1 THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME October 23, 2016 October is Respect Life Month Month of the Rosary - Disability Awareness Month NEXT SATURDAY Installation of the Seventh (7th) Pastor NEXT Saturday October 29th, the tradition of our beloved parish begins a new chapter! Our Pastor, Fr. Brendan A. Fitzgerald will be installed as the 7th Pastor of St. Barnabas Parish at the 5:00pm Mass in the High School Chapel. A reception with an opportunity to greet and congratulate Fr. Fitzgerald will follow in the High School Cafeteria. We encourage all parishioners make every effort to attend this special Mass and to join our parish family in marking the initiation of this new and exciting chapter in the life of our beloved parish! TRAGIC NECESSITY NEW OFFICE HOURS AS FOLLOWS: Saturdays - 9:00am to 8:00pm (closing for lunch from 12:30pm to 2:00pm) Sundays - 9:00am to 6:00pm (closing for lunch from 12:30pm to 2:00pm) Monday through Friday -9:00am to 8:00pm (closing for lunch from 12:30pm to 1:30pm) These words are sometimes used with reference to abortion, and well they might be, at least with regard to tragic, although perhaps not to necessity. At least rarely. For when is it necessary to kill the helpless, the innocent, the defenseless? Cecile Richards, of Planned Parenthood infamy, said recently, It s an exciting thing to hear women tell their abortion stories. We know that PP and NARAL are committed to normalizing the provision and commission of abortion, but there is a distinct absence of the tragic in Richards rhetoric, and that is truly tragic. It is cruel to call the abortion industry a form of reproductive health, or justice or rights because of the linguistic abuse involved; it is infinitely more cruel to laud the accounting of an intrinsically evil act as exciting. Fr. Brendan A. Fitzgerald Pastor, St. Barnabas, Bronx, NY INSTRUCTION CLASSES Parents wishing to have their children baptized at Saint Barnabas must attend one of the classes that are held normally on the second and fourth Monday of each month prior to arranging the child s baptism. th The next class will be held on Monday, October 24 in the Elementary School Cafeteria at 8:00pm. No registration necessary. Baptisms are conducted every Sunday at 1:00pm in the Main Church Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind Fundraiser Sunday, October 23rd 2:00pm-7:00pm at Rory Dolan's, Music, Food, and Dance Suggested Donation $30.00 For further information please call Margaret Fogarty (914) or Jim Normaly (718)
