1 The Newsletter of Maury Baptist Association, Inc. Staying The Course In Changing Times Volume 66, 1ssue 10 March 2018 Moderator: David Ward, Treasurer: Suz Gagneur What is the Baptist Association? When I accepted the call to ministry as a young man, people would ask me what I might do. My answer always included the possibility that I might one day be involved in Associational work. Although my life s path included being a Youth Minister, a Sunday school teacher, a Deacon, a Youth Minister again, a Pastor, and an international overseas Missionary, I had no idea that God would bring me full circle years later. For the past 17 years, I ve been privileged to serve the Maury Baptist Association. Without a doubt, it has been the most fulfilling time of my life. I often described our association as a group of likeminded churches working together to accomplish a greater good for the Kingdom than any of us could by ourselves. The DNA of Maury Baptist Association (MBA) has always been and continues to be missions. Along with its cousin, Disaster Relief, MBA involvement has touched people in our local community, our state, our nation, and around the world. (SEE PAGE 2) But did you know that MBA is much, much more than that? Certainly, some of our churches have enough resources and volunteers to be involved in ministries independently, but cooperation is beneficial at any level. This is especially true of our smaller churches who may not have the necessary resources or staffing. Working together through the Association, we help each other in Kingdom activities. Space only allows a brief description but listed below are just a few of the many areas in which MBA can help your church: Mission projects for adults/youth construction, evangelism, Bible clubs and VBS, helping hands ministries, etc. Disaster Relief responding to needs locally and around the world. Hurting people need caring intervention. Youth events, camps, mission projects, outreach, discipleship, etc. Vacation Bible School from scratch to improving on existing levels of involvement. The consistent number 1 evangelistic tool for churches every year. Bible Drill one of, if not the most bang for the bucks ministries any church can be involved in to help children and youth grow in the Lord. Church Support pulpit supply, pastor/staff search, interim pastorate, Biblical counsel and advice, conflict management, networking of resources/needs, etc. Other You name it if MBA can help, we ll do it. Just contact us and we ll get started! Blessings, Bro. Dale Ledbetter

3 Eleven (11) volunteers just returned this past weekend from Orange, Texas (just over the Louisiana line). The Hurricane Harvey rebuild project is run by Texas Baptist Men (Disaster Relief). We were assigned a lady s home whose name was Mary. She s 70 years old and her husband left her a few years ago. She has no one else; all alone. Her house had flooded around 2 ft up. Some other volunteers had gone before us and removed debris and sanitized. She had hired some contractors who basically gouged her on cost. We installed new sheetrock throughout the whole house (up to the 4ft line) and mudded and sanded same. We also installed new doors, new outlets, new switches, a hot water heater, reset her tub and commode and repaired a major water leak on her main line. We really feel God had sent us to specifically help her. She is a believer and was very appreciative. The last day and a half, 4 of us installed sheetrock at two other homes across town whose families had also experienced flooding. These families were also believers and very appreciative. Note: While visiting Home Depot on more than one occasion, we observed hundreds of people trying to get their life back in order. I overheard one man s conversation in that he had just endured 109 days in a motel. Continue to pray for these families.
