For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong. They are weak, but He is strong. Yes, Jesus love me. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. The Bible tells me so! Whenever I fall into times of distress, disappointment, and even into a time of depression, these simple but profound words can begin to part the dark clouds as the light of His love and grace begins to shine. Praying these words as a prayer of thanksgiving is very powerful. These words are a powerful expression of love and faith. Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so. When the world and the attacks of Satan yell at me that this is not true because they ask, Why would a loving God abandon you during this time when you need Him most? Whenever I begin to feel like that, I can yell back that Jesus does love me and this I know for the Bible tells me so. The circumstances around me and sometimes even those gathered around me can also yell at it that it isn t so, but the Bible tells me that He loves me. Therefore, a time of decision throws itself at me. I have the choice to believe the world and the circumstances that surround me or I can choose to believe the Bible. I choose to believe the Bible!!! Circumstances and the world around me has a history with me that is anything but bright and shining. On the other hand, Jesus and the Bible s history with me has always been bright and shining. Little ones to Him belong. They are weak, but He is strong. Too many times, I feel so weak, just like a newborn infant. So weak that it is hard to even care for myself. But even when I feel like that, I must remember that I belong to Jesus. If the weak little ones can belong to Jesus, then so can I. Sometimes so weak that it is hard to think straight. At times like that, I have to go Jesus Loves Me, This I Know, For the Bible Tells Me So Pastor Stephen Kaneshiro back to the basics of simply knowing what God s Word says and then obeying them, even if I don t fully understand them. For instance, when the Word of God in Philippians 4:4 (KJV), it says: Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. It simply does not make any sense that I should rejoice in the trials that I am experiencing, but the Word of God says that I should. The group, Casting Crowns, recorded a song called Praise You in the Storm. youtube.com/watch?v=doqbkyekobi this song might lift you up and help you to believe that although we may be weak, He is strong and we do belong to Him. Therefore, you can praise Him in the storms of life. In times when I have prayed this simple children s song to the Lord, it is almost as if an audible voice tenderly whispers back to me, Yes, I love you! Yes, I love you!! Yes, I love YOU!!! Sometimes maturing in our prayer life means to revert to a childhood thought and song. Simple but profound are the words of this song. Simple but powerful is the relationship that it encourages me to realize. I choose to believe Jesus and the Bible. He is great and I am not. He is truth and the world and Satan are not. I choose Jesus and I want to encourage you to do the same. He will never disappoint you, although we will probably disappoint Him countless times. God bless you as you contemplate Jesus call on you to become a God honoring individual who obeys Christ s commands because of your all devoted love and devotion to Jesus! 2 Care for those displaced by Hurricane Harvey Send Relief and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) teams began responding before Hurricane Harvey made landfall, deploying hundreds of crisis buckets and sending other supplies that would be needed in the immediate aftermath of the storm. Now we have been asked to assist in the care of up to 60,000 displaced Texans in addition to preparing thousands of hot meals and performing mud-out, chainsaw and cleaning services to restore survivors homes. SBDR teams will be on the ground for months to come. Will you join us in supporting our volunteers as they work tirelessly to care for strangers, neighbors, families and friends? Any donation will equip our volunteers to operate units and provide hot showers, fresh laundry, homemade meals and a kind face to confide in. It s only possible through your generosity. 3 Announcements 2017 Sue Nishikawa Offering Week of Prayer September 3-9, 2017 TWO-THIRDS WORLD NETWORK MISSION September 2017 TTWN will head out to the mission field next month and are looking for volunteers called by God to work together for His Glory. In September 2017, from the 16th-25th, a mission team will be travelling to Luzon to continue on mission for Christ. Mission ministries will include supporting new church plants with building construction and evangelism along with medical/dental outreach in Luzon and Palawan. Ask God to provide the necessary support to finish the renovation of our church building. - Kesner & Ghyslaine Guillaume SBC Chaplaincy Spotlight: International Mission Board Connecting in Prayer *Please pray for Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroysman of Ukraine (southeastern Europe, north of the Black Sea). *Maputo, Mozambique: Capital City and Province (mahpoo-too) - Before we came to Mozambique, writes a member of the Maputo Urban Team, what I had read about the areas that needed to hear the gospel were that they seemed to be concentrated mostly in the central and northern provinces, as the southern parts were categorized as Christian. However, since we have been here in the capital city of Maputo, I have come to realize the great need for making true disciples because of the prevalence of churches and religions teaching false doctrines. The country is still a young country of only 42 years, and much work is yet to be done among the Baptist churches that do exist, including teaching basic church doctrine; what a healthy church is; basic Bible teaching for children, women, youth and men; and especially how to make disciples. Please pray for the southern provinces of Mozambique to be saturated with God s truth, and ask that this truth will set people free from the fear of trying to appease spirits and ancestors. Pray that believers will walk in obedience to God s Word in their actions--going beyond words. *People of Factory Belt, China: Some believers living in Gateway City write: Oh, we hate to grow weary, but we long to see hearts here changed! We have been sharing consistently with six families and some others for the past year and have yet to see any fruit. Ask that these families in Gateway City will surrender to Christ. We know that it will not be because of us when they do believe, but it will be because of God s work in their hearts. Pray that we will trust His timing.
