1 Experience Equip Evangelize Edify THE HERALD Hillcrest Baptist Church 2200 Iverson St. Temple Hills, MD (301) April 2018
2 Dear Beloved Congregation, This year marks my fifth year as your pastor at Hillcrest Baptist Church. As I reflect back over the years, I remember how welcoming everyone was. I recall all of the various church events we have experienced together, and the heartfelt conversations. As a congregation and as individuals, you have graciously bestowed upon my family and I a multitude of blessings. You mean more to us than I can ever express. I am exceedingly grateful to God for placing us here at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Today, I am simply writing to say thank you for your support, prayers and Christ-like spirit. You are such a wonderful congregation and it has been a blessing to be your pastor. I am continually blown away by your compassion and generosity. It has been both a privilege and honor to serve as your pastor these past five years. By the grace of God, I look forward to many more years with you. With Sincere Gratitude, Pastor Pearson
3 Congratulations Pastor W. Clyde Pearson, Lady Amelia Pearson and Eboni Congratulations on your 5 th Anniversary as our Pastor. God truly has blessed us as you faithfully serve in His steps through your limitless acts of caring, giving, and sharing for the Hillcrest Baptist Church family and community. As a vessel for Christ, you have taught us the Word of God through your puissant teachings, but most importantly, by displaying Christ s love in everything that you do. Thank you Lady Amelia for complimenting Pastor Pearson s leadership with the Women s Ministry and your exemplary prayer life. May God continue to richly bless you and your family. With the deepest love and respect, Your Hillcrest Baptist Church Family

DO YOU HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST? If you believe in your heart that Jesus Is Lord, the Christ, the Savior, the Son of the Living God, and you are willing to turn from sin to God, then receive Jesus Christ now by faith and pray this prayer: Oh, God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died on the cross for me. I believe His shed blood paid the price for my sin, and that His death, burial, and resurrection were all for me. I now receive Him as my personal Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and for the gifts of salvation and eternal life. In Jesus name I pray, amen. Take God at His Word and claim His gift of salvation. Remember, it s God who does the saving not your good works, not your family pedigree, and not your church. Believe and you will be saved. 6 WOMEN S MINISTRY DRESS FOR SUCCESS And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan s sake? 2 Samuel 9:1 Meet Carol, Roberta, and Sue. These ladies donate their time and energy to the Dress For Success organization, helping women prepare and professionally dress for the workplace. It was heartwarming to hear them talk about the women they help and how different a women feels when she walks in the door compared to when she walks out because of the generosity of others. They said the women are astonished when they find out that they can keep the clothes and accessories at no cost. They could imagine their surprise when they see Hillcrest s donations. Sue, Carol and Roberta said they have never receive clothes and accessories packaged and delivered so nicely. They were so appreciative and delighted at the way the outfits were put together!! It was an amazing experience to show others the Greatness of our God!!!! Paint & Fellowship With paint brushes in hand, the Sisters delicately applied paint strokes to canvas to create a genuine masterpiece. With assistance from our paint instructor, DeShanna McGee, we attempted to recreate the ministry logo design on canvas. Some succeeded and others elected to paint outside the box. All in all, a good time was had by all.

8 CHILDREN & YOUTH Snow Tubing On February 24 th the youth embarked on an adventure to Pennsylvania, filled with fun and excitement. They allowed some of the adults to tag along; Brother Tyrone and Sister Tina Collington, Sister Amelia Pearson, Sister Yatana and Deacon Walker, Sister Sandra and Brother Frank Richardson, Sister Donna Hayman and her sister Ann, Sister Calitta Hawkins, and our trusted bus driver, Brother Hubert Stackhouse. We were all ready and prepared for the two hour journey, with great anticipation, we headed for Liberty Ski Resort. The excitement amplified upon entering Liberty s parking lot. However, the excitement quickly subsided when we found out all snow tubing lanes were closed for the day. Of course the kids were wondering, what do we do now, and so were most of the adults! But it was Sister Tina to the rescue! She went inside the ski resort lobby and when she came back to the bus, she had an alternate plan and snow tubing was still on. We arrived at Round Top Ski Resort an hour later. We had so much fun on the bus ride there as Brother Stackhouse maneuvered the bus up and down hilly roads and around curves. When we arrived, the temperature was a perfect 35 degrees and it was drizzling rain. Within 20 minutes of our arrival the rain stopped and the fun really began. We went up a ramp to get to the top of the snow tubing hill. We anxiously waited our turn, sat in our snow tub and as the attendant gave a little tug, off we flew down a steep hill screaming and laughing all the way down. What a thrill!! When we reached the bottom, we jumped out of our snow tubs and started the process all over again. After we finished tubing, we ate, and sat by an open fire pit for one more hour. Then it was time to head for home. What a wondrous time we had!! We learned that even when we are forced to take a detour, do not get discouraged trust the process increase your faith and watch God Work it out. Now faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

17 The book-at-a-time Bible reading plan provides two readings for each day. The first reading alternates between Old and New Testament books, giving you three or four chapters a day. The Gospels are spread throughout the year. The second reading takes you through a chapter or so of the wisdom literature and Isaiah. Combined, these readings will take you through the entire Bible in one year. To prevent the frustration of falling behind and to provide some reflection time, each month consists of only 25 readings. You ll have several days each month to meditate more deeply on something that was significant to you in the past week, to catch up on missed readings, or to revisit favorite passages.
