4 MESSAGE OUTLINE PSALM Think of all the things we do to protect ourselves but the truth is life and faith are a risk filled adventure. 2. Psalm 125 talks about our security as God s people. (see Psalm 125:1-2) 3. People of faith are not isolated from trouble or tragedy and have the same needs as others for security and protection. But our security is grounded in who we are as God s people. 5. God is always looking out for us. (see Psalm 139:3-4) 6. Jesus prayed specifically for our safety (see John 17:11 & 15). Psalm 125 helps us to develop confidence that as God s people we are secure in him. 7. The difference between FACTS and FEELINGS. Facts don t change, feelings do. 8. The Psalmist lived in a dangerous, violent world, just as we do. The word violate (NIV= remain) in verse 3 means will not cancel God s purposes that are being worked out. Danger and oppression are never too much for faith. (see 1 Corinthians 10:13). 9. The final word Peace reminds us that we are secure because God is in charge and he never abandons us. Next Sunday Our series Pilgrim continues as we look at another of the Psalms of Ascent (or Pilgrim Songs), Psalm 128. Please read it in The Message translation if Page 4
