4 Next Steps Psalm 103:10-14 "He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust." Ephesians 3:18-19 (NLT Study Bible Text,) And may you have the power to understand, as all God s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. What action has been deemed unforgivable in your mind? Where are you struggling to forgive a person because of the way they've wronged you? Ask God to give you the ability to look past a wrongful action to the heart of the person so that you might have compassion and offer forgiveness. Spend time in His presence removing yourself from the seat of judgment so that you can offer grace and forgiveness. Read Colossians 3:13-15 Showing compassion for the wrongful actions of another is not easy, but it is necessary. If we are to live a lifestyle of continual forgiveness the way God commands, we must look to heart of the person and receive God's compassion rather than taking up the seat of judgment. If we are to love one another as God has loved us, we must value relationship over worldly justice and give grace where none is deserved. May we obtain access to the heart of our heavenly Father today as we seek to love as He loves. May we be filled with compassion for others after reflection on the overwhelming grace we've been shown. And may we be filled with courage and strength to reach past a wrongful action and forgive the person from our hearts. When we offer forgiveness where none is deserved, we are placing our hope for justice and reconciliation in God rather than ourselves. When we offer mercy we look to heaven for all things to be set right and renewed rather than looking to this fallen and folly-filled world. There is no perfection in this world. There is nothing we can do to completely rid this world of its inherent depravity. So we must look to our heavenly Father to work and heal as He wills and follow in his footsteps. We must carry an atmosphere of grace so that heaven can meet earth through our lives and draw people into the fold of God. May we have the strength and perspective to place our hope in heaven and offer mercy, compassion, and forgiveness to the wrongful, destitute, and proud. 5 Happenings at New Cov Family Night, August 24, 6:30-7:30 PM Join us for Family Night as we kick off the school year, embracing community and uniting families. This semester we are emphasizing unconditional love in our homes. CREW Registration Now Open, CREW begins August 31CREW is an interactive program for kindergarten-fifth grade. Discover New Cov Class, August 28, 12:30-2:30PM This class is offered Sunday afternoon from 12:30-2:30PM. Come meet our staff and learn more about what New Cov believes. Group Connect, August 28, 7:00PM There is no better way to grow your relationship with Christ than in a small group. Group Connect is the easiest way to get connected. You will be able to meet group leaders and ask questions before you decide to join or not. You will also be able to meet others who are looking for a group. Dessert will be provided. New Bible Study, Children of the Day by Beth Moore This Beth Moore study begins Tuesday morning August 30, 11:30AM- 1:00PM. During this nine week study you ll learn how to let go of past mistakes and discover your circumstances are not coincidental-god s timing is impeccable! Register for the study in the Gathering Space or online at newcovchurch.org/womens-bible-studies. Participant guides will be available to purchase for $15 at the first meeting. Student Ministry Small Groups begin Wednesday August 31 Middle School Explosion: All 6th-8th grade students are welcome to join us for games and small group time from 6:30-8:00PM in the Flipside. High School small groups meet from 7:00-8:30PM in the Flipside. Job Opening for Assistant to Children s Ministry Job is for approximately 9 hours a week which will include working 2 hours on Sunday every other week. 6 Happenings at New Cov (Continued) *** Jesus and New Cov in 2016 New Covenant has been invited to send a team of volunteers to Ireland to assist some friends, make a living, breathing relationship with Christ available to people who would never access it. The team must raise its own funds so they will be asking you to be their prayer partners and consider joining them financially in making Jesus known. If you would like to give, please note **** Mission Trip in the memo of your check. Holy Yoga Every Tuesday Evening, 6:30PM Come join us as we study how to Seek God s Heart while doing yoga. A person needs to know the heart and the character of God in order to follow His will. Come and dig into seeking His heart through our yoga practice. We meet in the Discoveryland Gathering Space. Park behind church and enter through lower east doors. Cost is a freewill donation. Financial Peace University, September 18, 9:30 AM Financial Peace University (FPU) is a 9 lesson, money-management course taught by America s most trusted financial guru, Dave Ramsey. Dave and his teaching team will walk you through the basics of budgeting, dumping debt, planning for the future and much more. Sign up online at newcovchurch.org/fpu2016.
