2 FROM THE GRAND KNIGHT... Dear brother knights, Our big Golf event of the year is fast approaching next month if not signed up for a position please do so. I have been getting my annual gifts from customers and mfgs that I work for...i thought for a moment about all the years and how much has been donated Truely a story of hard work and dedicated members. I tell this to many throughout the year each time I get asked, who are the knights and what do they do?...please pass the word as often as we can it truley can make the difference of what people think of the Knights...Moving forward I would like some thoughts on how we can get more to attend our meetings. I would like to get more of those that seem to not make it,asking would a reminder call help or Maybe a few more times we bring a dish...again this is a area we can improve on. Last we try and keep the meetings a hour long and it does count for towards the 24 hours of being a Knight..Any input of ideas me or better One last thing we are working on a Knight or a Lady to chair up the concession this week. Any one intrested in working or heading this myself or Jim Cunningham this week... God bless all of our Knights and ladies. Steve Mackanos SR Grand Knight.
3 FROM OUR LECTURER... The following Meditation was taken from "The Word Among Us." July 5, 2016 Break up for yourselves a new field. (Hosea 10:12) Ask any farmer, and he ll tell you how important it is to till a field before you plant your seeds. Tilling softens the earth, reduces weeds, mixes nutrients in the soil, and exposes pests so that they can be removed. Naturally, a farmer is willing to go through the hard work of tilling his fields; he wants the harvest to be as fruitful as possible. Well, God is like that farmer as he tends the field of our hearts. He wants to see a bountiful harvest, but he first needs to break up the ground and turn over the soil. Unlike a farmer, however, he won t do it without our cooperation. That s how we break up for ourselves a new field, as Hosea put it by inviting the Lord to come in and giving him the freedom to work in us. The idea of letting God break up the soil of our hearts can be scary. But it s not too intimidating if you think like a farmer and focus on the crop to come the character of Christ! Don t be afraid to ask him to work the soil. Ask him to break up any hardness in your heart and root out any apathy. Tell him that you want to bear fruit for him. On a practical level, this would mean starting each morning by asking the Holy Spirit to be a part of your day. Then, as the day progresses, pay attention to situations that challenge you. It could be dealing with a child s temper tantrums or a co-worker s gossip. It could be caring for an aging relative or comforting a friend in distress. Whatever it is, see it as an opportunity to let the Spirit soften your heart a little bit more. The change doesn t have to be grandiose. Just make a little adjustment each day, and the fruit will start growing. You ll become more convinced of Jesus love. You ll become more forgiving and patient. You ll become more alert to the needs of the people around you. God, the perfect farmer, is ready and waiting. Let his kingdom take deeper root in your heart! Lord, come and break up any hardness in my heart so that I can receive the seeds you want to plant. Thank you for your love and faithfulness. Psalm 105:2-7 Matthew 10:1-7

5 Feast Day Of St. Michael The Archangel September 29th Saint Michael the Archangel is an angel, and the leader of all angels and of the army of God. This is what the title "Archangel" means, that he is above all the others in rank. St. Michael has four main responsibilities or offices, as we know from scripture and Christian tradition. The first is to combat Satan. The second is to escort the faithful to heaven at their hour of death. The third is to be a champion of all Christians, and the Church itself. And the fourth is to call men from life on Earth to their heavenly judgment. Very little is known about St Michael other than what we know from scriptures, which themselves are sparse. In Daniel, St. Michael is mentioned twice. The first time as one who helped Daniel, and the second time he is mentioned with regard to the end times of the world when he will stand for the "children of thy people." His next mention comes in the Epistle of St. Jude, where St. Michael is said to guard the tombs of Moses and Eve and has contended with Satan over the body of Moses. The final mention is in Revelation, where St. Michael and his angels, do battle with the dragon. There are other scriptures where St. Michael is implied, but not mentioned by name, such as the angel; who defends the gate to Paradise, who defends against Balaam, and "who routed the army of Sennacherib." Today, St. Michel is invoked for protection, especially from lethal enemies. He is also the patron of soldiers, police and doctors. The above article was taken from Catholic Online

Saint Michael the Archangel. St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
