But because Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose again, when we trust in Him as our Savior, we are saved from sin. We also have the sure hope that when we die, He will raise us up and give us new bodies so we can live forever in heaven with Him. 3 If you look out the window and see someone breaking into your neighbor s car, do you call: your shoe? your pillow? the police? Of course you call the police. Your shoe and pillow aren t alive and can t help you. Jesus Christ died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins. But if Jesus had stayed dead, He couldn t help us. READ 1 CORINTHIANS 15:17. This verse says that if Jesus Christ didn t rise from the dead, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. What does this mean? (Futile means useless, worth nothing. ) But 1 Corinthians 15:20 tells us that Jesus Christ DID rise from the dead. This is called the resurrection. Jesus had to come alive again to save us from our sins. Because Jesus is alive right now, He gives us power to live a life that obeys God. And His resurrection does not only give us hope for this life on earth. It also gives us hope that we will get the things Jesus has promised to give us in the future. 118 NIV

4 We have hope that one day Jesus will give us perfect, new bodies. READ PHILIPPIANS 3: Whose body will the Lord Jesus transform (change) our bodies to be like? The Bible says our bodies in heaven will never grow old or die. They won t be hungry, thirsty, or tired. They will never get hurt or sick. READ TITUS 3:7. Because Jesus Christ rose from the dead, we have the hope of. We sometimes use the word hope to mean that we want something but don t know if we will get it, like when we say we hope we get a bike for Christmas. But when the Bible tells us things to hope for like a new body and eternal life we can know FOR SURE we will get them! Christ s resurrection means that you have a lot of hope for your future, after your life on earth is over. What things are you looking forward to most about your future with Christ? 119 NIV
