Hearing aid and cochlear implant wearers with a telecoil setting can hear the service broadcast directly through their hearing aids. Others desiring hearing assistance may check out a portable receiver and headset from an usher. Every Sunday morning you will find people of this church praying in the Chapel from 8:15 to 8:45 am before the start of the first morning service. 3 Talent Showcase Auditions Sunday, January 10 3:30-5:30 pm Sanctuary Our 3 rd Annual Talent Showcase will be held on February 17, 2016, which means it s time to prepare for auditions! The program running time is limited to 60 minutes, so items around five minutes long are preferable, with ten minutes being the maximum. Self-contained acts that include their own accompanist or do not need additional support are highly encouraged. These classes will provide time for us to get to know each other and move through the progression of membership commitments. Membership vows will be taken during worship on March 6. 4 Dear FUMC Family and Friends, On this date 2 years ago, we suddenly lost my loving, quick witted husband, Rev. Don Mosher. He had a massive heart attack while hauling wood for our West Goodland UMC parsonage in Imlay City. Our SPRC chairman came as soon as I called and proceeded to make all my calls for me. When Rev. Dr. Chuck Keyworth was reached, it turned out he was actually in our area. He, along with Della and David, sat with me until my son and daughter-in-law could make their 3 hour trip over. Blessings in the midst of great grief and pain. I can say that the first 18 months after Don s passing are pretty much a blur. Without the grace and steadiness of God, along with love, prayers and support of my family and friends, I would not have made it this far. While moving back to my hometown and my home church was the right thing to do, it hasn't been as easy as one might think. I have found the hardest place for me to be is in this church building. Not because of Don's beautiful funeral being held here, but because he is all over this building. Don was very active in this church in the years leading up to his call into the ministry. It will become more of a blessing as time goes on, but I am not there yet. I ask for your patience in letting me get there at my own pace. God has been with me, holding my hand thru this journey, and will continue to be at my side. A very special thank you to Rev. Dr. Keyworth for the wonderful funeral service for Don, and to Circle of Praise, and Katy Stokes for blessing us with their beautiful voices. Thanks also to the bereavement committee for the very delicious food served to family and friends in attendance. I would like to give a shout out to the pastors... Brent, Chuck, Susan, Jeremy, Pam, and Lisa...who were a very large influence on Don's walk with God. The encouragement and support you all shared while we were going through Don's call to the ministry cannot be measured or put into words. Weather permitting, I will be in Imlay City this weekend to be with some of my West Goodland friends. I not only lost a husband suddenly on this date, they lost their pastor. 6 Prayer Shawl Ministry Thursday, January 7 12:15 pm Hearth Room The Prayer Shawl Ministry makes shawls and lap robes which offer comfort to receivers. They symbolize caring and peace to those in pain, grief, isolation or illness, and also, joy and delight to those experiencing new beginnings. Often these are given by our ministerial and visitation staff but they are available for anyone to give. Stop in the church office to select a shawl to share with a friend, church member, or anyone else in need of comfort. Help them feel surrounded by the presence of God and the knowledge that they are not alone in their journey. The group meets on the first Thursday of each month at 12:15 pm. Yarn, needles, and patterns are available during this time of sharing and fellowship. New members are always welcome to join this outreach ministry, which is part of the United Methodist Women. Do you know of anyone who has had a recent hospitalization or who is having a difficult time? Our FUMC Member Care committee wants to serve our members in times of need. We have many member volunteers who would love to bring a tailored hot meal to help ease their burden or time of transition.
