Congratulations and thank you for your spiritual leadership and guidance as our shepherd at St. Rose School and Parish! We love and are very proud of you! May God continue to bless and keep you in His Care! Book Fair time in the library begins Monday! It s a great opportunity to stock up on books for summer reading! Maybe there s a gift for our pastor and teachers to read too on the break. We encourage students to read 20 minutes a day year round! The 4K went to the Jersey Barnyard Wednesday and this morning the Kindergarten left to Victoria for a visit to the zoo. Field trips are excellent educational opportunities in an off campus learning environment. One of the benefits at St. Rose School is 2 field trips each year per class. Progress reports went out Wednesday and another reminder only 5 weeks of school left before summer. The cool weather may fool us summer if further away but time is passing quickly. Continue to encourage your children to study and work hard to finish the school year strong with good grades! Here at St. Rose School we have a lot of excellent programs and activities and wonderful staff, students, and parents! It s a great place to be! We are excited for some of our second graders receiving their First Holy Communion tomorrow at High Hill and the class next Saturday at St. Rose! State PSIA is the 28th also and we wish all these students well in their upcoming events! Earth Day From poisoning and injuring marine life to disrupting human hormones, from littering our beaches and landscapes to clogging our waste streams and landfills, the exponential growth of plastics is now threatening the survival of our planet. The 2018 national campaign focuses on fundamentally changing human attitude and behavior about plastics and catalyzing a significant reduction in plastic pollution. It supports the adoption of a global framework to regulate plastic pollution through education and action from governments and corporations; encourages citizens to take personal responsibility for plastic pollution generated and to recycle; asks journalists across the globe to report on the problem and its solutions. Sunday, April 22 is Earth Day which reminds us to protect our planet and living things. Global Climate Change A Plea for Dialogue, Prudence, and the Common Good by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, says in part, The dialogue and our response to the challenge of climate change must be rooted in the virtue of prudence. While some uncertainty remains, most experts agree something significant is happening in the atmosphere. Pope Benedict XVI expressed A greater sense of intergenerational solidarity is urgently needed. Pope Francis I reflects St. Francis example of live simply, loving and caring for all of God s creatures and nature. Future generations cannot be saddled with the cost of our use of common environmental resources. We cannot refuse to interest ourselves in those who will come after us. This is a responsibility present generations have towards those of the future. Natural resources should be used in such a way that immediate benefits do not have a negative impact on living creatures, human and not, present and future. Traditional Catholic teaching tells us our faith calls us to live more simply, thoughtfully, and considerately. The Word of God tells us we are but sojourners here, with no permanent ownership of the land (Lev.25:23). We re called to be good stewards of God s creation. In the words of Saint John Paul II: It is not too late. God s world has incredible healing powers. Within a single generation we could steer the earth toward our children s future. Let that generation start now, with God s help and blessing. Let s all be Responsible, Respectful and Peaceful as we Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse! Have a great weekend! OPEN Mon, April 23 to Thurs, April 25 M-W 7:30-12:30 Thur 7:30-3:30 We appreciate Haley Olsovsky volunteering her time and efforts to provide After School Tutoring for our students this past year as part of her National Honor Society program. The faculty & staff were treated to lunch on Wednesday courtesy of the following 2nd grade families: Ballard, Besetzny, Guentert, Schramek, Smith, Bujnoch, Seger, Shank, & Taylor. We wish well our students who are preparing to participate at the State Meet in Fort Worth next weekend: Brysen Brown, Claire Antosh, Kenny Schramek, Mackenzie Kunschick, Madison Kunschick, Mallory Bonner, Marcus Seger, Mary Beth Krischke, Mason Kunschick, Meredith Magliolo, Miranda Bonner, Morgan Steinhauser & Reagan Dusek.
