen Room). Please use the West Wing (FESCO) entrance. For more information, contact Tania Martinez. Seekers Book Club: Seekers started a new book: Two Dogs and a Parrot by Joan Chittister. Seekers meet Wednesdays at 10 am in the Community Room. Newcomers are always welcome. Bible Study: Bible Study resumed in September with a new video-based curriculum, Animate: Bible. Remaining Fall dates for both the morning and evening sessions include Nov 6 & 20 and Dec 4 & 18. For information, contact Pastor Pepper, Dianne Dorn or Keith Smith. Eden Stitchers: Quilters and others with sewing projects are invited to join the Eden Stitchers on Tuesdays at 10 am in the Jensen Room. ONGOING PROGRAMS & ANNOUNCEMENTS Cherryland Computer Café Fall Hours: Need a computer for schoolwork, apartment hunting, or online bill pay? Need to prepare a resume, conduct a job search, or apply for a job online? All ages welcome and mentors available to help you succeed. The Café will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4-7 pm, and Comida Wednesdays from 1:30 to 4 pm. Hours are subject to change; please call the Church Office at (510) to confirm availability. Eden Church Childcare Policy: Eden Church makes a reasonable attempt to provide childcare during Sunday worship, congregational meetings, and Taste & See Gatherings without a special request. The church also makes a reasonable attempt to provide childcare for church-sponsored meetings/events. Fire, Earthquake, and Hurricane Relief Efforts: If you participated in our UCC One Great Hour of Sharing Offering this past March, your gift is already at work helping hurricane victims in the US and Caribbean, earthquake victims in Mexico, and fire victims in Northern California.
