4 4 #1 Matthew 5:3-11 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. #2 Remember Me In Quiet Days Remember me in quiet days, while raindrops whisper on your pane. Remember in your memories have no grief, let the joy we knew remain. Remember me if once you wake, to catch a glimpse of red sunrise. Remember when your thoughts do turn to me, know that I would not have you cry, but live for me, and laugh for me. When you are happy so am I. Remember an old joke we shared. Remember me when spring walks by. Think once of me when you are glad And while you live, I shall not die!

5 #3 Prayer to St. Jude Most holy apostle, St. Jude, friend of Jesus, I place myself in your care at this difficult time. Pray for me. Help me know that I need not face my troubles alone. Please join me in my need, asking God to send me consolation in my sorrow, courage in my fear, and healing in the midst of my suffering. Ask our loving God to fill me with the grace to accept whatever may lie ahead for me and my loved ones, and to strengthen my faith in God s healing power. Thank you St. Jude, for the promise of hope you hold out to all who believe, and inspire me to give this gift of hope to others, as it has been given to me. Amen. 5 #4 Memorare Prayer Remember, O Most Gracious Virgin, Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother! To thee I come. Before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful, O Mother of the word incarnate! Despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

We pray that God has given you the crown you ve truly won. #6 Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. 8 8 #10 Safely Home I am home in heaven, dear ones, Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed. I am now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last. There is still work waiting for you, so you must not idly stand. Do it now, while life remaineth, you shall rest in God s own land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you home. Ah, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come! #11 Resurrection Most merciful Father, we commend our departed into your hands. We are filled with the sure hope that our departed will rise again on the Last Day with all who have died in Christ. We thank you for all the good things you have given during our departed s earthly life. O Father, in your great mercy, accept our prayer that the Gates of Paradise may be opened for your servant. In our turn, may we too be comforted by the words of faith until we greet Christ in glory and are united with you and our departed. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

9 #12 For Every Burden For every burden that we bear, for every sorrow, every care, there s a reason. For every grief that bows the head, for every teardrop that is shed, there s a reason. For every hurt, for every plight, for every lonely pain-racked night, there s a reason. But if we trust God, as we should, all must work out for our good. He knows the reason. 9 #13 Remember Me To the living I am gone, and to the sad I will never return. To the happy I am at peace and to the angry I was cheated. But to the faithful, I have never left. I cannot speak, but I can listen. I cannot be seen, but my presence can be felt. I can no longer lead, but I can walk beside you. So as you stand gazing at a beautiful sunset or the moon in its endless sky, REMEMBER ME. As you look in wonder at the colors of a rose or listen to the song of a bird, REMEMBER ME. REMEMBER ME in your heart, your thoughts and in your memories. Remember the times we loved and the times we fought, the times we laughed and the times we cried, the times we teased and the times we shared. For if you think of me, I will not have died. I have only gone with Jesus.

10 10 #14 Footprints One night I had a dream. I was walking along the beach with the Lord and across the sky flashed scenes from my life. In each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonged to me, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the worst times in my life. This really bothered me and I questioned thelord about it. LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way. But I ve noticed that during times of trouble there is only one set of footprints. I don t understand why, when I needed you most, you would leave me. The LORD replied, My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

11 #15 No Time There s no time for sad remembrances, because I m home where I belong. I ve conquered all my battles. I ve even heard the trumpet s song. I ve climbed my highest mountain and I ve reached an even peak and I ve found that peace and true reward that you have yet to seek. There s no time for sad remembrances, for you have a precious life. So find comfort in my journey. Please don t bear this pain and strife. Oh! My Father s house is perfect, just like he said it would be. So dry your tears and smile for me, because I m home and now I m free. I am part of all the beauty that your world has yet to see. So don t be sad about my journey, just be glad that I am free! 11 #16 Angels Are Hard to Find When God calls little children to dwell with Him above, we mortals always question the wisdom of His love. For no heartache compares with the death of one small child who does so much to make this world seem wonderful and mild.perhaps God tires always calling the aged to His fold, and so He picks a rosebud before it can grow old. God knows how much we need them, so He takes but few to make the land of heaven more beautiful to view. Believing this is difficult, still somehow we must try. The saddest word that mankind knows will always be goodbye. And so when little ones depart we who are left behind must realize how much God loves little children for angels are hard to find.

12 12 #17 They Say They say memories are golden, well, maybe that is true. I never wanted memories, I only wanted you. A million times I needed you, a million times I cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life I loved you dearly. In death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place, no one could ever fill. If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane, I d walk the path to heaven and bring you back again. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. #18 John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but, that through him, the world might be saved. #19 Irish Blessing May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

You musn t tie yourself to me with tears. Just be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love, you can only guess, how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it s time I traveled alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It s only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. I won t be far away, for life goes on, so if you need me, call, and I will come. Though you can t see, or touch, I ll be near. And if you listen with your heart, you ll hear all of my love around you, soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I ll greet you with a smile, and say Welcome Home.

16 16 #27 Said a prayer For You Today I said a prayer for you today and I know God must have heard. I felt the answer in my heart, although He spoke no word. I didn t ask for wealth or fame. I knew you wouldn t mind. I asked Him to send treasures of a far more lasting kind. I asked that He d be near you, at the start of each new day, to grant you health and blessings and friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you in all things, great and small. But it was for His loving care, I prayed the most of all. #28 O Gentlest Heart of Jesus O gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love, for the poor captive souls in Purgatory. Have mercy on the soul of Thy departed servant. Be not severe in Thy judgment, but let some drops of Thy precious blood fall upon the devouring flames and, do Thou O merciful Savior, send Thy angels to conduct Thy departed servant to a place of refreshment, light, and peace. May the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

17 #29 When I Must Leave You When I must leave you For a little while- Please do not grieve And shed wild tears And hug your sorrow to you Through the years, But start out bravely With a gallant smile; And for my sake and in my name live on and do all things the same, Feed not your loneliness On empty days, But fill each waking hour In useful ways, Reach out your hand In comfort and in cheer And I in turn will comfort you And hold you near; And never, never Be afraid to die, For I am waiting for you in the sky! 17 #30 I Am Free Don t grieve for me, for now I m free to follow the path God made for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to love, to laugh, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, for I found peace at last, that day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembering joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with hearts of sorrow. My wish for you is the hope of tomorrow. My life s been full, I ve savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one s touch. Perhaps my time seemed much too brief, don t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wants me now --- He s set me free.

18 18 #31 Togetherness Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. Whatever we were to each other, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the same easy way you always have. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it always was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past. Nothing has been lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. Only better, infinitely happier. We will be one, together, forever. #32 John 14:1-6 Let not your hearts be troubled. Ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father s house are many mansions.
