We Worship Thee 1. We worship thee, O Crucified! What glories didst thou lay aside; What depth of human grief and sin Didst thou consent to languish in, That through atoning blood outpoured Our broken peace might be restored! Albert Orsborn 1986 The Salvation Army CCLI 56448
We Worship Thee 2. We mourn that e'er our Hearts should be One with a world that loves not thee; That with the crowd we passed thee by And saw, but did not feel, thee die. Not till we knew our guilt and shame Did we esteem the Saviour's name. Albert Orsborn 1986 The Salvation Army CCLI 56448
We Worship Thee 3. Though with our shame we Shunned the light, Thou didst not leave us in the night; We were not left in sin to stray Unsought, unloved, from thee away; For from thy cross irradiates Albert Orsborn 1986 The Salvation Army CCLI 56448
We Worship Thee 4. O loved above all earthly love, To thee our hearts adoring move; Thy boundless mercies yearn to save And in thy blood sin's wounds to lave. O speed the day when men shall see That human hopes are all in thee. Albert Orsborn 1986 The Salvation Army CCLI 56448

Darkness
This is the message he has give us to announce to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. For God, who said, Let there be light in the darkness, has made us understand that this light is the brightness of the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ; Open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God s people, who are set apart by faith in me. 1 John 1:5; 2 Cor 4:6; Acts 26:18
Lord, deliver me from the darkness of my own way. Place your truth within me so I may know you and your ways. I want to come out of my hiding and walk with you in your light. I know that nothing is hidden from you; you know me inside and out. I release every lie and deception that has kept me from you. Thank you that you can take me from the kingdom of darkness and place me into the kingdom of light. I welcome your light and love into my life. AMEN

How deep the Father s love How deep the Father s love for us How vast beyond all measure That he should give his only Son To make a wretch his treasure How great the pain of searing loss The Father turns his face away As wounds which mar the chosen one Bring many sons to glory Stuart Townsend 1995 Kingsway s Thankyou Music
Behold the man upon a cross My sin upon his shoulders; Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers It was my sin that held him there Until it was accomplished; His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished
I will not boast in anything No gifts, no pow r, no wisdom; But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection Why should I gain from his reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom

Guilt
As it is written, there is none righteous, not even one, But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed! All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the guilt and sins of us all. But God demonstrates his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God s wonderful kindness rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 3:10;Isaiah 53:5;Rom 5:8; Rom 3:23;5:21
Lord, I know my sin sent you to the cross. I thank you that you didn t just die for the world; you died for me. I know I am the guilty one. Everything I deserved was placed on you without excuse, knowing I am fully responsible for my own sin. Thank you that through your wounds I have found mercy and by them I can be healed. AMEN.

Repentance
He (John) came into the district around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, there is one message for Jews and Gentiles alike the necessity of turning from sin and turning to God, and of faith in our Lord Jesus. Jesus tells us, I tell you there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who returns to God, than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. Luke 3:3; Acts 20:21; Luke 15:7
Lord, at the heart of my sin is the desire to have my own way. I choose to turn from my way to your way, from my plans to your purposes, from my independence to your Lordship. I am sorry for the ways I have hurt you. As I turn to you I hope in your truth and your love. I place my life in your hands for you to make me into the person you have created me to be. Lord, have mercy on me. AMEN.

Strength
Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. The Lord will give strength to his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace. Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with my righteous hand. Psalm 55:22; Psalm 73:26; Isaiah 41:10
Lord, I know if there is anything good that comes from my life, it will be you doing it in and through me. I believe you have me in your hands and will keep me close to your heart. You are my hope, my fortress and my strength. AMEN.

Justification
He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins and gave us a new life through the Holy Spirit. God has purchased our freedom with his blood and has forgiven all our sins. Since we have been made right in God s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God s judgement. Titus 3:5; Col 1:14; Rom 5:9
Lord, I praise you that I can stand before you guilt free. What a great salvation you have brought me by your blood. You didn t just pity me, you came to take every judgement I deserved; you haven t just forgiven me, you have regarded my sin as though it never happened. You are my wonderful Saviour and I am grateful. You did it all, just for me. Thank you Lord. AMEN.

A Prayer for Good Friday Taken from A Cry for Mercy By Henri J. Nouwen
O dear Lord, what can I say to you on this holy day? Is there any word that could come from my mouth, any thought, any sentence? You died for me, you gave all for my sins, you not only became man for me but also suffered the most cruel death for me. Is there any response?
I wish that I could find a fitting response, but in contemplating your Holy Passion and Death I can only confess humbly to you that the immensity of your divine love makes any response seem totally inadequate.
Let me just stand and look at you. Your body is broken, your head is wounded, your hands and feet are split open by nails, your side is pierced.
It is all over now. It is finished. It is fulfilled. It is accomplished.
Sweet Lord, gracious Lord, Generous Lord, forgiving Lord, I adore you, I praise you, I thank you.
You have made all things new through your passion and death. Your cross has been planted in this world as the new sign of hope. Let me always live under your cross, O Lord, and proclaim the hope of your cross unceasingly. Amen

Growth
I am the vine, you are the branches; those who remain in me, and I in them will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness & self-control; For he has rescued us from the one who rules in the kingdom of darkness, and he has brought us into the Kingdom of his dear son. God has purchased our freedom with his blood and has forgiven all our sins. Those who have become Christians become new people. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun. John 15:5; Galations 5:22; Col 1:13, 14; 2 Cor 5:17
Lord, thank you for the good work that you have begun in me. Thank you that I am alive in you because of the life of the Holy Spirit within me. I want to rest in your love and abide in your presence. I want to grow in faith and see your life formed in me. Thank you for giving me new life. Thank you for delivering me from darkness into the light of your love. AMEN.
