As we follow Jesus and as Christians our identity becomes intimate and wrapped up in Him. Through God s grace we have become part of the Royal Priesthood. As believers we are given new names from God, and through this we begin to learn what it really means to have God as our Father and King and Jesus Christ as our Savior. Therefore this shapes our ability to fully trust God for our daily bread and our safety and guidance. We begin to Trust in His promise that He has our best interest at heart, submitting to Jesus as the master of our life means we likely have something or other, is the ultimate thing in place of God (an Idol). Not seeing our identity as His child or brother or sister and that means that when push comes to shove we will identify with another master. (lost is hope) Therefore, being confident in our identity (as Christians) impacts all aspects of our lives, not just our witnessing. By understanding that God as our Father loves us no matter what, there is nothing we can do to make Him (God) love us more or less, it provides a peace and confidence that will influence everything we may do or want to do, and by telling others our evangelism will then blossom from obedience to God our Father and not from trying to seek His favor or earn His blessing. 4 Sudoku Easy solution Medium solution OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD REQUESTED DONATIONS for JULY Plastic cups & Small packs of tissues EVANGELISM As I read on the Internet ( I still own dictionaries, just easier right now ) the definition of evangelism doesn t very much. This is what WIKIPEDIA says... In Christianity, Evangelism is the commitment to or act of publicly preaching of the Gospel with the intention of spreading the message and teachings of Jesus Christ. Christians who specialize in evangelism are often known as evangelists, whether they are in their home communities or living as missionaries in the field, although some Christian traditions refer to such people as missionaries in either case. Some Christian traditions consider evangelists to be in a leadership position; they may be found preaching to large meetings or in governance roles. Christian groups who encourage evangelism are sometimes known as evangelistic or evangelist. The scriptures do not use the word evangelism, but evangelist is used in (the translations of) Acts 21:8, Ephesians 4:11, and 2 Timothy 4:For this is what the Lord has commanded us: I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth. Acts 13:47 He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15 From that time on Jesus began to preach, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near. Matthew 4:17 I get it. Go out and share the good news. Sounds easy doesn t it. I ve been told to STOP preaching, oh, you ve bought into that lie, you just believe because that s what your parents taught you, I ll take my chances, I ve never seen Him, if He exists, why does he let children die, it s no fun and many more when I try to share the gospel. But then I m reminded of the verse John 15: If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. We at the First Trinity Lutheran Church, do not belong to this world. He has chosen us out of the world. So when I ( you too) get those negative responses, I will remember that verse in John and stand firm and confess the gospels... The Team will be getting together again soon to discuss future events. We have so many ideas and will have our next recognition service soon. There will be a note in the bulletin and will be placed in it for 2 services. This way we have given a good amount of notice to attend that service if able to... 5 Trinity Christian Daycare Energetic Kids Junk Money.. Daycare at Work Daycare is lively for summer with an anticipated additional 20 school-agers. Other age groups continue to be at or near maximum enrollment. A RUMMAGE SALE in the Pavilion is happening Saturday morning July 14 th ; hours 8:00-Noon. All church members JUNK is appreciated! Please drop off your once-upon-time valuables on Friday late afternoon-early evening on Friday the 13 th of July. Come and buy new treasures on Saturday morning. In compliance with our current United Way Tuition Grant, there will be a Thrivent presentation on savings, budgeting, and investing. Margaret Brown, our Thrivent rep is running this session, approximately one-hour in length, on Monday, July 16 at 5:00 pm. Church people are welcome to join the group. This is a great introduction to Thrivent s services and also to Margaret.
