24 Prayers 23rd Psalm (traditional) The Twenty-Third Psalm The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen Poems A Fallen Limb A Fallen Limb A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the songs The good of my life I lived while still strong. Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you. Keep smiling, and surely, The sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest, Remembering all... how I was truly blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small, Go on with your life, Don't just stare at the wall. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die... A Special Angel A Special Angel There's a special angel in Heaven That is a part of me. It is not where I wanted her, But where God wanted her to be. She was here just a moment, Like a night time shooting star. And though she is in Heaven She isn't very far. She touched the hearts of many, Like only an angel can do. I would've held her every minute, If the end I only knew. So I send this special message To Heaven up above. Please take care of my angel, And send her all my love. A True Fisherman A True Fisherman A true fisherman knows when and where the fish are biting He rises up early in the morning, plying the water for that elusive catch, waiting in the stillness for a nibble A slight twitch in the line, expertly he reels it in- A good fisherman knows a keeper when he sees one, he knows when to toss one back, and when to head for home. Afterglow I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun Of happy memories that I leave When life is done. Child at Rest Child at Rest God needed an angel in Heaven To stand at the Savior's feet; His choice must be the rarest A lily pure and sweet. He gazed upon the mighty throng Then stopped and picked the best,

28 Our child was His chosen one With Jesus, our child is now at rest. Daddy's Love Daddy's Love I felt his love in many ways, He was there through all my days. His strong hands with a gentle touch, Through the years taught me so much. Showed me right when I'd done wrong, With understanding he made me strong. Daddy always knew what to do, No matter what you were going through. His love for me was full of pride, His arms were always open wide. Daddy's love always sheltered me, His love also set me free. When I made the wrong choice, Love was still in Daddy's voice. The words from his heart were true, When he said I'm proud of you. Daddy's love will always be, A very important part of me! Footprints One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; One belonged to him, and the other to the LORD When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. "LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you the most you would leave me." The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you." Forever Remembering Forever Remembering Just one more Hi, Just one more good-bye, Just one more moment, Just one more second. Just one more hug, Just one more tug, Just one more kiss, Just one more miss. Just one more flower, Just one more hour, Just one more dance, Just one more chance. 29 So He put His arms around you and whispered, "Come with Me." With tearful eyes, we watched you slowly fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we would not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, your hard-working hands put to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. God Has Set Me Free God Has Set Me Free Don't hold me in your sorrow, Don't shed those tears for me, I've found my heavenly tomorrow, God has set me free. I'm in a better place, I walk the streets of gold. I'm sheltered by God's grace. I have His hand to hold. You never have to worry, I have everything I need. God made me happy, When my soul was freed. And when your days are over, We'll surely meet again, We'll share our love and laughter, When you get to heaven. Gone Yet Not Forgotten Gone yet not forgotten, Although we are apart, Your spirit lives within me, Forever in my heart. Hold a Place in My Heart In life I loved you dearly, In death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place No one could ever fill. Honored Honored among the nation's heroes lies our loved one; Beneath a simple wooden cross, his crown; And we who knew and loved him here, can say: A simple love, a simple trust, a simple duty done. Stars and Stripes Stars and Stripes The Stars and Stripes, they flew forever always in his heart. He was loyal to his nation and bravely did his part. Always thinking of his brother ever in his mind. He stood for love of country and most of all mankind. Now gazing down with his Master through a light and heavenly cloud, He's still looking out for us of whom he is so proud. While We Are Apart While We Are Apart Distance may separate us But my heart will never let you go, For I carry a part of you with me always. It keeps me going through the day. It brings a smile to my face and tears to my eyes. It is a part of my dreams that I live for and cherish. That part is my wish, my only one, To see you again soon. I know that wish will someday come true. But for now, I will hold in my heart The memory of you And never let you go.
