12 ENDORSEMENTS WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING This is such a beautiful scene of people coming together under a common cause. CityFest is now part of our history. You are showing how much communities of faith contribute to civic life. Mayor Bill de Blasio New York City, New York Luis Palau is one of God s most gifted evangelists in the world today, and a man for whom I have the greatest possible love and respect. Billy Graham World Evangelist Luis Palau may be the most prominent evangelist in the United States after Mr. Graham, although Mr. Palau built his reputation at mass events in other parts of the world, particularly Latin America, where he is still best known. He has a crossover appeal that draws multi-ethnic audiences. New York Times This is the largest, most successful, sustained effort that the city of Portland and the region has ever seen. Former Mayor Sam Adams Portland, Oregon The Luis Palau Association is the right group because they have the right mix of adapting and changing to the market conditions, to turning it into a festival and fun, but never changing from the foundations of the gospel. Doug DeVos President, Amway Corporation I have never known any other evangelistic initiative that has brought the churches together quite like a Palau campaign. Pastor Lyndon Bowring London, England Before the event was even over I had pastors coming up to me saying, This was wonderful. I wish I had gotten involved sooner. Pastor Rick Harpel Yakima, Washington Government, the Church, and business leaders coming together in a partnership that I think is truly unique. Jeff Grubb Regional Managing Director, Wells Fargo 12 FINANCIAL PROPOSAL
13 A listing of his crusades reads like a world atlas: Jakarta, Kiev, Buenos Aires, San Antonio. He has preached on every continent except Antarctica. From Aberdeen, Scotland, to Zurich, Switzerland, Palau has tried to awaken cities to their need for God. Associated Press Any opportunity we have to be unified as believers is really an exciting prospect. Former Governor Loren Leman Anchorage, Alaska If Billy Graham epitomizes classic 1950s American virtue, Palau represents continent-straddling 21stcentury multiculturalism. He is as at home in Romania as he is in Raleigh. Miami Herald We re neighbors. We re friends from the community. And we re doing this because we want to live God s love in the heart of our city. Dick Stafford Phoenix, Arizona I love how the Palau Association doesn t come into a city to try and take over and take control of where the city goes, but it s to bring value and resources and experience and stories and examples and models from other cities to say, Look, this is possible. This has been done. Gabe Lyons Founder, Q Ideas This festival gave us a reason to work together. And I think we couldn t have done it without the Palau Association. We hadn t done it before. And I think we re different as a community because of what this festival brought to our city. Pastor Billy Thrall Phoenix, Arizona When you multiply the impact from one church to hundreds of churches, the synergy comes together and the impact for the city is phenomenal. God needs the whole Church to be the Church, to quit building our own empires, and get involved in our local neighborhoods. Rick McKinley Portland, Oregon FINANCIAL PROPOSAL 13
