Tucker Prime Chimers - Ellen Woodard, director *CALL TO WORSHIP All: We gather together to remember, to once again tell the wonderful stories of our God - stories we have heard many times before, and passed down from generation to generation. Stories of faithfulness and love, of mercy and compassion, of miracles and new life. We tell these stories over and over so that we don t forget. We tell these stories to remember who we are: people of God. We tell these stories so that our children and our children s children can also come to know and love the God we serve. 5 Midland F ir st United Methodist C hur ch W A Volume 46, Issue 11 March 17, 2019 United Methodist Women Celebrate 150th Birthday March Campaign: Women Helping Women United Methodist Women invite you to join our "Women Helping Women" campaign throughout the month of March leading up to our 150th Birthday Celebration on March 24. We will collect personal hygiene items in a large box labelled "Women Helping Women" on the window ledge near the church office. On March 24, between services in Fellowship Hall, please join us to celebrate the United Methodist Women s 150th Birthday. We will serve birthday cake and beverages and you can learn more about the history and legacy of UMW. We will also share FUMC United Methodist Women local, state, and national mission initiatives. Save the Date: May 5 The annual John & Hazel Currie Memorial Concert will take place Sunday, May 5 at our church. Josh Wilson will be the featured artist with special guest Dave Mead. Admission is free and seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Here are some newer items: Tiny Homes In a Big City by Faith Fowler: This is the story of Cass Community Social Services, a Detroit-based nonprofit that is in the process of building a neighborhood of 25 different Tiny Homes in the northwest part of Detroit. The homes are being built to allow extremely low-income individuals a way to eventually own their own homes. This is the only rent-then-own tiny home development in the U.S. Recapturing the Wesleys' Vision - An Introduction to the Faith of John and Charles Wesley by Paul Wesley Chilcote: Here is a full and clear introduction to the dynamic faith of John and Charles Wesley. The vital theology of John is skillfully gleaned from his voluminous writings. The corresponding faith of Charles is culled from his enduring hymns. Pockets Magazine: This is a monthly devotional magazine for children ages 6-12, published by The Upper Room. There are many issues available in a rack by the library door. The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris: This beautiful, illuminating tale of hope and courage is based on interviews that were conducted with Holocaust survivor and Auschwitz-Birkenau tattooist Ludwig (Lale) Sokolov. Buck Denver Asks...What's in the Bible? Children's DVD series: From VeggieTales creator, Phil Vischer, this 13 volume video series is a hilarious and groundbreaking new way to help your children learn about God, the Bible, and faith.
