The Blood Mobile will be in the parking lot on the west side of the Ministry Center. If you are willing and able to donate, we encourage you to participate, as the Center is always in need of blood. You MAY even save a life! For more information, or to schedule an appointment, please contact Sandy Overton at church or at New Genesis Meal Your Mission Team will be serving the New Genesis Meal on Sunday, March 17. A sign-up sheet for food, cooks and servers is on the bulletin board. Please consider going with us to serve, especially if you have never participated. The carpool will leave from the church about 5 and return about 7. Your prayers and support are appreciated. For more information, call Colleen Miller Passing Hats Come join us on March 19 at 9:30. Every third Tuesday we are making hats for cancer patients. We use a round loom so it s really easy. We ll even show you how. Questions: call Nancy Stephens Presbyterian Preschool Winter at preschool has been anything but chilly! This season is a great time for science projects such as making snow and coffee filter snowflakes in the classroom and planting holiday bulbs to measure their growth progress, as we await their blooms. January was a month full of dinosaur studies and all things stock show. We have a new student from Minnesota, named Lincoln, who has fit right in and is certainly not at all worried about our weather during the winter months! The teachers are working toward completing our required 15 hours of continued studies in the Early Childhood Education area. February was a month of holiday fun, concepts, a rain science project, tours and parent conferences; while March will entail the study of weather, Reading Across America/Dr. Seuss, the sea, and Corduroy/teddy bear activities. Question of the season: Does the classroom noise level rise during the snowy, chilly days?

4 Fellowship News Women s Breakfast Saturday, March 16 th 9:00-10:00 am in the Fellowship Hall Please join us for a morning breakfast filled with good food and good friends. This is a time we are blessed to get to know one-another better, share heart-warming stories, both happy and sad, and connect as only Presbyterian Women Can Do! You don t need to bring anything (food and drinks will be provided). As always, you are welcome to bring a guest. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, March 16 th! 5 th Sunday Potluck Sunday, March 31 st Following the 9:30 am service in the Ministry Building Mark your calendars March 31 st is our traditional 5 th Sunday Service (10:00 am only) followed by an incredibly delicious potluck brunch with foods prepared with love by our own PCB Members! Interested in Joining our Church? Come to the new members and inquirers class between services at 9:30 in Pastor s office. There are three classes - 3/3, 3/10, 3/17. Welcoming celebration on 3/24. YOUTH NEWS Mission trip day to the " A Precious Child" new warehouse. Thursday, March 28 at 1:00 pm. This is a multi-generational project, so please let me know if you are interested in going. The more hands, the better! We will meet at the church and carpool to APC. Our youth project for this spring is "Godspell Jr." If you are not familiar with Godspell, it is an amazing Broadway musical, with the parables of Jesus!!! This will involve elementary through high school youth. We are penciled in for the weekend of April 12 & 13. More details coming soon. Questions, contact Susan dramamama4578@comcast.net Rehearsals are Wednesdays 6:00-7:30 & Saturdays 4:00-6:00. Youth Spring Garage Sale This is a major fundraiser for all of our youth programs. All of the proceeds go to the youth drama, curriculum, scripts, costumes, music, props, food, Highlands Camp scholarships, Highlands Music Art and Drama Camp for middle & high school ages. Thank you to our wonderful committee that works so hard to make this worth all of the dirty work. We are accepting your good reusable donations the week starting Monday, April 22 in the Ministry Center. The sale will be Wednesday - Saturday, April Extra hands are always welcome, and food donations also appreciated to keep our energy up. Watch for the sign-up sheets in the church lobby. We will have groups for ages 4 years old to entering 5th grade. Leadership training event details and supply lists coming soon.

5 Kids Hope USA Thank you to all of our current and upcoming mentors and prayer partners who support this ministry partnership with Emerald Elementary School. We have had an amazing school year so far, but there is still so much to do! We always have a waiting list full of adorable children in need of extra help, good advice and a friend. Mentors, please remember to check the website for additional resources specific for your student. SPRING BREAK FOR KIDS HOPE: No school March Also, there is the mentor app available for Iphones or Androids. The following is a press release from our Kids Hope National Office: The Kids Hope USA Board of Directors today announced the start of a search for a new President to lead their national nonprofit organization, headquartered in Zeeland. Current President & CEO David Staal plans to step out of his role late this spring, yet will continue to serve Kids Hope USA as a Board member. Kids Hope USA partners churches with schools across the country to operate mentoring programs, which the Zeeland-based organization equips and supports. In addition to their Michigan office, Kids Hope USA serves its national network through offices in Illinois, Texas, Georgia, Ohio, and Colorado. David Staal s decade-plus tenure as our leader has been nothing less than transformational, said Douglas Ruch, Kids Hope USA Board Chair. We grew from mentoring a few thousand students primarily in West Michigan, to now reaching over 25,000 students across 36 states. Based on demand, our best days remain in front of us; thousands of schools now wait for our program. We recently completed a comprehensive re-engineering of both our mentoring model and the overall organization, said David Staal. Looking ahead, the Board and I see this exciting new season as the right time to transition to a new President. The last quarter of 2018 set a record for growth, a clear sign of momentum building across all our regions. Please keep the Kids Hope program in your prayers. 6 A Letter from Pastor John Max Lucado wrote this scenario: Let s suppose for a moment that the wife of George Frideric Handel came upon a page of her husband s famous oratorio Messiah. The entire work was more than two hundred pages long. Imagine that she discovered one page on the kitchen table. On it her husband had written only one measure in a minor key, one that didn t work on its own. Suppose she, armed with this fragment of dissonance, marched into his studio and said, This music makes no sense. You are a lousy composer. What would he think? Max presents a common experience in my life. I know that when I walk through the periods of life that are hard and confusing, I can sometimes say, This makes no sense! God doesn t know what He is doing! or God has totally dropped the ball here. I can often judge God and his love for me by isolated and difficult situations. Perhaps you have done that too. I still remember a friend who had been praying for months for his daughter. She had made a host of bad choices. She had lost her job, her home and she had ended up living on the street, scraping by trying to get a handout here and there. He was so angry with God for not changing his daughter s situation. He left the church and walked away from our friendship. When I asked him what was wrong, he just simply replied, I m done, John. God didn t do it. He let me down. To my friend, there was just no point in continuing to follow Jesus, if Jesus didn t do exactly what my friend wanted. But honestly, out of all his massive creation, how much have I truly seen? Out of all of his work, how much can I truly understand? I need to remind myself that I can see and understand only a sliver of what God may be doing in my life and in the life of others. Here is what I know to be true: In 2 Corinthians 4:17, Paul writes our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. In other words, I read this to mean that what is coming will eventually make sense of what is happening now. This may or may not be what we want to hear, but we truly do need to let God finish his work, even when we are walking through tough days. He promises that he loves us, and that he will complete the good work he started in us. I hold onto that, and I hope you will too! Pastor John
