1 /TODAY S STUDY The CREATOR Makes a Promise through Resurrection\ We continue our study of the CREATOR with the third stop on the CREATOR CLOCK [CREATOR CLOCK SLIDE] Tick Tock. What time is it on the Creator Clock? It s three o clock as we continue our journey into the Triune nature of our God. The second person of the Trinity, God the Son, is the sponsor of Resurrection. At the Cross, the Lord Jesus Christ provided the possibility of reconciliation to pay for the disobedience of fallen creatures. On Resurrection Day, the fact that He is Risen makes Him the unique person of the universe, the only One resurrected so far, the One who provides the promise of resurrection. The life of the Lord Jesus Christ begins and culminates with Resurrection. What is resurrection? /RESURRECTION The moment when a person moves from physical death to a resurrection body or from an interim body to a resurrection body, never to experience physical death again.\ What is the promise of Resurrection? /Resurrection provides the promise that once we return from the dead the condemnation of spiritual death, we will never die again. Let s take a look at some of the things the Lord Jesus Christ went through during His life, on your behalf, to ensure that you could take advantage of the promise of Resurrection. 2 /The Beginning of Jesus Spiritual Education\ /LUK 2:46-47 Then, after three days they (His parents) found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.//and all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers.\ This is the attraction phase. All are enamored with the promise of youth. /The Beginning of Jesus Ministry\ /MAT 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.\ We have studied the first eleven verses of Matthew Four when we studied CONTEXT. The Lord Jesus Christ s three year earthly ministry began with a test which few could pass. /The Obedient Life is the Life of a Servant\ The Lord s life made a statement in the wilderness under the pressure of Satan s testing the magnificent life is the obedient life the life of a servant. /JOH 13:14-17 If (1) I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet (and it s true), you also ought to wash one another's feet.//for I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.//truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him.//if (1) you know these things (and you do), you are blessed if you do them. 3 / Holy Week The Beginning of the End\ /JOH 13:1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.\ The so called Holy Week, which was really hell week for the Lord Jesus Christ had many twists and turns on the way to the Resurrection /TUESDAY The Prediction of Betrayal\ /JOH 13:21 When Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit, and testified and said, Truly, truly, I say to you, that one of you will betray Me. \ /The Last Supper\ A final meal with His disciples in the upper room started the most significant week in history. /LUK 22:14-16 When the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him.//And He said to them, I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;//for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God. \ /LUK 22:19 And when He (Jesus Christ) had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, This is My body which is given (as a substitute) for you; (keep on) do(ing) this in remembrance of Me. \ /1CO 11:25 In the same way He (Jesus Christ) took the cup also after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in My blood; (keep on) do(ing) this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me. \ APRIL 3, Barah Ministries, Inc. 4 The Lord Jesus Christ is teaching the disciples, through the Celebration of the Lord s Supper, that they have an indivisible relationship with God UNITY. /Final Instructions to the Disciples The Upper Room Discourse\ In John Chapter 15, the Lord Jesus Christ gives three final instructions to His disciples. /Abide in Me\ /JOH 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. \ The first lesson the entire premise of the Angelic Conflict is that a breach of fellowship with the Creator is Catastrophe. /Love Others\ /JOH 15:12 This is My commandment (mandate request), that you love one another (unconditionally), just as I have loved you (unconditionally). The second lesson others before self the Lord loves creatures unconditionally, else there would have been no possibility of salvation after the betrayal of disobedience. /Hate the Cosmic System\ /JOH 15:19 If (2) you were of the world (which you are not), the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world (the residents of the cosmic system) hates you. \ /JOH 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you, A slave is not greater than his master. 5 /The Arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane\ /JOH 18:1 When Jesus had spoken these words, He went forth with His disciples over the ravine of the Kidron, where there was a garden (Gethsemane), in which He entered with His disciples.\ /JOH 17:1 Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You \ Now a quick flashback to the Upper Room Discourse /JOH 13:18 I do not speak of all of you. 6 /JOH 13:37-38 Peter said to Him, Lord, why can I not follow You right now? I will lay down my life for You. //Jesus answered, Will you lay down your life for Me (Peter)? Truly, truly, I say to you, a cock shall not crow, until you deny Me three times. \ Peter was devastated by his humanity yet he recovered BREAK /The Scourging\ /JOH 19:1 Pilate then took Jesus and scourged Him.\ Jesus received forty lashes from a whip with metal on the ends /The Trial A False Accusation\ Just like in the appeal trail, the false accusation against the Character of Christ /JOH 19:4 And Pilate came out again, and said to them, Behold, I am bringing Him out to you, that you may know that I find no guilt in Him. \ /JOH 19:16-18 So he (Pontius Pilate) then handed Him (the Lord Jesus Christ) over to them to be crucified.//they took Jesus, therefore, and He went out, bearing His own Cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha.//There they crucified Him, and with Him two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between.\ /WEDNESDAY Crucifixion Day\ The promise of reconciliation APRIL 3, Barah Ministries, Inc. 7 /PHI 2:8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.\ /ACT 8:32 Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this: HE WAS LED AS A SHEEP TO SLAUGHTER; AND AS A LAMB BEFORE ITS SHEARER IS SILENT, SO HE DOES NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH. \ The Lord Jesus Christ did not waste his time defending Himself to people who would never listen. /Substitutionary Spiritual Death on the Cross\ God the Father is unconditional in His love toward us, through God the Son /ROM 5:8 But God (the Father) demonstrates His own love toward us (all mankind), in that while we were yet sinners (condemned by spiritual death unbelievers) Christ died (a substitutionary spiritual death as a substitute) for us.\ The possibility of reconciliation is open to all not just to some /1PE 3:18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit\ The Lord Jesus Christ paid for our sins with His true humanity /1CO 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, This is My body, which is (given up as a substitute) for you; do this in remembrance of Me. \ God the Father made His Son a sin substitute APRIL 3, Barah Ministries, Inc. 8 /2CO 5:21 He (God the Father) made Him (the Lord Jesus Christ) who knew no sin (nature) to be (a) sin (substitute) on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. The Cross also purchased our freedom from the slave market of spiritual death and condemnation /GAL 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us for it is written, CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE \ The Cross provided the blessing of absolute righteousness, a guarantee that we could never break relationship with God again /1PE 2:24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.\ The only solution to broken relationships is UN unconditional love and forgiveness /LUK 23:34 But Jesus was saying, Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing. And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.\ /Physical Death on the Cross\ After the Cross, the Lord Jesus Christ would lay in a grave for three days on your behalf /MAT 12:40 for just as JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE SEA MONSTER, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.\ Then the resurrection APRIL 3, Barah Ministries, Inc. 9 /LUK 9:22 saying, The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day. \ /LUK 18:33 and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him; and the third day He will rise again.\ /LUK 24:7 saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.\ /LUK 24:46 and He said to them, Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day \ /JOH 2:17-19 His disciples remembered that it was written, ZEAL FOR YOUR HOUSE WILL CONSUME ME. //The Jews then said to Him, What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things? //Jesus answered them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. /JOH 2:20 The Jews then said, It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days? //But He was speaking of the temple of His body.\ /Tetelestai Salvation!\ /JOH 19:30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, It is finished! 11 in the spirit;//in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison\ /1PE 3:20-21 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.//corresponding to that, baptism now saves you not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ\ He went to Paradise to get the Old Testament believers as well /LUK 23:39-41 And he (the repentant thief) was saying, Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom! //And He (the Lord Jesus Christ) said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise. \ /EPH 4:8 Therefore it says, WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN. \ / SUNDAY The Resurrection He is Risen Trichotomy Rejoined in a Resurrection Body\ /Resurrection The act of rising from the dead, never to experience death again\ /MAT 28:5-7 The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.//he is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. 12 /1PE 1:20-21 For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you//who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.\ /Ascension The transfer of our Lord's true humanity from planet earth to the third heaven in a resurrection body occurred after forty days on earth\ Before His ascension, He met with His apostles /ACT 10:40-41 God (the Father) raised Him (the Lord Jesus Christ) up on the third day and granted that He become visible,// not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen beforehand by God, that is, to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.\ /ACT 1:9-10 And after He had said these things (the announcement of Church Age) He (the Lord Jesus Christ) was lifted up (ascension) before their very eyes, and a cloud hid Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently up in the sky as He was going, behold two men (angels) dressed in white stood beside them.\ /ACT 1:11 And they also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand staring into the sky? 13 /1PE 3:21-22 Jesus Christ,//who is at the right hand of God (the Father), having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.\ /EPH 1:20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places\ /HEB 12:2 keep on concentrating on (the Lord) Jesus Christ, who brings us to the supergrace life by means of the bible doctrine in our souls, who instead of remaining in a state of happiness (+H) \ / because of the doctrine resident in His soul, endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and is seated in the place of highest honor at the right hand of the throne of God (the Father)\ God the Son, the second person of the Trinity, executes to perfection at the Cross and through resurrection.
