1 February 2015 Volume 12 Issue 2 Theme: Meeting The Challenges With Spiritual Wisdom Matthew 10:16-26 Inside this issue Words From The Pastor Youth Ministry New To Our Family Upcoming Events
2 From The Pastor Everyone Wants to Be Loved No matter what a person might say to the contrary, everyone wants to be loved. Many people today live sad lives because they don t feel loved. I don t know about anyone else, but I need to know that somebody loves me! There is a human need, a deep desire and longing for love that we just can t escape in this life. God created us to love and fellowship with one another. The one place where one can find love should be in the local church. The other day I was asked the following question: What should I look for when seeking a church home? My reply was simple, look for love. If the people in a local church love, everything else will follow. When there is love in a church the greatest desire will be to obey God. In fact Christians are commanded to love one another. The driving force behind Christian service is love. Love will never fail (1 Cor. 13). We all know that God loves us and proved that love by giving His only Son so that we could be saved. But we need the love of others as well. Brothers and sisters we cannot live only for ourselves. We must live for each other. This means that we must love each other. When we love loves returns. Love is a powerful emotion and it produces powerful emotions in others. God is love and we should love Him and others, because He loved us first. So love somebody, because whether you admit it or not somebody loves you! Your Servant Leader, O. Wendell Davis Page 2 We are delighted to have you fellowship with us today and hope that our services will serve as an inspiration to you during the coming week. We hope that when you entered our doors, you felt a sweet, sweet spirit of warmth and love. Union Chapel is the church with a big heart of LOVE; where everybody is somebody, and JESUS CHRIST is the HEAD! If you are new to our community, a cordial invitation is extended to you to prayerfully consider becoming a member of our church family.

4 Youth Ministry Teen s Church and Youth Mentoring Ministry The Youth Ministry is excited to introduce two new ministries to our youth: Teen s Church, for Youth ages and Youth Mentoring Ministry, for children ages The new ministries will allow us to have more time with the children and youth to further help them strengthen their relationship with the Lord. We want our children to not only have a relationship with Christ, but we want them to be able to apply the Holy Word to their everyday life. The mission of the Teen s Church is to edify and strengthen young souls by creating an atmosphere of worship to the Lord at their level of understanding. Our goal is to allow the youth to minister to the lord through praise and worship, dance and the word that is preached or taught by a Youth Leader. The mission of the Youth Mentoring Program is to be Godly examples in the lives of young people by guiding and encouraging them to build a foundation for spiritual growth and life based on God s Word. The goal of the ministry is to create a spiritual and personal one on one relationship between the mentor and mentee. The ministries will continue to undergird the vision given by God to our pastor, Dr. O. Wendell Davis. In the Youth Ministry, we want to continue to provide opportunities for our children to grow spiritually and to cultivate their relationship with our Heavenly Father. The youth leaders are encouraging children and parents to take advantage of the ministry opportunities available to them through the Youth Ministry, where we always seek called to work with children and youth. To learn more about how you can get involved, please contact our Youth Minister, Min. Marquis Thompson or our Youth Director, Sis. Doris Ford. The Youth Ministry encourages children, collegiate age, and young adults to participate in our weekly Bible Study Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. Youth classes for ages 3 to 18 are held in the church basement. Collegiate age/young adult class for ages 18 to 30 are held in the former Library. Page 4
