Letter from the President Dear Friend, Charis Bible College is a modern-day miracle. On June 23, 1993, I clearly heard from the Lord to start a Bible college. There couldn t have been anything further from my mind, but God downloaded a revolutionary way to do it. I was to take 2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also and use it as a framework for a school that would do more than just impart biblical knowledge. This school would also provide practical, on-the-job training to prepare students for their next step. The truth is, everyone goes through school. It s just a matter of whether it s a safe environment with experienced instructors and mentors or what s called the school of hard knocks. I took the latter route. And I tell you, if you survive, it makes a great testimony. But you re not guaranteed success that way. Most people die with unrealized potential. That doesn t have to be you. You don t have to settle for whatever comes your way. You can lay a sure foundation through Charis Bible College, where instructors with decades of experience equip you to succeed. For over twenty years, Charis has been training and empowering people to do what they were born for. And if you don t know what you were born for, you will by the time you graduate. More importantly, you ll be prepared to step into it. This is an investment you won t regret. In fact, it s a small price to pay! If the Lord is speaking to you about attending Charis, visit our website for more information. I guarantee it will change your life and the lives of others forever. Remember, preparation time is never wasted time. Andrew Wommack 1

Charis Bible College of Colorado DOCTRINAL STATEMENT The Scriptures We believe that all of Scripture (both the Old and New Testament) is verbally inspired by God and is our final authority in all matters pertaining to doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness (II Tim. 3:16, 17). God We believe in only one true God; One in essence, nature, and attributes, but existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (I Jn. 5:7). Jesus Christ We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, of His shed blood on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins, of His bodily resurrection and ascension to the Father s right hand. We do not believe that He is simply a way to the Father, but rather the only way through which we can receive righteousness, regeneration, sanctification, and glorification. He is, in fact, our salvation (I Cor. 1:30-31). Holy Spirit We believe in the baptism with the Holy Spirit, expressed with speaking in tongues according to Acts 1:8; 2:4; 9:17; 10:44-46; 11:15, 16; and 19:6. We believe this experience is distinct from, and subsequent to, the new birth, and can be received by faith (Gal. 3:2). Salvation We believe that all who, in repentance and faith, receive the Lord Jesus as Savior and Lord are born again (Acts 20:20-21; Rom. 10:9-13). Healing We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross has provided healing for the human body (Mt. 8:16, 17; Isa. 53:4; I Pet. 2:24). The Resurrection We believe in the resurrection of the just and the unjust; one to everlasting life and one to everlasting damnation (Mt. 25:46). The Second Coming We believe in a literal, physical second return of the Lord Jesus Christ (I Th. 1:10; 4:16-17). The Church We believe that the universal church is comprised of all true believers who have received salvation through Christ (Eph. 1:22-23). We also believe in and encourage fellowship with a local church (Heb. 10:25). Gifts of the Spirit We believe that spiritual gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit are for the common good and building up of others today (I Cor. 12:7). 2

Course Summary First Year Foundational Teaching and Ministry Program Before the practical aspects of ministry can be explored, it is very important that each student has a firm foundation in the Word of God. This includes: the understanding of God s unconditional love, the balance between grace and faith, relationship with God, godly character, the basics of righteousness, the Holy Spirit, prosperity, Bible covenants, keys to personal growth, life vision, and much more. Second Year Advanced Instruction and Practical Training Program In the second year, the emphasis moves to practical ministry. In small interaction groups, students learn to do the work of the ministry. They conduct weddings, funerals, and baby dedications. They learn to prepare and deliver messages, plan and promote conferences, run children s church, and more. Second-year students are also required to take one foreign missions trip. Although they do not pay for the trip directly, it becomes a practical training opportunity for them to raise money for ministry projects. Students remember these trips as life-changing events and the highlight of their college experience. Important elective classes are also available to second-year students. Examples include: counseling and life guidelines, family, church planting, church history, church government, and others. Third Year Ministry Training Program The Third Year Ministry Training Program is designed to help Charis Bible College graduates identify and be equipped in their calling of either Business, Media, Ministry, Missions or Worship Arts. CBC graduates choose a school of study and are also offered more sound, biblical classes that further their walk with Christ. Many of our campuses offer a Third Year Program where students apply for an internship at the school, but the Business, Creative Arts, Media, Ministry, Missions, Practical Government or Worship Arts schools are exclusive to the Woodland Park, Colorado campus. 6

Course Title Instructor Course Description A Sure Foundation Andrew Wommack Two subjects are covered in this class. The Integrity of the Word expounds on the truth, surety, and infallibility of God s Word. Christian Philosophy shows us that we all have a system of thought, but challenges us to examine if it is according to the Word or the world. Basic Bible Doctrines Lawson Perdue Bible doctrine will be covered in this course. Subjects include The Scriptures Inspired, One True God and The Trinity, The Deity of Jesus Christ, The Fall and Salvation of Man, The Present-Day Ministry of the Holy Spirit, Divine Healing, The Return of Jesus Christ for His Church, and Heaven & Hell. Basics of Righteousness Andrew Wommack This class teaches about our Spirit, Soul, and Body and Identity in Christ. Spirit, Soul, and Body is a study that explains how our spirits are complete in Jesus if we are born again and how our souls and bodies should relate to our spirits. The Identity in Christ study shows us from Scripture who we are in Christ our righteousness and justification. Bible Covenants Lawson Perdue The purpose of this study is to learn about the nature of God as revealed in the covenants He has made with men, in order to develop our faith in God as a way of life today. 12 Dynamics of Christian Living I-III Various These class hours cover Praise and Worship, Chapel services, guest speakers, seminars, workshops, and conferences that are required attendance for students. They cover various topics of Christian living, testimonies, practical application of the Word of God in our daily lives. Elective Students can select a course of their choice for classes on topics including New Covenant Prayer, Prophetic Activation, Lifestyle of Worship and more. Lifestyle of Worship New Covenant Prayer Worship is a lifestyle, not a musical style! Did you know unbelievers worship? Do you feel like a non-musical person and that worship is for the musical people? You will be set free as you learn that worship comes from who we are, not what you do. It is a response, to God s incredible love and grace. That translates into a lifestyle that will bring transformation to you; from the innermost to the outermost. Learn how to draw near with a true heart! Learn how to be a voice! Communicating with God is a major part of our relationship with Him. This course is about what prayer can be like in light of the New Covenant. Topics include friendship with God, worship, hearing His voice, praying for others, and doing what we see the Father do. There will be a focus on scriptural examples and practical application. No More Lies; Keys to a Free Abundant Life God's design for your life is one of power and purpose, yet many men and women wonder why they do not experience the overcoming power of God in their lives on a daily basis. Subtle and often overlooked lies from the enemy that hinder victory will be identified and addressed with transparency and candor in this course. Through this journey of powerful biblical truth, you will find a deeper revelation of the father heart of God for you, freeing you to walk more boldly in the Kingdom destiny for which you were created. Prophetic Activation I These hands on practical activation classes are all about developing the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how to hear God's voice in a clearer and more defined way. They will give you a greater understanding of how God speaks to you individually, corporately and how to get activated in prophecy, words of knowledge, words of wisdom and the gift of the discerning of spirits. These classes will jumpstart you into living a powerful kingdom prophetic lifestyle and give you the confidence to minister in any situation. Time Management and Priorities This course focuses on learning to identify the priorities and the season you re in, so to manage your time and life to fulfill the call of God. Learn practical skills on using time more effectively and intentionally. 9

Essential Truths of the New Testament Arthur Meintjes There are many truths in the Bible, but not all the truths in the Bible are essential and foundational. That means that there are many things in the Bible that are extremely interesting but they are not extremely important. There are also many truths that are important, sometimes even extremely valuable, but they are not essential. The big tragedy is that many times the truths that Christians major on, and build their lives upon, are non-essential or non-foundational truths. It will not necessarily be what you believe about healing or prosperity that will determine whether you will fall or stand when you re sick, or when you re in poverty. It will most probably be what you believe about the essential and foundational truth of the Gospel, because all other truths must be based and founded on this truth in order to work. Excellence in Ministry Greg Mohr This course covers two key aspects of ministry development and success: 1) Identifying and establishing core values your life and ministry are grounded in. Compromise, deception and failure are averted when core values are established in the heart of the minister. 2) The essential leadership principles necessary for the minister to both lead people to fulfill his/her vision and become a leader worth following. Finally, My Brethren Delron Shirley This insightful study through the first five and a half chapters of Ephesians will cover the foundational steps that Apostle Paul laid out before his often-quoted statements about putting on the spiritual armor. This course will enlighten new scriptural truths and empower you to become more than a conqueror in spiritual conflict. Fruit of the Spirit Greg Mohr God s very first words to man connects our success in life to our fruitfulness. Gen. 1:28. The kind of fruit each believer is called to produce is described in Gal. 5: This is a picture of the life and nature of Jesus. This course is an in-depth study of each aspect of the fruit of the Spirit. You will learn the purpose, the rewards, and the means to fully develop and manifest the fruit of the Spirit in your life and ministry. Galatians Barry Bennett Paul s inspired letter which is often referred to as the Magna Carta of Christian liberty is reviewed and studied in terms of its great themes: grace, revelation, our identity in Christ, faith, the Law vs. the blessing of Abraham, and life in the Spirit. 10

Healing Barry Bennett The Christian life includes physical health for all who believe. It is as much God s will that we be physically whole as it is that we be born again. Before anyone can have faith for healing, they must be certain of God s will. Faith cannot go beyond the knowledge of God s will and God s ways in the area of health and healing. This course will establish principles for health and healing and will explain healing in terms of the spirit, soul and body of man. We will learn what is required of us as faith filled Christians, and what is God s part in the process of receiving health in our bodies. Holy Spirit I-III Wendell Parr This is an exciting class that discusses the Person and the work of the Holy Spirit. Not only will you learn how He has worked throughout history, but how He works in your life. How to Get Revelation Greg Mohr & Barry Bennett This course will prepare you to get revelation directly from the Word. It will include hands-on practice in small groups. In Christ Realities Lawson Perdue A course designed to give us an understanding of our new identity in Christ, the value of our identity in Christ, and how that identity helps us fulfill the purpose and plan of God in our lives. Introduction to Evangelism Steve Bartlett The goal of this course is to help Christians see just how easy it is to share their faith with the lost. God s greatest revelations to mankind and how these can be used to inspire faith are introduced, as well as, how to share your personal testimony. We will also provide an introduction to disciplemaking, how to answer tough questions as well as the attitude of a soul winner. This course will help you prepare for the joy of leading people to Christ. Introduction to the Bible Barry Bennett A course designed to inspire confidence in the Bible as the Living Word of God by understanding its 1) revelation, 2) inspiration, 3) compilation, and 4) preservation. Let Freedom Reign Arthur Meintjes When we talk about freedom, it means different things to different people. For the majority of believers, freedom in a Christian s life is only achieved through great sacrifice and hard work. When we have sacrificed and labored long and hard enough, we are ultimately rewarded with freedom; freedom from sin or freedom from bondage such as from drugs, alcohol, pornography or whatever we perceive freedom to be. In this teaching we will discover that freedom in the New Testament is a gift. Whenever you study the subject of freedom, as seen in the New Testament, there is a fundamental reality that we must understand about true freedom; in Christ we are all born free. 11

Life Foundations Carrie Pickett In the Life Foundations course, you will learn 6 key foundational truths that will revolutionize your relationship with God, empower you to overcome every attack of the enemy, and give you the ability to minister to anyone, at any time about anything. The most important part of a structure is its foundation. These truths will help you establish a firm foundation in the Word of God. Ministry of Jesus I & II Barry Bennett An overview of the culture and context of Jesus life and ministry that will deal with His manner of teaching, the content of His teaching and His declarations about Himself, His relationship with the Father, the Word, the devil, sin, faith, prayer and the Holy Spirit. Old Testament Survey I-VI Wendell Parr This is an overview of the Old Testament. In this class, students will study the author, historical setting, purpose, and theme of each book; special attention is given to some of the key passages. Possess the Land Barry Bennett In this course you will come to understand the relationship between the children of Israel possessing the Promised Land, and believers possessing the Land of Promises. What does it mean to possess the Truth, possess eternal life, our new identity in Christ, our thought life, and God s prosperity? Finally, how do we drive out the enemy who comes to steal, kill and destroy? Prayer Ministry Training Daniel Amstutz and Carlie Terradez This course is applicable for any believer who wants to be trained in how to minister to those in need of healing, providing instruction not only on what the Bible says about healing, wholeness and health, but also how to minister to those dealing with sickness and disease. This is practical hands on training and will be a catalyst for a more effective healing ministry in Jesus name. Principles of Grace and Faith Rick McFarland The purpose of this course is to understand what grace and faith is and how they operate in our relationship towards God and also how they operate towards those around us in our daily life. This course is designed to bring the Christian into a balance of receiving God s grace by faith and demonstrating that grace to all those around us. Prosperity God's Way Greg Mohr This course is designed to help the student develop the right relationship with money and run the love of money out of his/her soul. Jesus tells us in Luke 16 that faithfulness in that which is least money will qualify us to be entrusted with true riches eternal souls. These lessons will establish the student in the purpose of prosperity; identify the real enemies of prosperity and the right attitudes to develop toward finances. 12

Receiving from God I & II Relationship with God I & II Andrew Wommack Andrew Wommack This class covers the subjects of Prayer, Healing, Blessings and Miracles, and Harnessing Your Emotions. This study emphasizes four important truths about God and man s relationship with Him. The Nature of God is a study of God that distinguishes between His character and His acts, contrasting the Old Testament with the New Testament. Hardness of Heart deals with one of the major barriers that keep us from accepting all of God s truth. Authority of the Believer helps us receive the blessings God has for us and shows us how to stop Satan from robbing us. God s Not Guilty shows us from Scripture that God is not the author of our problems, nor does He cause bad things to happen to us. Romans Lawson Perdue Romans - The revelation of righteousness. The Book of Romans is considered by many as the greatest exposition of Christian Doctrine anywhere in the Bible. The revelation of righteousness is the revelation of the gospel. In this class we see: the need for the provision of, the way to and the power of righteousness revealed in Christ and received by faith. The First Book of John Lawson Perdue The object of Christianity is our relationship with God - a study through the book of I John. The Heart "Essence" of the Gospel Arthur Meintjes Guilt, Condemnation and Fear seems to be the motivating factors that define many Christian s lives. Guilt, Condemnation and Fear among believers has been passed down from generation to generation because they have been ignorant of the Heart or Essence of the Gospel, and for generations people have struggled to believe the truth of the Almost too Good to be True Gospel. Because of the ignorance and lack of understanding concerning the Heart or Essence of the Gospel, very few people know and relate to God the way that He is revealed in the New Testament. The Heart or Essence of the Gospel is all about God revealing His Goodness, Love, Mercy, Grace and Forgiveness and true nature to a Tired, Worn out, and Hopeless world! What Faith Is and How to Live by It Dan Funkhouser We will be studying how God operated in faith and see that we also have the same measure of faith in our lives. We will discover that faith operates from our heart and our confession of God s Word. 13

Words and Your Authority Gary Luecke This class is a study on the importance of the words we speak and how it applies to the authority our Lord Jesus has given to all born again believers. Did you know that the book of Proverbs uses the words tongue, lips and mouth over 150 times? It is significant for all of us to understand this concept and use tactfulness and wisdom when opening our mouth! 14

Degree in Biblical Studies Required Second Year Courses for Degree in Biblical Studies The curriculum for the Degree in Biblical Studies is given below. Special emphasis will be made to building a ministry that lasts into eternity, with 4 major focuses: the Personal Character of a Minister, Ministerial Skill, Biblical and Doctrinal Training, and moving in the Charismatic Gifts to meet the needs of people. Stop doing things in your own strength. When we can come to the point that we are not laboring in our own strength, we have entered a new realm, the Spirit filled life. We will explore practical biblical ways to rest in Him. You will start understanding a new peace, a greater ability to hear Him and enter that deeper relationship with the Lord that you have longed for! 19

Seven Messages to Seven Churches So, You Wanna be a Preacher Story Telling The Blessing of God The Goal of the Cross The Workings of Media This study is based on the seven letters to churches in Asia Minor which are found in chapters two and three of the book of Revelation. Each letter ends with the directive, He who has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. This course explores the topics addressed in each of the letters and applies them to our lives in present-day life. Based on over a quarter century of experience teaching in a Bible college, Delron Shirley brings some powerful insights into the role of a minister and shares some necessary "how to s regarding the ministry. He deals with recognizing the call of God upon your life, the obligations and expectations placed on a minister, how to prepare and deliver a sermon, and how to keep a freshness in your spiritual life while ministering to others. A million things happen during a lifetime, some noteworthy, some not, and some you had just as soon forget. If you have yet to be able to hear God speaking to you then most of these events are just things that happen along the way to old age. If you are looking at what you see, if you are aware what you are feeling, if you are listening to what you hear these happenings will become portals to the heart and mind of God. This evaluation of what you are experiencing will become the key to your storytelling! During this elective you will not only learn how to tell a story, but how to identify and tell your story. The favor of God invokes His blessing. You find this truth throughout the Old and New Testament. Once God s Blessings is released it is irreversible. Explore the power of a blessing and see how it went before the great men of God, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the children of Israel. We have inherited the blessing in Christ Jesus. In order to walk in the fullness of the blessing we need to know that we are blessed by faith in Christ Jesus. Learn that the goal of the Cross was to reveal the depths of God s love and teach you how to have deep life changing relationship! Learn how to grow in greater understanding as you see this amazing love story towards you open up through study of the Word! This course will cover a variety of visual, audio, and online forms of media, discussing how they can work together and independently to communicate the stories of God s Kingdom. It will provide a glimpse into the powerful resources available to any ministry for teaching, ministering, and evangelizing with God s word. 20

Foundational Truths for Godly Ministry Arthur Meintjes Since day one in the garden it has always been God s intention and purpose that every man, woman and child, find and live a life that is comfortable, gracious, and pleasant! Living our dreams both in lives and ministry does not only come with the gifting God has given you, or the opportunities you have but by the process of habitually practicing, exercising and preparing your gifting! There is nothing more beautiful for God our Father, than to see us find and live as it were (in the sweet spot) of our lives and ministry. Heart Matters Daniel Amstutz Just when you thought you had spirit, soul and body understood, then you hear about the importance of getting the Word of God from your head to your heart. If I m a three part being, where does that fit? Is the spirit the heart? What about evil thoughts coming from men s hearts as Mark 7:21 states? If my spirit is made new in Christ and complete in Christ, then if my heart is my spirit, how can I doubt in my heart according to Mark 11:23? Is there something wrong with my spirit? Is it possible for your heart to be in neutral? Is it possible for your soul to be in control instead of your spirit? This course deals with all this and way more as we unpack why your heart matters. 21

How to Flow in the Gifts Greg Mohr God gives us specific instruction in I Cor. 12:1 not to be ignorant of spiritual gifts. Yet this is something many Christians and churches are most ignorant about. These wonderful gifts are given to us to access when our knowledge of the Word (not the Word) and natural resources are not enough to get ourselves and others through a difficult time in life. The basis of our study will be from I Cor. 12, 13, & 14. The goal of this course is to equip each student to understand, be comfortable with, and confident in releasing and operating the gifts in order. We will provide time during class to activate the gifts. How to Get Along with People Andrew Wommack Someone once said, If it weren t for people, the ministry would be great. However, the ministry is all about people, so it s critically important to learn how to develop relationships and develop them with the right people. When conflict does arise and it will it s also crucial to know how to resolve that conflict according to the Word of God. God s solution works, but you have to know it to put it into practice. This course will help you live in a healthy tension between the following principles: grace and faith, the ministry of the Word and the Spirit, vision and wisdom, sound doctrine and unity of the brethren, love and discipline, compassion and confrontation, forgiveness and trust, and being led by the Spirit and submission to authority. 27 Practical Skills for Godly Relationships Arthur Meintjes One of the greatest challenges in life is to get along with other people around us, may it be in the work place, at home and at Church or in ministry. Up to 87% of our success in life is directly related to our ability to get along with other people. The problem with relationships is that 90-95% of the people that we deal with in life are either moderately or severely insecure people. To compound this, most of the time we are also insecure ourselves and herein lies the problem. There is nothing that kills a relationship or a vision, and a ministry quicker than personal and unresolved insecurities. It is important to realize that getting along with other people has more to do with us than it has to do with them. Even though knowing God s love will effortlessly change us and influence the way we relate to others, we sometimes still need to practically work on getting along with other people. Principles of Godly Leadership Andrew Wommack The Bible is full of examples in leadership. Surprisingly, most of the greatest leaders recorded in the Bible were not those voted most likely to succeed. What did God see in them that men could not? Maybe, the same things He sees in you. In this course, Andrew teaches about their characteristics, their character, and the principles that operated in their lives. This course is a must for every believer. Supernatural Evangelism Steve Bartlett An introduction to Evangelism as practiced by Jesus and the Apostles. When men and women have the courage to present the Gospel message of Christ's life, death, burial and resurrection, and then prove the message is true by the evidence of "signs and wonders" evangelism becomes very easy. This course will equip students to reach out to the lost in the power of supernatural confirmation by miraculous displays of God's power. The Laws of the Kingdom Barry Bennett A study of the spiritual laws that govern creation and how we can cooperate with those laws in order to enjoy victorious Christian living. 24

Who Is Man? Arthur Meintjes Just as there is a grossly inaccurate concept and belief about God in the hearts of so many believers today, there is also an equally destructive and crippling belief in the hearts of believers about the value of man. One thing that we must understand about religion and legalism is that it is designed to destroy all dignity and worth. That is why people who are deeply involved in religion and legalism invariably end up with no sense of self-worth, value or dignity. If we as Christians are not taught and instructed in a proper Biblical sense of self-worth that is based on gospel truth, we will always struggle to get Bible truth to work in our lives on a consistent basis. If what we believe does not make us feel good about our relationship with God and good about ourselves, it will be very difficult to get the truth of the New Testament to work for me on a consistent basis. 25

Student Policies The policies and procedures of Charis Bible College reflect the need for Godly order so that our campus environment will provide the greatest possible potential for success and spiritual growth. Please become familiar with these. Every student is responsible for understanding and adhering to the policies as set forth. I. Definition of a Charis Student A student of Charis Bible College is one who has fully completed an official application, paid the application fee, been accepted by the Registrar, has completed the enrollment process, is current in payment of tuition, has received a copy of this handbook, and has a picture identification badge for the current school year. Student status will continue throughout the academic school year until promotion, graduation, withdrawal or dismissal. Charis students, as defined above, are subject to the policies found in the Charis Student Handbook. II. Academic Guidelines The school year at Charis is divided into 3 terms: Fall, Winter and Spring. A Charis student must successfully complete all three terms in order to graduate or promote from first year to second year. A student who fails any term due to grades or poor attendance cannot continue in school. If a first year student is dismissed from school for academic or attendance reasons, they may complete the year via Distance Learning, or return the following school year and begin the term that was not successfully completed. A second year student who is dismissed for academic or attendance reasons may retake the failed term plus any subsequent terms missed in the following school year. You will be credited for the terms successfully completed prior to dismissal. Each class is graded as a means of measuring comprehension of the material. Though the primary goal of Charis is to help with spiritual growth and maturity, grades are used to evaluate understanding. All tests must be passed with a minimum score of 70% in order to complete the term successfully. Your cumulative scores including attendance, service hours (first year students), and test grades will be figured into your final GPA for each term. Students must achieve a minimum 70% (2.8) GPA each term to remain an on-campus student, or they will be dismissed. Cumulative GPA over multiple terms is not a factor in this decision. Your grades will be available to view and print online in the Student Information System (CAMS) and in the Desire2Learn (D2L) online testing system. Grading System A = % B = 80-89% C = 70-79% (Please note that any grade under 70% is failing) 81

D = 60-69% F = 0-59% Online Testing Charis Bible College uses online testing through the Desire2Learn (D2L) website. It can be accessed through a link on the CAMS student portal, or through Each student will receive an after enrollment to set up their account through D2L, which will include their unique username (firstname.lastname) and a link to set up a password. You will need to set up your account prior to taking your first test. Once you sign into your D2L account, you will be able to access the test for each course you are enrolled in, and an instructional video about how to use the website. The tests are scheduled to begin the day of the review or the last day of the course, and you will have 7.5 days to take the test. Once you begin taking the test, you will have 90 minutes to complete it. This can be done from home, Charis kiosk computers, the local library, or during a testing lab on a Charis laptop. Please tests@charisbiblecollege.org if you have any issues or questions regarding testing or the D2L website. The Testing Lab will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays before and after school until students feel comfortable with the system. Students who need help with D2L will be advised of the location of the testing lab and may bring their own computer device, or be helped on a school computer. Students must ensure that their tests are completed on time and not wait past the deadline to seek help. Our online testing is based on the honor system. We trust that each and every student will conduct themselves with honesty and integrity. Unless otherwise indicated by the instructor, all tests are to be taken without notes or Bibles present. No sharing of test questions and answers with other students is permitted. Abuses of the system will be addressed. Probation or dismissal from school are possible consequences for such behavior. Test Result Requests Students who wish to see the results of an individual test can access their test results in D2L after all opportunities for that test have concluded. The test results will only be available until the end of the term during which the test was given. Missed Test Policy If you miss any test during the online test window, you must pay a $15 fee in SSR in order to have that test reopened, and complete it within the new test window established. Any student who fails to take a test and chooses to not retake the test will not pass that term and cannot continue in school the following term. Any exceptions to the $15 fee must be approved by the Dean of Students or Assistant Dean of Students and would include: jury duty, military service, bereavement absence, and emergency medical situations that involve short-term hospital care. Documentation must be presented to receive an exception for the abovementioned reasons. The highest grade a student can be awarded on the retake of a missed test will be 70% - a passing grade. Failed Tests If a student fails a test due to their lack of understanding of the material or inability to recall the information, the student will have an opportunity to retake the test within the original 7.5 day testing period to receive a passing grade. If they fail to retake and pass the test during the original testing 12 window, the student must pay a $15 fee in SSR to have the test reopened. The highest grade a student can be awarded on the retake test will be 70% - a passing grade. If you are struggling to pass a test, please contact the testing/records coordinator and we will provide personal assistance to help you. We want you to succeed! 82

All tests must be passed in order for the student to complete the term and continue in school. No test will be available to any student before the scheduled date of the test. Charis Sponsored Mission Trip/GTS - Test Protocol Students who participate on a Charis sponsored trip (Mission trip, GTS/GTC, Mardi Gras, or other school sanctioned trip) will receive special instructions regarding making up missed classes and possible delayed testing for the courses that were impacted by the trip. Recordings of the missed classes will be made available to you on CAMS for 30 days after the lesson was recorded. You will be given new dates to take the test(s) after you return from your trip, which will be communicated to you by . You will have full grade potential, and the tests will remain closed book. Any tests that are not taken during the dates that have been established will be subject to the $15 test reopen fee protocol previously stated. Grade Corrections If you question a grade that you received on a test, please submit your concern to the Records Coordinator at tests@charisbiblecollege.org. Every effort will be made to respond to you within 1 business day of your inquiry. Please keep in mind that an analysis is run on each group of tests when they are completed. If there is a test question that shows an unusually high incorrect percentage, we will check every aspect of that question and answer to ensure that no mistakes were made before your test scores are posted to CAMS. III. Financial Policy Financial responsibility is an important part of spiritual growth and maturity. It is a matter of good stewardship to pay your bills on time and to be sure that your obligations do not exceed your economic reality. While we understand the walk of faith, you must understand the need to be responsible and timely in meeting your tuition obligations. Faith pays the bills. All students will be billed at the beginning of each term for the entire term. You will not receive monthly updates or reminders to pay your tuition. You are responsible for checking the status of your tuition on the Student Information System (CAMS). For students who pay monthly, payments are due the first school day of each month. Fall term students must pay the full monthly tuition amount starting at enrollment in August (September s payment), and continue through May 4, For first year students who enroll in the Winter Term, monthly payments will run from December 1, 2017 through August 1, 2018, although December's payment must be made upon enrolling for the Winter Term. In both cases, your tuition amount is divided evenly over that 9-month period of time. Tuition payments will continue through vacations and breaks during that 9-month period. Any student who has not paid the full month s tuition by the 10th of the month will receive an reminder. Please contact the Dean of Students as soon as possible about this matter. If your tuition for the calendar month is not paid in full by the 15th of that month, you must turn in your lanyard and ID to SSR. You will then be issued a Grace badge and may attend classes for 5 additional school days, but you must get a new badge from SSR each morning of this 5 day period. It is hoped that your tuition issue can be resolved during this time and if so, you will be reinstated, and the lanyard and ID will be returned. Half Time Hybrid School students complete payment for class must be made in advance of the class start date. 83

All tuition must be fully paid the Friday preceding the last week of school. Students with unpaid financial obligations will not receive a Certificate of Completion, diploma, degree and/or license, nor will they be able to participate in the promotion or graduation ceremonies. If late tuition and fees are paid in full after the conclusion of the school year, a Certificate of Completion, diploma, degree and/or license will be issued and mailed to you. A first year student whose tuition is not paid in full will not be allowed to enter the Second Year Program. Any student who withdraws from or is dismissed from school must still pay any past due tuition. Refund Policy Students who submit a withdrawal form signed by either the Dean of Students, the Dean of Women, or the Registrar will be granted a tuition refund as follows: Second week of term - 100% refund of tuition paid for term Third week of term - 50% refund of tuition paid for term Fourth week of term - 25% refund of tuition paid for term Fifth week of term and beyond - 0% refund of tuition paid for term Refunds include tuition and book fees for only those books not distributed, and do not include other fees or charges. V.A. Refund Policy (In accordance with VA Regulation ) Students not accepted by the school and students who cancel the contract by notifying the school within three business days of the start of classes are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid. If any student withdraws after three business days but before commencement of classes, they are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid, except the application fee. In the case of students withdrawing after commencement of classes, the school will retain a cancellation fee, plus a percentage of tuition and fees, which is based on the percentage of contract hours attended as described in the table below. The refund is based on the last date of recorded attendance. Refund Table for Veteran Students Student entitled upon withdrawal/termination Refund 10% of program completed 90% Refunded 20% of program completed 80% Refunded 30% of program completed 70% Refunded 40% of program completed 60% Refunded 50% of program completed 50% Refunded 60% of program completed 40% Refunded 70% of program completed 30% Refunded 80% of program completed 20% Refunded 90% of program completed 10% Refunded The student may cancel this contract at any time prior to close of the third business day after signing the enrollment agreement. The official date of termination for refund purposes is the last date of recorded attendance. All refunds will be made within 30 days from the date of termination. 84

The student will receive a full refund of tuition and fees paid if the school discontinues a course/program within a period of time a student could have reasonably completed it, except that this provision shall not apply in the event the school ceases operation. Complaints that cannot be resolved by direct negotiation between the student and the school may be filed with the Division of Private Occupational Schools of the Colorado Department of Higher Education. The Division shall not consider any claim that is filed more than two years after the date the student discontinues his/her training at the school. Transcripts All applicants who are veterans are required to submit an official transcript. All official transcripts must be mailed directly by the issuing school to the Charis Bible College admissions office. Charis Bible College will review all prior education and training. It will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine if credit will be given for those classes. Tuition Payments Chapter 33 Veterans using education benefits who are eligible for less than 100% benefit are responsible for all tuition and fees not covered by their benefit payment. Example: With a 50% benefit and tuition of $1266, VA Education would pay $633, and the student would be responsible for the remaining balance of $633. VA education benefits are only available for our Day School Program. The Hybrid Program does not meet the VA education benefit criteria for a nonaccredited college, and therefore veterans desiring to utilize their VA education benefits must attend the Day School Program to qualify. IV. Student Identification Cards Each student will be issued one identification scan card (photo ID), and a colored lanyard. You must wear your student ID card visibly at all times while on any ministry property (this includes the Elkton campus). The colored lanyard must be visible around your neck and on top of your clothing. Students who are dismissed or withdraw from school must turn in their identification scan card and lanyard. Do not deface, decorate or punch holes in your identification scan card or lanyard. Do not attach a nickname to the scan card or lanyard. A student who comes to school without the Charis identification scan card will not be issued a visitor s badge. That student must use the following procedure: Procedure for students who arrive without their identification scan card 1. Students without their identification scan card can be stopped by any Charis staff member or Security Team member. Students are not allowed unescorted access to any ministry building without the ID and lanyard. 2. Students without their ID/lanyard have 2 options: Leave school to retrieve the badge, or be escorted to SSR in order to purchase a new identification scan card and lanyard. Students who choose to purchase a new identification scan card and lanyard must be escorted by either a Security Team member or Charis staff member to the SSR room. 85

3. Students must pay $15 for the identification scan card and the lanyard with cash, check or credit card. The identification scan card must be attached to the corresponding lanyard. 4. Once the request for the badge has been received and paid for, the student will wait in the sitting area at the top of the main stairs near the back door (west end of building) until the badge is produced and delivered to the student. The student may not attend class or wander in the halls without a badge and lanyard. If you are discovered without your badge and you have not ordered a new one, you must purchase a badge and lanyard, or leave the building. You will be counted as absent for the day. 5. The new photo ID scan card will be the official scan card from that point forward. Please do not use the old photo ID scan card for attendance. IT WILL NOT RECORD YOU AS PRESENT. You will be asked to return your old scan card if it is found. V. Attendance Policy Please view attendance as a matter of stewardship and personal integrity. Consider your attendance at Charis as seriously as you would for a job. Your attendance will be graded and included in your GPA as a course grade. You will be expected to scan in upon arrival, as well as scan out at the end of each school day in order to receive full credit for that day s attendance. If a student fails to scan in/out or scans out before the proper time, they will be counted as absent for the day. Day School begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 12:00 p.m. All scans that occur after 8:00 a.m. will be considered tardy. Any scan that occurs after 8:30 a.m. or before 12:00 p.m. will be considered an absence. Every 5 tardies during a term will equal one absence. Each absence is a 3 point deduction from the day school attendance grade. A day school student may have ten absences per term and still pass attendance (70%). Hybrid Night School begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. All scans that occur after 6:30 p.m. will be considered tardy. Any scan that occurs after 7:00p.m. or before 9:30 p.m. will be considered an absence. Every 5 tardies during a term will equal one absence. Each absence is a 7.5 point deduction from the Hybrid Night School attendance grade. A Hybrid Night School student may have four absences per term and still pass attendance (70%). Half Time students in this category must abide by the scan in and out times mentioned above for the specific day they choose (Tuesday or Thursday), and may have two absences per term and still pass attendance (70%). Hybrid Saturday School begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. All scans that occur after 10:00 a.m. will be considered tardy. Any scan that occurs after 10:30 a.m. or before 5:00 p.m. will be considered an absence. Every 5 tardies during a term will equal one absence. Each absence is a 30 point deduction from the Hybrid Saturday School attendance grade. A Hybrid Saturday School student may have one absence per term and still pass attendance (70%). Half Time students in this category must abide by the 10:00 a.m. scan in time, and must scan out after their last class and before they leave the building. These students may have one absence per term and still pass attendance (70%). 86

Excused Attendance Exceptions Excused late arrivals or early departures must be authorized by the Dean of Students or Assistant Dean of Students, and are only for those situations occurring on a regular basis. Occasional or one-time exceptions should not be requested. Reasons for late arrivals or early departures must be verifiable and could include drop off times for school-aged children and conflicting work schedules. Please the Dean of Students or Assistant Dean of Students with your request and an explanation. You will be contacted and informed if your request has been approved or denied. If approved, your attendance record will indicate this exception. The only excused absences (no point deduction) include bereavement leave for the death of a family member, jury duty, temporary military duty (National Guard/Reserve), or a medical condition requiring short term hospitalization. Other absences due to work, family issues, doctor s visits, transportation issues, trips, or forgetting to scan in or out are not excused. Please do not write the Dean s office asking for an excused absence in such cases. A student who fails attendance is subject to probation or dismissal. SCANNING TIPS: If you aren t sure a scan was recorded, simply re-scan. If more than one scan is recorded during the same day, attendance will be calculated by using the earliest time scanned for your arrival, and the first correct scan out for your respective school (day, Hybrid Night or Hybrid Saturday). If a student forgets to scan in/out or scans out before the proper time, it will be counted as an absence. Please do not go to staff to have your mistake corrected. If you scan in someone else s card or have someone else scan your card, both of you will receive a zero (0) for your attendance grade that term, and both of you will be subject to immediate dismissal from the school. Students are not allowed to scan in, leave campus during school hours, and then return to scan out. This is viewed as cheating on your attendance grade, and violators will face probation or dismissal. If you must leave campus for any reason, simply scan out as you exit the building. If you foresee an absence of 5 consecutive school days or longer, please advise the Dean of Students or Assistant Dean of Students in writing. Unexplained absences of 5 days or more will result in the student being considered inactive. Such absences must be explained in full before the student will be reinstated. If a student is absent for 10 consecutive days without explanation, they will be dismissed as a Charis student. Snow Days The weather conditions between September and May can vary from hour to hour. For this reason, Charis has set forth some guidelines to address our actions in regards to the weather conditions. The decision to remain open or to close will be made by 6 a.m. for Day School classes, 3:30 p.m. for Hybrid Night School classes, and 6:30 a.m. for Hybrid Saturday School classes. Closure Announcements will be posted by the times listed above. Charis does not rely on Woodland Park RE2 School District. Students are to use the following methods to verify if Charis is open or closed due to inclement weather: Check the Charis Student Weather Line: Things to keep in mind when calling: a. If school is open, there is no date reference. b. It will only be updated if there is a change in the status. c. If school is closed, it will be date specific. 87

d. Do not leave messages. They will not be returned. e. Do not call the school to ask if school is closed. Check KKTV 11 school closures list. Check Facebook: Charis Bible College Colorado. Check your CAMS student portal. Check your phone Text Alerts 1. Text the word charis to Or go to a. Enter your first and last name and phone number b. Check the box next to Charis Student c. You are now signed up 3. To opt out at any time, reply with the word stop to any text. 4. All student numbers will purged from the system in July of each year. Students should be aware of any weather likely to cause HWY 24 closures. Ute Pass closures which result in a school closure will be posted using the same methods listed above. If the decision to remain open is made and you are uncomfortable with coming to school that day due to travel conditions or the road worthiness of your vehicle, that is your decision. We encourage you to consider your safety in this decision and to drive safely while traveling in such conditions. We are simply informing you that school is open. Audio recordings of classes cancelled due to inclement weather will be made available via links in the CAMS student portal. They can be found under the course listings usually within 1-2 business days of the closure, and it is the student s responsibility to access their missed classes through the links provided. Children on Campus In consideration of the teachers and other students, we cannot allow children in the school during class sessions. Winter Term Students Students who start their first year at the beginning of the Winter Term must complete Fall Term courses either during Summer School, or via one of our Distance Education options. For those choosing the Summer School option, classes are given primarily via DVD on campus, with some occasional live instruction based on instructor availability. Summer School begins May 23rd, and runs through July 18th, Part of your training will include serving during the Summer Family Bible Conference. These hours will serve as your Student Service Hours for grading purposes, or could accumulate as Mission points if your Service Hour requirement is fulfilled. Tuition must be paid in full by Monday, July 16th, 2018, in order to receive a promotion certificate at the end of summer school. Students who complete their tuition payments after the end of Summer School will have their certificates mailed to them. If you enter Charis as a first year student during the Winter term and you do not choose the Summer School option in its entirety, you must complete your first year studies via one of our Distance Education options. Partial attendance of the summer session is not permitted. Be aware that if you choose the Distance Education option, the cost per course is slightly higher than attending on campus. 88

VI. Dress Code Modesty and good taste are to be considered the principle for all students while on campus or at Charis/AWMI functions. Casual dress that is clean and neat is appropriate for classes and daily campus activities. Promotion Breakfast, Graduation Ceremonies and class pictures dictate more formal attire. Clothes say a lot about our own personal self-image. Studies have discovered a clear link between how we dress and how well we perform at school and at our place of employment. Sloppy or inappropriate dress usually carries over into one s approach to their studies and/or work. Good personal hygiene is expected of all students. This would include daily bathing, clean clothes, having your hair combed, use of deodorant, nice breath, etc. We do not want your clothing or hygiene to be a distraction to other students. Dress Code Guidelines 1. No hats are to be worn in the building by men or women, with the exception of knit, ski type hats during the colder months if they are close fitting and not a distraction. 2. No spaghetti strap, tank-top, or strapless tops may be worn at school unless covered with a sweater, cardigan, or other shirt. Tops, shirts and blouses must cover the shoulders. 3. Wrinkle free, colored T-shirts may be worn, but may not contain any offensive wording or slogans. Button-up shirts, polo shirts and dress shirts are preferred. White undershirts are not appropriate for outer wear. No low cut or V-neck shirts for men or women. 4. Shirts and blouses must be long enough to cover the midsection when hands are raised above the head. 5. Pants/jeans must be worn at the hips, and cannot have holes or rips that reveal skin underneath. They should also be free from stains. 6. Overly tight jeans for men or women are not appropriate, and may not be worn. 7. Leggings, jeggings (jean leggings), yoga pants, and any other skin-tight legwear are not pants and may not be worn without a skirt or dress of the appropriate length (see #8 below). Sweat pants may not be worn. 8. Shorts or mini-skirts of any kind are not to be worn. Skirts and dresses should be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. 9. Military uniforms and military styled clothing can only be worn by active duty personnel. 10. Clothing must not be revealing. Clothing deemed too tight or too revealing is not appropriate on campus or at other school functions. 11. Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times. Flip flops are permitted for women only, but we prefer more substantial footwear be worn for safety reasons. 12. We ask that you not use strongly scented perfumes, colognes or lotions while in school. Many students have adverse reactions to such fragrances. 89

If your attire does not meet the dress code, you will be asked to go home and change. All Charis staff members are authorized to speak to you about inappropriate dress or hygiene. If you are asked to go home and change clothes, please consider this directive as coming from the Dean of Students. Your compliance is expected. VII. Conduct and Correction We expect every student of Charis Bible College to conduct themselves in agreement with the Student Handbook at all times while enrolled as a student both on and off campus. Immoral behavior, drunkenness, illegal drug use, abusive or threatening talk or behavior, a rebellious attitude, continual rule breaking or conduct deemed dangerous to others will be grounds for correction and/or dismissal. While marijuana is now legal in Colorado, it is considered unacceptable drug use by Charis Bible College and such use is deemed grounds for dismissal. Disciplinary Process 1. Verbal Warning: The Director, Dean of Students, Dean of Education, Dean of Women, Assistant Deans, Third Year Directors or Coordinators, and the Hybrid School Coordinator may speak to a student and bring correction when needed. 2. Written Warning: If a student fails to respond to a verbal warning from the abovementioned staff members, the Dean of Students or Charis Director may issue a written warning or suspension. 3. Dismissal: If a student fails to respond adequately to correction or if the problem is of a serious nature, he/she will be dismissed from the campus at the discretion of the Director and/or Dean of Students. Campus Safety The dismissed student may be allowed to re-enroll for a following school year if an acceptable change has taken place. That decision is at the sole discretion of the Director and/or Dean of Students. Any activity in the life of a student deemed unacceptable by the Director, Dean of Students, or those in authority will be considered grounds for immediate dismissal from the program without the need to follow the above guidelines. The Charis Security Team is responsible for keeping our campus safe. They are enforcing the policies as set forth by the Charis Bible College administration. Please be courteous to our Security Team and follow their instructions. 1. Firearms and Weapons The Sanctuary is private property inside the Woodland Park city limits. Firearms are prohibited on campus. It is illegal to discharge a firearm inside the city limits of Woodland Park. 2. Fire Alarm Drills Throughout the year, fire drills will be conducted. If an alarm sounds, students are to leave through the nearest available exit as quickly as possible. Students on the Banquet Hall level will exit the building and gather in the lower east parking lot (Parking Lot B), being careful not to block the driveway from access by emergency vehicles. All staff and students on the lower level of the Barn will exit through the south doors and gather in the staff parking lot on the west side of the Barn, or on the property adjoining the pond. All staff and students on the main (classroom) level of the Auditorium (Phase II) should use the closest of the three following exits: 1) The doors on the east side of the building and gather in Parking Lot B. 2) Go up the northwest stairwell, exit the west doors and gather in the west gravel parking lot. 3) Exit the double doors on the southeast side of the building (facing the Barn) and gather in Parking Lot B. 90

The entrance to the campus must remain open for emergency vehicles. Therefore, students are not permitted to leave the area or drive their cars during the alarm drill or emergency. 3. Charis Hours of Operation Charis doors will be open at 6:30 a.m. during normal school days. Doors will be closed and locked at 3:30 p.m. each school day. Students are free to be on campus during normal business hours, but must adhere to the lanyard policy. Hybrid student s ID scan cards will be activated to grant them access to the building for the purpose of attending school. Monday through Friday, all students, visitors and staff should be off the property no later than 10:15 p.m. Hybrid Saturday School students: You will be able to enter the building at 9:00 a.m., and all students and staff should be off the property no later than 6:00 p.m. Emergency Situations If a serious injury or perceived emergency situation arises, students should contact the nearest Charis Bible College staff member or Charis Security Officer. They will assess and handle the situation as they deem appropriate. Please stand away from the staff as they minister to the needs of the affected individual. We ask that you not call 911 unless the situation is life threatening and it is clear that emergency help is needed. If you have a medical condition that Charis should be aware of, please give a written description of this condition to the Dean of Students or Dean of Women. Security will be alerted to any potential emergency that your condition may entail so that we can be prepared if the need arises. Charis Security can be summoned by: The Reception Desk Greeter Student Services Sound booth personnel in the main auditorium Going directly to a Security office Soliciting Students are not permitted to solicit business or money while on campus. Student initiated offerings may not be taken for any reason. Personal business (Avon, clothing sales, etc.) may not be conducted during school hours. Please do not promote your business with students or staff while on campus. Flyers or pamphlets of any sort (whether ministry, business, housing, etc.) may not be passed out or left in the building or on cars. All flyers and other kinds of advertisements must be submitted to the SSR for approval to be posted. Smoking Charis/AWMI is a non-smoking campus and facility. There are no designated smoking areas. Tobacco use of any kind, including smokeless tobacco and E-cigarettes, is not permitted on campus. 91

Student relationships Appropriate Christian behavior is expected on and off campus. Immorality is considered grounds for immediate dismissal from Charis. Sexual harassment will not be tolerated. If a student feels uncomfortable with the attention of any other student on campus, they may speak with the Dean of Students or the Dean of Women, and the situation will be addressed. Romantic physical contact can be a distraction and is not appropriate while on campus. Discipleship We understand that students often have a desire for personal orientation and discipleship during their time at Charis. It must be understood, however, that Charis is not a local church and we do not have the staff and resources to provide ongoing, personal ministry for our students. There are no licensed counselors on staff. The Dean of Students, Dean of Women, Assistant Deans and Charis instructors may be willing to offer concise orientation on a limited basis, but please do not expect them to conduct long term, lengthy sessions with you. We ask that you seek out help from your local congregation and/or pastor when possible. All student issues concerning interpersonal relationships or difficulties within the student body should be communicated with the Dean of Students, Dean of Women, or Assistant Dean of Students. We strongly encourage students who are contemplating marriage to seek out premarital counseling from their pastor or a qualified Christian counselor. The following guidelines should be followed when considering a discipleship session with a designated staff member (as listed below). - Please make your request to see the appropriate staff member by . - The staff member will respond via with questions to determine if there is a need for a personal meeting. - Due to the time constraints on our staff, we ask that personal sessions last no longer than 30 minutes. - You must be willing to follow the directions of the staff member you are seeing, even if it includes seeking outside counsel. Please know that our heart is to see you live a victorious Christian life and be set free from any conflict you may be facing. We believe that sitting under and applying the Word of God to your situation is the most effective way to see change in your life. Designated staff members can be contacted for a discipling meeting. These staff members will decide if the Dean of Students needs to be involved due to the nature of your situation. 97 classes are limited to 5 days per term, per visitor. In consideration of the teachers and other students, we cannot allow children in the school during class sessions. Visitors may not attend the Third Year classes regardless of who is speaking unless invited by the Director or Coordinator of that school. IX. Student Services Policies and Procedures 1. Hours of Operation: The Student Services Room (SSR) is open from 7:30 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. every school morning, during each break time, and from 12 noon until 12:30 p.m. after school. The SSR will close promptly at the end of each designated time. Please do not insist that they remain open after the designated time. 2. Appointments: Questions for the staff and instructors should be communicated via the appropriate address. Staff will also be available in the halls during break times. Appointments with staff and instructors will be initiated by them if they feel your situation warrants such a meeting, and will usually take place before or after school. Students are not allowed to walk into the staff administrative offices in either building without prior approval. If you have been scheduled for an appointment, please go to the Reception Desk in the foyer of the Barn, and the receptionist will notify the staff or faculty member that you have arrived for your appointment. The SSR staff will also be happy to contact the staff or faculty member for you. However, please do not wait in line. Go directly into SSR and speak to any of the Student Service Interns about your scheduled appointment. 3. Tuition Payments: Tuition payments can be taken in the SSR by means of cash, check or credit card. See the Financial Policy section of this handbook for specific details on tuition due dates and procedures for late payments. For tuition paid by credit card, we strongly urge you to pay via your CAMS student portal. 4. Copies: The printers in SSR are available for reproducing school related material only. This includes passports, Driver s Licenses, International student visa papers, bulletin board announcements, mission-related medical paperwork, etc. Keep in mind that items necessary for you to enroll or remain a student will be copied for free. All other items will cost $0.10 per page. However, there are items that will not be copied, including class syllabi, personal class notes, small group flyers, letters to friends or relatives, or any other non-school related material. If you have no other reasonable method of printing or copying materials on your own, you may bring the papers to be copied into SSR and an intern will assist you, or electronic material to either studentservices@awmcharis.com or ssr@awmcharis.com, and have it printed for you. Keep in mind that break times are generally very busy and you may be asked to return during the next break to retrieve your printed material. 5. Phone Calls: Please do not ask to make phone calls from the Reception desk phone or the SSR department phones. Please do not make cell phone calls near the Reception desk work area or the SSR. 6. Bulletin Boards: There are various bulletin boards located on the upper and lower levels for student information and notices. An information bulletin board for student use is located on the wall outside of the SSR. If you have something you would like to put on that board, it must first be cleared through the Student Services personnel. Bring your information to the SSR for review. Information will be posted for one month from the time of approval. Do not post your own advertisement on any bulletin board glass, or leave them lying on the break area or classroom tables. 94

Housing notices should be posted online on the Charis Word of Mouth (CWOM) Facebook page. Those who would like to post their own notices should go directly to the website, join the CWOM group, and submit their advertisements. To be considered for posting on the SSR Bulletin Board and/or the Charis Word of Mouth Facebook page, all housing advertisement submissions must meet the following guidelines: a) You must be a Charis Student, Alumni, or Staff. b) If you are an incoming student, you must have already received your Acceptance Letter. c) No more than 6-8 typed lines of text including: i. Location/address of the property. ii. Number of bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. iii. Rental price per month or sales asking price. iv. Date of available occupancy. v. Any restrictions, such as no pets or smoking, etc. vi. Whether utilities are included or not. vii. If the unit, apartment, or house is gender specific. viii. Any other pertinent details. ix. Lower Level Bulletin Board (next to the downstairs water fountains) Registrar s Office (left hand third) General Information (middle third) Third Year Program (right hand third) Upper Level Bulletin Board (outside entrance to the main stairwell) Healing and Worship Schools (left hand third) General Information (middle third) Missions (right hand third) 7. Announcements: All campus-wide announcements must be submitted to the Dean of Women for review and approval at least two weeks in advance of publication. All student announcements must go through a designated staff member for review before reaching the Dean's desk. (For example, Missions related announcements should be sent to the Missions Coordinator, etc.) Students may not make spontaneous announcements in class. Once approved, announcements are delivered to the student body using a variety of the following methods: a) Video announcements. b) Written announcements posted on the bulletin boards. c) PDF versions of the written announcements posted in CAMS (which can be downloaded electronically). d) Digital signage monitors. e) Power Point slides in the auditorium. f) Verbal (during the Praise and Worship hours). g) Occasional blast s. 8. Mail Boxes: Student mailboxes are located on the main level of the Auditorium (Phase II building), near the northwest stairwell. Boxes should be checked each day for memos, messages and/or mail. All students will be assigned a box number. Be sure to include your mailbox number on any communication that will require us to respond to you through your mailbox. 95

9. Lost and Found: Items found and turned in by staff and students will be stored in an unlocked cabinet under the stairs of the main stairwell of the Barn. This includes clothing, water bottles, coffee mugs, books, etc. Items of value (wallets, jewelry, cell phones, etc.) will be kept in the SSR. 10. AWM Materials: Andrew has made all AWM's books, CDs/DVDs, and study guides available to current Charis students at a 50% discount (except for partnership materials, and the D/E Program). Materials can be ordered and paid for using the gold In-House Transaction Form found in the rack located outside the SSR. Turn in the completed order form in the SSR. Optionally, students may go directly to the AWM bookstore at the Elkton location to purchase AWM materials. You must wear your Charis lanyard to receive your 50% discount on designated items. Student discounts cannot be given for orders taken over the phone or from the AWM website. 11. Charis Materials: Charis products and instructor s books can be purchased in SSR during normal operating hours. Products are also made available for sale at AWM and Charis conferences, and events open to the public. Prices for individual items are posted in SSR. On occasion, older and/or seasonal merchandise may be purchased at reduced prices, however Charis products and instructor s books for sale in SSR are not included in the list of designated AWM sale items. X. Break Time Policy 1. Breaks between classes are to be utilized for personal phone calls, use of bathrooms, and the consumption of snacks. All students are expected to be in their seats at the sound of the second bell. 2. No special coffee drinks (lattes, mochas, etc.) may be ordered after the first bell, and nothing will be served or sold after the second bell. 3. If something gets spilled, please ask the front desk or SSR personnel to contact the Facilities department immediately. 4. Before break is over, make sure the tables are clear and clean. 5. Remember that NO FOOD may be consumed during class time, and only non-spill containers may be used in the classrooms. No soft drink cans are allowed in the classrooms. 6. The refrigerators will be cleaned out every Friday at the end of school. Any plastic containers left after that will be discarded or become the property of Charis. Please do not use the refrigerator as your personal storage facility. Only items you plan to use that day may be kept in the refrigerator, and must be removed at the end of each day. If you did not put an item in the refrigerator, do not take it out! 7. All coffee cups, water bottles and other drink cups left in the building after 12:20 p.m. each day will be taken to Lost and Found, and unclaimed items will be routinely discarded. Please check Lost and Found if you are missing the abovementioned items. XI. Vehicle Parking There are changes to the parking program for Be sure to read this completely. 1. All student vehicles must be registered to park on campus and will be issued a Charis sticker during enrollment. This sticker is provided at no cost and must be attached to the interior, lower left corner of the driver side windshield. Student vehicles without visible parking stickers are subject to being towed. 2. There are four primary lots available for student parking on campus; A, B, C, & D. You will need to refer to the Parking Plan and diagram that is available on the CAMS student portal. 96

3. Parking in Lots C and D is free, and shuttles are provided to bring you to the front door. 4. There is now Preferred Parking in Lots A and B, and permits are available for purchase by the year or term. There are a limited number of spaces available for purchase. a) Lot A permits are $400 per year, or $150 per term. Lot B permits are $350 per year, or $133 per term. b) If paying by the term and you desire to renew, payment must be received no later than 10 days prior to the end of the current term. If payment is not received, the permit will be made available to other students for purchase. c) Students found to be parking in Lots A or B without the appropriate parking hanger are subject to: (a) disciplinary action and/or (b) the vehicle towed at the owner s expense. 5. Any time there is a conference or event on campus, all student parking (both Preferred and Free) will be suspended during the event for the convenience of our guests. Students will be informed of specific parking protocols prior to each conference/event. 6. Parking on the west side of the buildings is for Charis Staff only and designated as such. Staff parking is not for students who may be employees of AWMI at Elkton. Any student found parking in the Staff Parking Lot without proper authorization will be required to visit with the Operations Manager to explain their need. Any additional violations of the Staff Parking Lot will be referred to the Assistant Dean of Students for disciplinary action. 7. Overnight parking without Security staff permission is prohibited. 8. Please observe a 10mph speed limit in parking areas. 9. Please observe the 15mph speed limit when passing the gatehouse, entering or exiting. 10. Please comply with the campus parking attendants, all traffic and parking signage, and follow all posted directional and speed limit signs. 11. There is heavy pedestrian traffic between the lower east parking lot and the upper east parking lot around the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Please be observant as students walk to and from their cars. 12. Parking is in designated parking areas only. Do not park in Guest Speaker, Guest, or Handicap parking spaces. Violations will be handled as follows: 1st Year The student s name will be put on the main monitor during class, and they will be required to leave class and go to the Security office, then move their vehicle. If they don t respond, a Security Officer will retrieve them. 2nd and 3rd Year a Security Officer will locate the student in class and have them accompany the Officer to move the car. A second violation will be handled as a disciplinary issue and given to the Assistant Dean of Students. If there are additional violations, towing at the owner s expense will become an option. 13. If you have a Handicap sticker or license plate, use the designated space if available. It is the student s responsibility to ensure that the sticker or plate is visible and current. If all handicap spaces are in use and you have not purchased preferred parking, you will have to park in Lot C or D and ride the shuttle. 14. Please do not spin your tires, do donuts in the parking lot, or cause your car to slide on the ice and snow for a thrill. Such recklessness will be grounds for probation or dismissal. 97

XII. Sanctuary Policy It is the desire of the Charis Operations Department to maximize the reasonable and responsible use of the campus by students and staff, and to create policies that support that desire. The ultimate desire is that the student body and staff would take ownership of the campus and its facilities, and participate in the care and management of the property that God has entrusted to us to steward. To that end, the following guidelines are provided: ID/Lanyard Policy All students are required to wear their student ID attached to their colored lanyard around their neck in a clearly visible fashion. This policy is in effect at all times when on campus or any ministry property, without exception. Building Stewardship The 157-acre campus is known as the Sanctuary. The buildings in which classes are held are called the Barn and the Auditorium" (Phase II). The entire campus has been entrusted to us by God to steward for His use. Please be mindful that this is a large building and property, and your assistance in keeping it clean is greatly appreciated. XIII. Mission Trips Mission trips are a very valuable and important part of training for our second year students. It is Andrew s desire for every second year student to take a mission trip; consequently, it is a requirement for graduation from Charis. The purpose of the trip is to give exposure to another culture, to learn how to interact with the people, to deal with a demanding and flexible schedule, and to cooperate with other students as a team. Mission trips have proven to be lifechanging for most graduates; hundreds of nationals are born again and Spirit-filled, miracles happen, and the lives of many are changed by the ministry of the Word. Each trip emphasizes a different kind of ministry depending on where you go. Some of the opportunities to minister are: teach in Bible schools, street evangelism, skits and dramas, orphanages, community projects, work with local pastors to disciple, evangelize, minister in healing, etc. Mission trips are paid for in the following ways: 1. Charis Walk-A-Thons 2. Personal Funds 3. Points earned through participation in Charis sponsored fundraisers such as Men s Advance, Campus Days, etc. There is a Walk-A-Thon in the fall and again in the spring. These Walk-AThons are our biggest fundraisers and generate the most dollars to fund these trips. Charis will provide fundraising letters for you to send out to your friends and family. You are strongly encouraged to participate in these fundraisers to support your mission trip, and not just depend on serving at events. Mission point opportunities at Charis events are very limited. Another way you can support your mission trip is by putting aside funds each month beginning your first year. Those funds can be turned in monthly and will be credited to your mission trip account. Please specify that you are paying toward your mission trip and not tuition. Mission points are awarded according to the level of a student s involvement in a Charis event that generates funds for mission trips. Students should not expect to earn all points this way. Plan ahead to ensure that your trip is covered through the three main areas previously stated. Mission points and/or dollars earned by students are not refundable or transferable to other students. Actual dollars earned at one Charis Bible College are transferable to another Charis Bible College for the same student. It is up to the 98

student to notify the Mission Department and new Charis location upon transfer. Mission points and/or dollars are held over for one year. The Mission Point program ends for second year students on the last day of April. If a student hasn t earned enough points for his or her mission trip, the balance is to be paid in dollars to Charis by the first Monday in May. Students who have not paid for their trip will not be allowed to participate in the Charis graduation ceremony. Students may take their trip before earning all points, but must understand that the points and/or money must be met before graduation. After a mission trip, students have until the end of April to continue earning points by serving at events. If 4000 points are required and you earn 3800, you must pay the 200 point difference ($100) before graduation. One (1) point is counted as 50 cents. Some mission trips have additional costs not covered by mission points. These are paid for by the students taking those trips. Some additional costs might include visas, immunizations, some meals, etc. Any additional costs will be made known prior to the trip. Mission trips must be taken during the second year of the program. Any exception will be reviewed on an individual basis by the Mission Coordinator and Dean of Students. Mission points earned during first year only apply to a mission trip taken during the second year of study. Mission points will only carry over one year if a student isn t able to attend school or take their trip during their second year. If after a one year absence from Charis a first year student fails to attend second year and take a mission trip, any mission points accrued during his or her first year will be lost. For example: a student who successfully completes first year, earns 500 mission points and then does not return to Charis for 2 years to attend second year will have lost those 500 points, and must start from zero. If a student or intern decides not to take a trip once their ticket has been purchased or they are dropped from a trip due to past-due tuition, academic or attendance reasons, they must reimburse Charis for the ticket price and any other associated costs. Charis is under no obligation to provide another trip for that student or intern. Veterans: Please be aware that the VA will not pay missions trip costs related to travel (airfare, lodging & meals) or third party charges. You will need to participate in the Walk-A-Thon fundraisers, volunteer for events to earn points, or pay for your mission trip as other students must do. Your mission trip will not affect the payment of tuition or your BHA payments. Student Selection for Mission Trips At the beginning of second year (and in January for first year students), a list is given showing the options for mission trip destinations, estimated travel dates, the number of mission points needed, and additional costs required for each trip (if applicable). Student choices are submitted to the Missions Coordinator. Every effort is made to give students their first or second choice of mission locations. Due to housing and transportation constraints, location or other factors, the number of students per trip is limited. As a result, slots will be filled by selection from the pool of students who made that location their first choice, until the trip is full. The students who aren t chosen will be added to the pool for their second choice; however, the student should understand that they will not have priority for their second choice. Priority is primarily dictated by your choice, the status of your passport, and the number of mission points accrued. If you do not have a valid passport, you will not be placed on a trip. After a passport is confirmed by the Missions Coordinator, the student will be placed on a trip according to space availability. 99

Requirements The following requirements must be met. Failure to meet any of the following requirements may disqualify a student from taking a mission trip. Student must have a current and valid passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity after the date of the trip Student must be in good academic standing Student s tuition must be current Student must attend all team meetings Student must demonstrate an overall consistent display of Godly character Important Updates 1) We provide ample opportunity between letters, conference participation, and Healing School to raise money for mission trips. However, students must be assertive in sending out letters and volunteering at events to earn enough money for their mission trips. Mission points are a supplemental way to help pay the mission trip cost. The Mission Department encourages students to be creative in fundraising efforts off campus. Students should choose an affordable mission trip, and develop a payment strategy. 2) Charis Bible College will not be responsible for unpaid mission trips. There will be deadlines that students will have to meet in order to go on his or her mission trip. April will be the last month second year students will be able to earn mission points. There will be a final posting the last school day in April. The final deadline to pay mission trips in full is the first Monday in May in order to participate in graduation. 3) At the beginning of second year, we ask that students have 1,500 mission points in their mission account. If they do not, they may not be selected for the trip of their choice. Students may make payments to their account to meet this requirement and therefore have a higher possibility of being placed on one of their selected trips, especially if it is a more expensive, high demand trip. 100
