God is already working in this New Year in great ways in Barnes Evangelistic Ministries and The Gospel Radio Network. He is faithful and continues to use our megger efforts to see souls saved and Christians and churches edified and succeed in their work of getting the Gospel to the world. Thank you for your prayers and support! Jan. 7-9 The Fresh Start Sword Conference was held at our home church (Tricounty B.C., of Senoia, GA.) with Pastor Doug Anderson hosting. Dr. Shelton Smith and Evangelist Justin Cooper preached and our family was honored to help with the singing. The Lord started the year off just right with some spirit-filled Bible preaching that stirred our hearts to serve God better this year. TO GOD BE THE GLORY! Jan. 10 The Lord allowed our ministry to obtain our own personal postal permit. The cost of mailing is very expensive these days and with the permit we get a 50% price break. This helps us save God s funds on our bulk mailing cost, Praise the Lord. (Read about blessings on the radio station ministry inside). Jan Pastor, Dr. Mike Allison invited our family to take part in the annual Super Conference he host at The Madison Baptist Church in Madison, AL. We enjoyed the great Bible preaching of several pastors and evangelists each of the five nights of the conference. Each message was an inspiring challenge. Our family helped with singing and Evan was honored to lead the congregational singing for Dr. Allison. God has and is using Dr. Allison to give the people of Madison a fundamental, Bible preaching, soul winning church to attend. May God build this kind of church all over America! Great week! Feb Our good friend Dr. Myron McIntyre invited our family to preach and sing for I Love Jesus Day at the Faith Independent Baptist Church in McDonough, GA. Dr. McIntyre started the church several years ago and he, his family and the fine people have been faithful to the Lord and God is blessing their work for Jesus. Feb. 12 Pastor Bobby Roberson graduated to his home in Heaven! Feb. 18, 22, The Lord gave us the opportunity to spend some time at our home church in Jan. & Feb. We had Missions Conference on these days and the Lord blessed in a special way. We heard Brother Don Jackson preach and several missionaries shared their burden for world evangelism with the church. Radio Ministry UP-DATE Give the winds a mighty voice, Jesus Saves, Jesus Saves In our last Shield of Faith ministry newsletter (Nov. & Dec.) we reported that local radio station WEYY 88.7FM in west Georgia and The Gospel Radio Network internet station will begin our sixth year of broadcasting on May 24, The blessings of the Lord have truly abounded in these first five years. God has made all the radio ministry very fruitful and effective in getting the Gospel to the world and helping churches and Christians by way of radio. We know we have listeners in 173 countries around the world and in all 50 states. We believe we have the best fundamental Bible preachers in the world today, men that, not only, preach the Bible but practice the Word of God in their lives. We believe we have the most inspired, sacred and Christ honoring music you will find. Our music does not come from any music industry of professional artist or paid entertainers. Our music comes from FUNDAMENTAL CHURCHES all across America and sung or played by people that are active servants in their local churches. October 4-14, 2018 the great State of Georgia will hold its National Fair in Perry, GA. Evangelist Gary Barnes and the Barnes Evangelistic Ministries is making plans now to go soul winning for the eleven days for our 22 nd year at the Fair. Through the years we have seen thousands of lost people receive Christ as Savior and many more had heard the Gospel and God s plan of salvation. This is not an inexpensive venture. 3 Pastor Bobby Roberson with Christ Robert Eugene Bobby Roberson, 86, went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2018, after a four-month bout with cancer. He was married to Jacquelyn White Roberson for 66 years until her death in Brother Bobby (as he preferred to be called) pastored the great Gospel Light Baptist Church of Walkertown, N.C. for over 61 years. He was often called America s Pastor. His life verse was Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. He knew how to rely on Christ s strength to enable him to do the work God gave him to do. Brother Bobby was a kind, generous, loving, faithful, dedicated and sacrificial servant of the Lord. But, he knew how to stand for what is right and give us all an example of grace, truth and loyalty to Christ. Brother Bobby had a heart for people. His unwavering character, wisdom and friendliness was obvious in the way he lived his life. He even knew the value of a good-ole tomato sandwich. Brother Bobby was a personal friend to my family and myself. There are too many times to list here that he was a blessing and help to our family. Even though we know he is in a much better place and he is now with the precious ONE he preached about so long, he will be missed in the days ahead. Please keep praying for the Roberson family and the church family as they press-on to follow the Lord and His will. We know Brother Bobby wouldn t come back if he could. He is with Mrs. Jackie and other family members, but most of all he is with his dear Savior. The best tribute we could pay to Brother Bobby is to strive to love the Lord, love the church and the lost and to follow the King James Bible he preached. Here is a list of principles about the ministry Brother Bobby gave to a group of preachers: 1. Wait on the Lord. 2. Depend on the Holy Spirit. 3. In my flesh dwelleth no good thing. 4. Always be yourself. 5. Do not believe everything you hear. 6. Overcome evil with good. 7. Do not show partiality. 8. Go the extra mile. 9. Realize that you cannot do everything overnight. 10. Do not try to protect yourself. 11. Be harmless, yet wise. 12. Keep your convictions. 13. Do not get greedy. 14. We must practice soul winning. 15. Pray and study. Good advice, Brother Bobby! 3

7 Things that are DIFFERENT are NOT the SAME (My Watch) Ten years ago for my 6oth birthday my family wanted to do something special for me. We decided to drive into Atlanta and visit all the old neighborhoods where I lived as a boy. All of them were located near Little Five Points or East Atlanta. We never owned a house and from the time I was 3-14 years old my Dad and Mom moved my sister and me several times. I attended seven different elementary schools. One neighborhood where we lived when I was a boy of 9-13 years of age (In fact, we lived in this neighborhood when I was saved at 11) held many of my most cherished and fondest childhood memories. In almost every house there was 2-5 kids. We would come together and choose sides and play ball in someone s yard. Many summer nights were spent laying on the grass counting the stars, telling ghost stories or playing kick-thecan or hide-and-seek in the street under the lights. Even as children we never feared we would be attacked or in harm s way. Every child just thought about having fun! When my family drove back through the very same neighborhood it was nothing like it was in my childhood years. All the houses now were run-down and ragged. The screen doors were either off or hanging loose on the hinges. Where Mr. Smith once had hedges that were so trimmed and neat they looked like a flat top hair-cut, now they were torn down and only the stumps left. No children were playing, throwing balls or running in the streets. Only dirt had now taken the place of the finely cut grass on the yards. My heart was broken! All my fond memories were tarnished and somewhat spoiled because of what my old childhood neighborhood had become. When I saw my old neighborhood and what it has become I am reminded of what the devil wants to do to all fundamental Bible preaching churches. If you know anything about our fundamental history you know he has destroyed some of our churches of the past that once stood like citadels of righteousness and holy light to the world. I remember a time when almost every state in America could report that the fastest growing church, the largest Sunday school and the most fruitful church in their state were independent fundamental Baptist churches. All these churches preached the King James Bible; developed a personal relationship with Jesus; practiced soul winning; had people saved and baptized almost every week; presented music that honored Christ and emphasized psalms, hymns and spiritual songs; practiced and taught dress standards that exalted holiness and separation from the world; and trained families to function by biblical principles. Most of these churches didn t feel it was necessary to have yearly revivals, they had revival every Sunday. It seems some of our churches of today have lost their original power, purpose, direction, influence and effectiveness. Things are changing and not for the better. More people are NOT getting saved and our impact on a sinful wicked world is NOT as great. I pray every day that God would give us young pastors all over America and the world that would stand for and hold to the old ways of church building. The devil wants to destroy the neighborhood. It doesn t take long for sin, disease and decay to take over and change God s church. I believe it would be pleasing to God to determine in our hearts --- by the grace of Almighty God it will not happen on my watch. A Thought for Pastors One of the greatest traits of our Savior was His ability to WORK with and LEAD PEOPLE. Work and LEAD! People are different. What works with one may not work at all with another. Develop people skills. Study people. The success of a pastor is very often based on how well he works with people. Love people. I will follow a man (regardless of his age) a lot easier if I know he loves and cares for me. I ll love him and stand for him when adversity comes. He is MY pastor! II Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves Could this be the reason some churches cancel Wednesday night and Sunday night services? You are a sinner because you have broken God s law. 2. You must BELIEVE and realize there is a PAYMENT (penalty) for SIN: Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; Just as there are wages for good, there is punishment for wrong. The penalty for our sin is eternal separation from God in Hell. 3. You must BELIEVE Christ died and rose again for YOU: Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 4. You must BELIEVE that ETERNAL LIFE is a free GIFT which YOU receive by FAITH in JESUS: Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. A GIFT cannot be worked for; it must be RECEIVED by putting your FAITH in what JESUS did for YOU on the cross. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Everlasting life is a gift purchased by the blood of Jesus and offered freely to those who call upon Him by faith. Why not pray right now and ask Jesus to save you? Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner. Please forgive me for my sins. I now trust you as my personal Savior. Come into my heart and save my soul from Hell. Please take me to Heaven when I die. Thank you for saving me, Jesus. Amen. CONGRATULATIONS! Gen. 41: God wants to advance every believer (2 Pet. 3:18). 3. THE ACTIVITY of the THRONE LIFE Gen. 41: Joseph went out into the field (Matt. 4:4; Mark 16:15). 4. THE ATTITUDE of the THRONE LIFE. Gen. 45: The Throne Life Is an Attitude of a. FREENESS (Matt. 10:8). B. FULLNESS (John 6: 1-14). C. FORGIVENESS (Gen. 50:20). God has made it possible for anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as Savior to live The Throne Life. 8
