An overview of Alive Ministries Project Pray e you r o ed t t i v n i er partn s u with Awakening Awakening A Great in the Nation and the World! Alive Ministries: PROJECT PRAY PO Box 1245 Kannapolis, NC ALIVE Church of God World Missions Project #
MESSAGE FROM P. DOUGLAS SMALL Have you ever felt that you were at the moment for which you were born? All the stars are in alignment, the pop culture version goes. The Biblical idea is, In the fullness of time God That is where we are, where I am, at Alive Ministries. And this appeal is an invitation to join me. For almost 25 years, I have been privileged to teach and train in every state of the union and on five continents, in ministerial gatherings, state and national conferences, denominational and interdenominational gatherings. I started out doing Bible, family and leadership conferences, and then backed into the prayer movement. Working with International Renewal Ministries, I made vision-casting trips into more than a hundred cities, meeting with pastors across denominational lines and leading citywide prayer summits. Then my denomination asked me to serve as their Prayer Coordinator. We created the Praying Church Movement, the Prayer Trainer s Network and suddenly, other denominations were asking for help. What a journey. Two years ago, after serving as the National Coordinator for Cry Out America, I met with Dr. Paul Cedar, head of the Mission America Coalition, and Dr. Dave Butts, chairman of the National Prayer Committee, to forge a partnership that would envision citywide prayer councils. The vision is that of representatives of national prayer organizations working locally, along with local church prayer coordinators and community prayer mobilizers would sit at the same table and form a prayer council, to sustain an ongoing process of prayer. More than events, this would be a strategic effort to push prayer into the seams of the city, to rekindle family altars, to mobilize intercessors across the city, to plant Salty Groups of prayer into every sphere of the workplace. However, the goal is not prayer and yet, prayer is the only starting point. Unified prayer. Humble prayer. Prayer that engenders holiness. Prayer that declares dependence on God. Prayer in the city, for the city! Prayer, that gives birth to deeper and more intentional care actions by believers, and then, readies us to share with those who ask of us, the hope in us. During the last few decades, we conducted Schools of Prayer, Prayer Impact Weekends, and passed the plate as the primary means of ministry income. Now, that has to change. What the Lord is calling us to do is to train prayer leaders, and mobilize a national intercessory force. Yes, we ll continue to do some teaching and conference ministry. But we need to be able to go, meet with leaders in cities, convene and empower others, to catalyze a national effort of prayer and cityimpact. In this brochure, you will learn more about what the ministry is doing internationally and nationally. I hope after your review you will determine to become a contributor. God bless you for your partnership consideration. WHAT DOES ALIVE STAND FOR? A Allying and Aligning L Lay Leaders and Pastors with I Intercessors for V Vital and Vibrant E Envisioning, Education, Edification and Engagement.
INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS The challenge is to collectively pray at least one billion prayer minutes for the unreached peoples of the world. The current emphasis is on the 1.7 million Hui, Ansari and Quashi unreached people groups. Doug serves as the Prayer Coordinator for the Billion Soul Prayer Initiative. Join this prayer effort monthly bulletin, international prayer call, annual day of prayer. Link: billion.tv/ networking/prayer. Project Pray University is an online, virtual prayer training initiative in which laity, pastors and prayer leaders can access online, quality training in the area of prayer, theology of prayer, prayer leadership and ministry, intercession, prayer evangelism and more. Course work is transferrable to Christian Leadership University for credit toward a degree. The University is accessible from anywhere on the globe. This project is still in the developmental stage. A million hours of prayer annually for one cause, one purpose, the unreached, those who have never heard. Missionaries need prayer donors as much or more than they need dollar donors. Prayer can open the pocketbooks of revenue streams beyond the Christian community, it can tap un seen resources. As Prayer Coordinator for the Church of God, Doug resources the Million Hour Prayer Campaign. Pray for the unreached people groups that are a part of the Church of God mission focus. Daily prayer tips, monthly prayer support materials, weekly prayer calls are all available. Link: Help support our effort to train 70 National Leaders who will in turn train others. Imagine Prayer Trainers for nations! Each year, a handful of international prayer trainees come to the US for extensive training and return, trained and equipped to train pastors and laity in the area of prayer. PROJECT PRAY UNIVERSITY CLUB OF 70
NATIONAL FOOTPRINT The Prayer Trainer s Network The National Prayer Trainer s Network is a group of certified, prayer trainers who serve various church constituencies and congregations who enter a multi-year, prayer leadership training process created and designed by Project Pray. Senior trainers and Regional Trainers work with local congregations to provide training in the area of prayer ministry leadership. Link: projectpray. org/about/ministry/prayer-trainer-program. Prayerborne is a network of intercessors primarily from Church of God congregations. A pastor and intercessory prayer leader establishes a Prayerborne Chapter, and Prayerborne teams. Teams and members participate in Saturday Night Fire, the virtual prayer wall, adopt missionaries, and become active in the local congregation in prayer support. Link: National Prayer and Crisis Referral Line A 24-7 national prayer hotline with trained volunteers. Individuals receive extensive training. They learn to listen with compassion and assure the safety of the person calling. They share scripture and offer prayer. The caller is referred to a local church for follow-up. The ministry partners with this initiative. Link: www. prayerandcrisisreferral.org. One Cry Intercessor s Network is a network growing toward 1 Million intercessors who want to see a Great Awakening in the United States. Doug Small is a part of this effort, speaking at One Cry events, and serving as a part of the National Revival Symposium. Members of Prayerborne are connected to the One Cry effort as well. Link: Virtual Prayer Wall Form a Prayerborne Team and take an hour on the wall via phone. Rally a minimum of 3 from your team of 10 or so, for a hour of prayer for the nation, for unreached peoples, for revival and renewal. Numerous prayer focus areas are provided. Become a part of an unbroken chain of 24-7 prayer. Link: org/virtual-prayer-wall. Saturday Night Fire is a weekly prayer call for anyone interested in praying for revival in churches and awakening in the nation. Each Saturday, enjoy a different guest who shares a report, a principle or process, that moves us toward revival. Link: saturday-night-fire.
PRAYER COUNCILS Establish a Prayer Council in your city by connecting the prayer leaders of national prayer organizations and local church prayer coordinators. Turn prayer events into a process of prayer. Become a part of a national network. Link: CITY MINISTRIES PC 2 LN Establish a Prayer Leadership Network that launches a prayer-care-share strategy for your city, a decadal process aimed at mobilizing churches and laity to reach the city in a fresh way. This is more than congregational collaboration, this is a three-strand strategic effort, in which pastors (Ezras) and marketplace leaders (Nehemiahs) and intercessors (Esthers), each lead a process to engage every individual, every family, every business and entity in the city-county, in multiple ways, with the gospel. Link: CITY-VISION CALLS Here the stories of what God is doing in city-wide prayer movements in order to learn, to connect and to gain inspiration for what could happen in your city. The calls are twice a month. Great stories. Sponsored by Project Pray, One Cry, Cry Out America, Claude King of LifeWay Resources, the Church of God and Assemblies of God Prayer Ministries Office. Link: SALTY GROUPS Unwrapped in the Marketplace, these groups meet once weekly as triads or quads, quietly, under the radar, in workplace environments. SALTY is an acronym for S Supplicants who are Surrendered, Sensitive; A - Asking God for an Anointing to work, for Awareness of God s Presence, for Awakening in lives; L Laboring unto the Lord, doing whatever we do for the glory of God. Model employees who Love and Live the Christ-life as a Light; T Standing for truth and living by truth, being true to Christ, pray that God will Touch others, redeeming the Time; Y Yielding to the Holy Spirit, Yearning for a move of God at work, in your neighborhood, among your family and friends. Saying Yes whenever you can. PRAYER AND CRISIS REFERRAL LINE Launch a city-wide Prayer and Crisis Referral Line with trained prayer respondents. With this national ministry, you do not have to cover 24 hours. Your partner with cities and churches across the nation and modern technology allow calls to be directed to the prayer respondent on call that hour, and your community gets the referral. Partner with a national ministry that handles tensof-thousands of calls annually. Link: PRAYER LEADER CONTINUING EDUCATION Start a city prayer training group of pastors and prayer leaders who meet quarterly with a Certified Project Pray Prayer Trainer in a learning context aimed at churches who desire to become Houses of Prayer for the Nations. Link: projectpray.org/ about/ministry/prayer-trainerprogram.
